The Interchange Intercom Phone Bridge from JK Audio is a professional half-rack interface designed to provide remote access to your party-line intercom through the JK Audio Innkeeper Series Digital Hybrids (sold separately). This unit provides a 4-wire audio interface and remote control connection to the JK Audio innkeeper LTD, innkeeper 1x/1rx, or innkeeper 2 Digital Hybrid (all sold separately). The front panel headset interface jack allows easy connection of your cell phone, tablet, or computer, thereby enabling remote access through a wireless phone or a conferencing app.

This intercom phone bridge contains a sophisticated intercom hybrid in a low noise pro audio design. The Listen-Always design enables both the phone hybrid / 4-wire connection and the cell phone headset interface to monitor the intercom. It features a Listen mode, which is a high-impedance bridging tap on the intercom line. This unit also includes a Talk mode that is enabled via a front panel switch, either Off, On, or Auto. Auto follows the phone hybrid Auto-Answer mode. The Talk mode uses a solid-state relay to properly couple Talk audio from the phone line and cell phone interfaces, to the intercom channel.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What is the best method to record digital audio (MP3) from telephone interviews using this device? Should it be connected directly to a PC or a digital recording device, like an Olympus recorder? If to PC, is there a specific software to use to record the audio input? If digital recorder is the better option, is there a recommended recorder to use? Finally, what kind of cable should be used to connect the THAT-2 device to the digital audio recording device (PC or digital recorder). Thanks!

A: I connect the THAT-2 to a digital audio recorder using a female XLR-to-male 3.5mm adapter cable (Kopul LMT-100). The 3.5mm plug goes into the mic socket of my small Olympus or the Line-In sockets of larger recorders. After recording, I copy the audio file to my computer for editing or replaying. I suppose one can recorder directly to a PC but I have not done that.Good luck.

Q: 2. Can this also connect to phones via cable like the Daptor Two?

A: The JK Audio Daptor Three Bluetooth Cell Phone Audio Interface cannot make a wired connection to landline phones.

Q: 3. With the 4/5 pin unit, the manual mentions pinouts for an A/B channel system. How does the pack let you choose B or A to speak into?

A: You can use only one headset at a time which can be either 4-pin OR 5-pin configuration. The included 3.5mm TRRS cable allows you to connect the audio from the Outerloop 3.5 to the headphone jack on a smartphone, computer, or other compatible mobile device through unit's the 3.5mm jack. You can then use your mobile device to call into your intercom phone bridge, station phone coupler, or any phone-based intercom app.

Q: 4. I am trying this device with an Olympus digital recorder, connected via RCA cable. How do I reduce static noise? It seems that the noise level is amplified when connected. Not sure if the issue is THAT-2 or my battery-powered digital recorder...

A: I have not yet put into use this device

Q: 5. Does this item include a TRRS to TRSS cable? Does it include any other cables? The "What's in the Box" section doesn't mention any included cables. Thanks.

A: They both provide you with a 3.5mm TRS and a 3.5mm TRRS cable in the box.

Q: 6. Can i use this as an IFB with an G3 wireless?

A: It wont work as the JK box is only XLR and . The EW is 3.5mm proprietary locking connectors.

Q: 7. Any chance for this to work for recording calls from a computer? Via Google Voice or MS Teams, for instance.

A: The JK Audio CellTap 4C Wireless Phone Audio Tap Adapter could be used with computers that have a 3.5mm TRRS connection for input and output similar to the connection found on smart phones.

Q: 8. Can I use this for interviewing somebody on a cell phone in a broadcast studio?

A: Yes, the Daptor Two connects to a cell phone and allows you to send the output from a phone call to a recorder or mixer.

Q: 9. Does this unit work with digital landlines? I bought a Rolls P19 Patch 11 and it does not work with my Shaw Cable landline.

A: I was going to answer this but B and H will not allow me to provide the address and phone number of the manufacturer so you're on your own, though luck.

Q: 10. I'm looking for a way to input a voice message, which has been processed in iZotope software, onto a standard answering machine, with the goal of having a clean outgoing message. Is the JK Audio AutoHybrid interface the way to achieve this? If not, what device would do the job? Thanks....

A: This should work for your proposed application.

[2.15 lb] Doing voice work from the home studio, I occasionally encounter clients who'd like to participate in the direction of a session, or at least hear playback on-the-fly. There are ways to accomplish this, but the end results always sound less-than-great, plus it's just plain awkward juggling headphones & other equipment trying to make it work. Bottom line, an actual phone interface is necessary. The issue I kept finding on all the models I'd checked out was that they required a land line, something I'd given up in favour of a cellphone nearly twenty years ago. The Daptor 2 is the perfect solution for my situation -- it's just a box; simply plug the appropriate line-in/line-out cables into the console, adjust the mix/minus settings on the board, attach the cell, and voila! Clients can now participate in the session & hear playback with ease, and I don't have to consider having a land line installed, so it's a win-win for everybody.

[1.2 lb (0.5 kg)] The JK Audio Celltap 4C works surprisingly well. Built like a tank in a compact metal noise-shielded housing. Includes a TRRS-to-TRRS cable for phone to Celltap 4C connection, and a TRS-to-TRS cable for Celltap 4C to stereo recorder connection.

The caller's voice records to the left channel with no sidetone from your voice. A wired headset microphone puts just your voice on the right channel. Separation is excellent, making post production a snap.

This is a game changer, must-have gear for recording interviews. Passive impedance matching transformers deliver high quality audio. Setup takes seconds, and you can easily break out the caller's voice to a studio board or field mixer. A wired TRRS headset, cellphone and recorder is all you need to add.

[10.3 x 7 x 3"] Works Great - I should have bought this first, but thought the Daptor 3, which I never could get to work and had complex instructions, was a newer model. NOPE, The Daptor series all perform different functions. Daptor 2 is wire and forget...works perfect. Goop's (glued) mine to the side of my mixer.

[2.15 lb] I purchased this for a church. We have a member who is unable to attend services and this product allows us to hook up to a cell phone and transmit the church service to her speaker phone at her home.

[2.15 lb] Product connected directly out of the box. No issues, no ground fault loops, no strangeness that I didn’t expect and had to work through.

Spectacular results for a simple phone call and delivery of a product.

Now, I only wish they made one with stereo audio out for use with a Macintosh desktop computer.

[1.2 lb (0.5 kg)] Had to get this to facilitate a conference call in a movie theater that didn't have a land line in the projection booth. Worked perfectly, even with the limited tech available at the theater. Good little gadget to have in the toolbox for when the occasion demands.

[1.2 lb (0.5 kg)] Very pleased with the quality of the Celltap 4C. Passive and requires no batteries, simple to use, robust and portable which is ideal for our field reporters to capture sound bites and interviews. The great advantage is the caller and host are recorded to separate tracks without the need hybrid devices as per landlines. This helps reduce noise and one can balance the levels of the guest and host, both of which are very good from the outset. Works superbly with the Nagra Lino. A great sounding compact interface at a great price and a superb addition for our field reports to keep in their kit bag.

[2.15 lb] I use this to record phone ins from cell phones and cordless phones with 2.5mm headset ports. Even bought an adaptor and use it with an iphone. Great sound, rugged design, and very good buy. Only bad issue is the lack of mix and match for the cabling ins and outs; its either both xlr or both 1/4. Minor issue though. Great product.
