Perforated microfiber earpads allow for comfort throughout prolonged listening sessions.

An M-shaped honeycomb internal grille follows the curve of the cone to elicit a precise frequency delineation, particularly in the lows. The honeycomb shape of the design offers an especially open-back feel, so that you can forget you're even wearing headphones.

Providing a remarkable tonal balance across the full spectrum, the Clear MG offers bass articulation down to the lowest frequencies as well as a precise range of dynamics and impact.

2 cables are supplied to suit all uses, including one cable that terminates in 3.5mm connection and one that ends in a 4-pin XLR termination. A 1/4" adapter is also included, as is a carrying case.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What is the best Shure headphone with microphone for singing and recoding ? Like on Smule.

A: Shure Headset systems are designed for professional use; the cables have either 1/4" or XLR connectors, so not for home entertainment. Home systems usually require a "TRRS" connection for the headphones and microphone to be on the same connector. (just like on a computer of mobile phone) B&H does offer many "gaming type" headsets, which have very high quality sound, singing: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1562224-REG/jbl_jblquantumoneblkam_quantum_one_wired_over_ear.html/specs https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1579739-REG/audeze_penrose_gaming_bluetooth_5_0.html

Q: 2. What's a good soft case or hard case for the new Sony MDR-MV1 headphones?

A: The Sony MDR-MV1 Reference Monitor Headphones can be used with a case like the SLAPPA HardBody Pro Full-Sized Headphone Case (B&H # SLHP99), the Magma Bags MGA41460 Headphone Case (B&H # MAMGA41460), or the Dekoni Audio Headphone Savior V2 Universal Carrying Case (B&H # DEHPSAVCHV2).

Q: 3. Originally, Sennheiser HD 800S were made in Germany. I heard the new production had moved out of Europe. Where are these made now?

A: The Sennheiser HD 800 S Dynamic Open-Back Stereo Headphones are still made in Germany according to our system.

Q: 4. What is the best Sure headphone set for singing and recording on Smule 500.00 dollar range ?

A: I would recommend using closed-back, over-ear headphones for singing and recording. They will cut down more background noise so you can focus on hearing yourself and hearing the audio you are tracking to much better. The Shure SRH1540 Closed-Back Over-Ear Premium Studio Headphones - New Packaging (B&H # SHSRH1540BK), SRH940 Closed-Back Over-Ear Professional Reference Headphones - New Packaging (B&H # SHSRH940SL), and SRH840 Closed-Back Over-Ear Professional Monitoring Headphones - New Packaging (B&H # SHSRH840BK) are all excellent options for pro headphones with an extra wide frequency response range and high sensitivity rating, as well as a comfortable style for long sessions. The SRH940 has a foldable design and swiveling earcups, which are convenient when you want to hear through the headphones and also hear live audio at the same time. The SRH840 has a foldable design as well, but the earcups do not swivel. The SRH1540 have an ergonomic dual-frame design using lightweight aluminum and carbon fiber construction for durability and comfort. Its earcups do not swivel and are not foldable. Customer reviews of all three models are very good.

Q: 5. Good day B&H. Can these headphones be used for HIFI music enjoyment listening like my HD650? Is the soundstage wider as well?

A: Yes, the Sennheiser HD 490 PRO Professional Reference Open-Back Studio Headphones can be used for music listening. "Soundstage" is not a technical or measurable concept. The HD 490 PRO have an open-backed design, similar to the HD 650, which provides a more natural listening experience than closed-back headphones, due to the lack of a proximity effect.

Q: 6. Where ManufacturingChina or Austria?

A: According to the information we have, our current inventory's Country of Origin is China. Please be aware this can change over the product's production life without notice.

Q: 7. What is the difference between akg k 701 and akg k 702 they weigh the same and specs seem the same?

A: There is no difference in the headphones according to AKG aside from color and the detachable cable on the K 702.

Q: 8. Does these headphones need a break in period , if so for how many hours does it need and how loud should you play them for the break in period to finish ?

A: Here is the information that the manufacturer provides in the user manual for the Focal Clear MG headphones regarding an initial break-in period: • These headphones require a running-in period in order to operate at their best. • They will run themselves in naturally after several hours of listening time. • If you want to speed up the process, we recommend playing very bassy music through them for at least 24 hours at a relatively high volume. • This will stabilize the speaker drivers and allow you to get the very best out of your headphones.

Q: 9. Is the SMH 1200 Bu a head phone to use for Music editing and personal listening?

A: In my opinion they may be used for either activity as long as the content source offers enough power to drive the 65 ohm load of the headphones. They are super comfortable for long sessions of editing or easy listening for pure enjoyment.

Q: 10. Do I need an Amplifier with the FOCAL Celestee Headphones?

A: No, an amplifier is not required for use.

[Open-Back] If you want to mix in an untreated room, this is the way to go. Even just listening music is a total experience with these, you can hear multiple levels and where they are supposed to be, real nice. For the price they are worth it over treating a room, especially if you are modular with your studio.

[55 Ohms] The first thing you should note about this product is WHO makes it!
Grace Design of Lyon, Colorado. For 20+ years these people have been making absolutely fantastic audio electronics, almost entirely professional gear for recording studios and top flight broadcasters.
It is super clean and works off USB-2, etc. They include in the box an AC power device, but I find this device drives professional headphones (Sennheisers, for example) entirely adequately. No hum, no hiss. Just clean sound.

[Dynamic] These have to be heard. Feed them good electronics and quality source material and the aural experience is nothing short of divine.

My only complaint is I feel the cable is too short. It works great with portable equipment but isn't so fun when used with larger stationary electronics. Not a deal-breaker imo.

These are a must try for those seeking ultimate headphone nirvana.

[5 Hz to 28 kHz] Adding to my 5-star review from earlier, I found a flaw with these headphones. The cable is very microphonic, meaning it transmits any physical touch as sound directly to the right ear. You'll hear bumps or rubbing on the straight part of the cable (the coiled part doesn't seem to transmit at all). This might be a problem for some users, but it hasn't been a huge issue for me, and I'm still using these every day for sound editing and mixing. I wouldn't recommend them for field work where you're moving around. I think Neumann overlooked a pretty big design flaw here and forgot to isolate the cable from the headphones themselves. Hopefully they can fix it in subsequent updates.

[Gold] It works when it is bus-powered, but it shines when it is plugged in. It is clear, transparent, and surgical.

[55 Ohms] As a professional sound editor and mixer, I can fully vouch for Neumanns promise that these are true, neutral, and precise monitors. Ive spent the last two days with them and theyve been a pleasure to work with. I will happily alternate between the NDH 20s and the Sennheiser HD650s now, as both can be trusted for reference. The Neumanns are a little bulky, and heavier than the 650s, but not so much that they impede on a solid days work (in fact, for luxurious closed-back headphones they almost feel too light!). And they provide great isolation, too. I would recommend these for the professional sound engineers out there.

[Stereo] Excellent build quality, very premium feeling. a bit heavy but not a deal breaker for me since it's quite comfortable.
I tried Sennheiser HD650, too warm for me, the veil is real and I don't like that mellow feeling. I also tried beyerdynamic DT 1990 Pro, while I love the soundstage and crisp sound, the treble is too sharp for my taste, every sibilance annoys me.
So my goal was to find a balance between two, a perfect combination of those two. Focal clear hits that exact sweet spot. I know they're not in the same price range but I like what I hear from clear from first moment. The only compromise I'm making is...well, cost.
I'm using a very basic schiit stack and based on my research and what I hear, it's enough.

[Open-Back] These are literally game changers. The quality that you would expect from Neumann. I’m able to hear subtleties in mixes that I was unable to hear previously in monitors and other headphones. These have taken my mixes to another level because the clarity I’m able to achieve with them. They make everything sound stripped down and bare so you actually get hear records sound, with no added gloss or low end. They are also extremely comfortable and collapsible which is great for being mobile.

My only complaint is the headphone jack screwing that in can be tedious, but anyone looking to take their mixes to the next level I strongly recommend these headphones, they are worth the investment and great value compared to other monitoring headphones around this price.
