Developed for Nikon AF-S DX 18-140mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR Lensis a versatile 27-210mm-equivalent all-in-one zoom covering a wide-angle to mid-telephoto range. Helping to achieve impressive image quality, the optical design employs one aspherical element and one extra-low dispersion element, which both help to limit spherical and chromatic aberrations in order to realize great sharpness and color accuracy. Individual elements also feature a Super Integrated Coating, which cuts flare and ghosting to increase contrast when working in harsh lighting conditions. Benefitting handheld shooting, Vibration Reduction minimizes the appearance of camera shake by up to four stops in order to produce sharper imagery. Additionally, a Silent Wave Motor affords fast, near-silent autofocus performance and full-time manual focus override.

All-in-one zoom spans wide-angle to telephoto focal lengths and is designed for Nikon F-mount DX-format cameras, where it provides a 27-210mm equivalent range.

One aspherical element is used to reduce spherical aberrations and distortion in order to realize sharp imagery with accurate rendering.

One extra-low dispersion element greatly reduces color fringing and chromatic aberrations in order to produce greater clarity and color accuracy.

A Super Integrated Coating has been applied to individual elements to suppress internal reflections, flare, and ghosting for improved contrast and color accuracy when working in strong lighting conditions.

Silent Wave Motor affords quick, quiet, and precise autofocus performance along with full-time manual focus override. An internal focusing design is also used, where only the internal lens groups are moved during focusing, to maintain the overall length of the lens during use and to promote faster focusing speeds.

VR (Vibration Reduction) image stabilization helps to minimize the appearance of camera shake by 4 stops to benefit shooting handheld in difficult lighting conditions.

Rounded seven-blade diaphragm promotes a pleasing out of focus quality that benefits the use of shallow depth of field and selective focus techniques.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. The "360 view" feature of this page indicates that there are two "on/off" switches for VR, including the "normal/active" switch. So, what really does the "normal/active" switch do?

A: My apologies, I am not seeing the switches you are referring to. There are 2 switches on the lens. 1 to switch the Focus Mode from Auto to Manual. The second is to switch the Vibration Reduction (VR) on or off.

Q: 2. Best for family - wedding party ...I have D750 body. Alreay have a 50mm. Whats best 35 or 18-140mm??

A: This is a DX lens and will reduce the image quality of your camera by only using a portion of the sensor. I would recommend the Nikon 24-120mm lens.

Q: 3. Is this compatible with a D40X body

A: Yes, this is a Nikon AF-S type lens, which has the built-in motor which is required by the D40x in order to autofocus.

Q: 4. Auto extension tube Nikon

A: That's a question?

Q: 5. Does this lens fit for a Nikon D5300 & a Nikon D5100?

A: Works fine with my D5100 as well.

Q: 6. 100% compatible with Nikon Zfc?

A: Yes it is but you will also need the FTZ adapter. Here it is. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1431716-REG/nikon_4185_ftz_mount_adapter.html

Q: 7. Will extension tubes work with this lens? If so, which ones?

A: I would recommend the Kenko Auto Extension Tube Set DG (12, 20 & 36mm Tubes) for Nikon Digital and Film Cameras, B&H # KEAETSND, for use with the Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-140mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR Lens.

Q: 8. will this lens work on a d850?

A: It will work in DX mode. This a cropped sensor lens and is meant for a DX camera. If you use it on the D850, you will only get half the resolution. A more appropriate focal length compatible lens is the 24-120mm. You can click on the link below to view; https://bhpho.to/37nC4O1

Q: 9. Will this lens fit the Nikon D5200?

A: Yes, this lens will fit any Nikon DSLR camera. Since I bought this lens in late 2013, it's been my default lens.

Q: 10. How is it that a DX lens on a DX camera increases the working focal length of the lens? An FX lens on a DX camera would clearly increase the focal length because the image is larger than the sensor.

A: Lenses always indicate a physical distance from image plane to nodal point no matter what system it is for, it is the sensor size that determines the crop factor and in this case 1.5x.

[67 mm (Front)] This lens was recommended to me by a friend for shooting portraits and weddings. It’s light weight and so versatile, this has quickly become my go to lens! I use this in conjunction with my Nikkor 70-200, and you never miss a shot!

[67 mm (Front)] I am extremely happy with my New Nikon D500. I traded my 2 year old D7500in when I wanted to purchase my new camera. Your used Equipment Dept gave me fantastic service over the phone and with the offer I received, after you received my old camera only took 3 Days to process. Your sales and customer service professionals are very helpful and and answered all my questions.
I upgraded to the D500 to gain the extra features. The Auto focus, Option of the MD-17 battery grip. Faster 10fps more professional options. I also purchased the Nikkor 18 to 140mm zoom, Nikkor 10 to 20 mm and a QXD card. Everything arrived on the date promised. B&H has Mee as a customer for life. The pictures I have taken so far are excellent.

[APS-C] I recently upgraded from my venerable D80 to the brand new D7500. I had purchased the body-only and continued to use my original 18-135 lens. I was quite impressed with the new combo. Weeks later I decided to pass my D80 to a niece who has interest in DSLR photography. She needed a lens of course so I gave here the 18-135 and contacted B&H to see if I could still get the D7500+lens kit at the discounted price. NO TROUBLE AT ALL! I paid the diff and they sent the new lens. B&H is the best! I expected the new 18-140 lens essentially to be the same as the old one but I was nicely surprised. The speed of auto-focus is significantly faster than the older lens (both compared on the D7500.) And the VR seems to be improved too. Combined with the extended ISO range of the D7500 which enables fast shutter speeds even under low light conditions, I can capture quality images quickly when needed, and also have the option to tinker with the more advanced settings when I prefer. I'm not a pro but there are times when I have to be the photographer at certain public events and my new setup makes it much easier to capture crisp pictures when zoomed-in and the subjects are moving. I'm sure the pro's out there will find something they don't like as always, but this product represents the quality and durability I've come to expect from Nikon. And as a bonus I'm a hero to my niece!

[f/3.5 to 5.6] Versatile lens that meets needs well.

[f/3.5 to 5.6] I'll start by saying I'm just a hobbyist photographer. I bought this lens to replace the kit 18-55 that came with my D5300. While I know kit lenses are rarely the greatest, the one that came with my D5300 was so inconsistent that I was about to give up on the camera (my previous camera, the Alpha a5000, did far better on the kit lens). Rather than give up, I decided to try a better lens and took a chance on this refurbished 18-140. The difference is night and day. Indoor photos are now a possibility again, and pictures are much clearer than before. I didn't expect miracles from this lens considering the relative price, but so far I'm quite happy with it. It focuses quickly, and you can hear the VR motors working to hold focus. It adds some weight to the camera, but it still feels well balanced.

In regard to physical condition, the lens was really clean. It was a little stiff to zoom at first, but that as since loosened up to a nice balance where I don't think lens creep will be an issue. It came with an unlabeled lens cap, well packaged in a plain box that said it was refurbished by Nikon. I would definitely buy this again for the value to performance, and I won't ever use the kit lens again.

[Nikon F] Lens is very accurate and clear. Wonderful photos.

[Nikon F] This lens is surprising. Barrel distortion is all but non-existant, only slightly noticeable at the 18mm focal length. Sharpness is outstanding. Unbelievable Focal length range. Its an all in one lens. It is a bit heavy, twice as heavy as the 18-55mm. I was considering the 18-105 but it was only two ounces less. Not worth it. I highly recommend this lens.
