With a console that supports HDMI 2.1, you can access an array of gaming-specific technologies that work to provide smooth 4K gameplay. You get 4K HDR pass-through at 120 Hz for amazing visuals and realistic response times. ALLM allows the console to automatically select your TV's game mode, while both VRR and QFT work to minimize lag and graphic tearing.

Using eARC (Enhanced Audio Return Channel), you can send audio from your built-in TV apps and connected devices back across a compatible HDMI cable to play it through the speakers you have attached to the TX-NR5100. This gives you support for Dolby Atmos, DTS-HD Master Audio, DTS:X, and Dolby TrueHD audio formats.

You can find and stream music through the TX-NR5100 receiver using the Onkyo Control app for Apple and Android devices, or dedicated apps like Spotify, TIDAL, Deezer, TuneIn, and Pandora.

You can experience immersive sound even without a true Dolby Atmos setup. When playing any Dolby format through traditional speakers, the Dolby Atmos Height Virtualizer simulates the height effect of Atmos.

Working with both Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa, the TX-NR5100 gives you voice control over your audio from compatible 3rd party devices throughout your home.

Onkyo worked closely with Klipsch to equip the TX-NR5100 with precise crossover values to make this receiver integrate seamlessly with an existing Klipsch Reference Premiere speaker system.

Whether you're starting a new Sonos system using an optional Sonos Port or already have an existing Sonos home sound system, you'll be able to remotely manage it using Sonos Volume-Pass Through on the mobile Sonos app. Use it to wake devices, change inputs, and play your content at specific volumes.

Helping you streamline your home theater setup, AccuEQ calibrates the TX-NR5100 and your speakers to ensure that you get the best performance for your space. It calculates speaker distance from your listening position, adjusts the speaker's sound pressure level, and sets the speakers crossover. The result is clear and balanced surround sound.

Multi-room audio playback is possible when using DTS Play-Fi and the Onkyo Music Control app with a compatible Apple or Android mobile device. Using compatible devices throughout your home, you can play music from a variety of sources to every room simultaneously, or to a specific group of rooms. You can stream from popular online services, networked media servers in your home, or other devices you may own over Wi-Fi.

The receiver can to integrate with your smart home devices, such those supporting Apple AirPlay, Amazon Alexa, or Google Assistant; letting you use your voice to manage your entertainment.

You can stream content to play through the receiver from a compatible Bluetooth-equipped mobile device, or stream from the receiver to optional Bluetooth headphones. Receive audio in SBC and AAC, and send audio through the receiver with SBC, aptX, and 24-bit aptX HD.

Onkyo has worked on DAA (Dynamic Audio Amplification) for decades, incorporating a custom high-current low-noise power transformer, customized capacitors, and discrete amp output stages. This unique topology drives 4-ohm loads through all channels and is made to prevent phase-shift while high current improves speaker control for true dynamic speed.

  • Roon Tested device support for managed music playback
  • Zone B pre-/line-out that plays the main zone's audio to a compatible (and optional) headphone dock
  • Vocal Enhancer
  • Media info and playback status display
  • One-touch volume memory-preset functions
  • AccuEQ with AccuReflex and subwoofer EQ
  • Chromecast built-in
  • HDMI Sub Out lets you transmit to an optional secondary projector, monitor, or TV

Q: 1. I'm enjoying this receiver as 7.1 in Living Room. Can I add 2 bluetooth speakers in bedroom 25' feet away, concrete walls?

A: It is unlikely that you will be able to use two Bluetooth speakers with the Sony STR-AN1000 7.2-Channel Network A/V Receiver at 25' away through concrete walls. [4K120p] I bought this receiver to replace my 20+ yo Onkyo TX-NR900 that finally gave out on me. I took another reviewer's advice by going with the NR6100 over a higher model because they said the extra 20 watts was not worth paying twice as much. Plus, there was no need to have 9.2-channels just to play records in my den. I'm very happy I did because this receiver is every bit a worthy 2023 successor to my old, trusty, NR900. It does everything I need and more! The built-in bluetooth is nice and having a central hub that connects all of your devices via HDMI really helps organize your entertainment options. I haven't even explored wireless speaker options yet and looking forward to streaming some tunes to the back porch.

Before buying this receiver, I tried with a Denon DRA-800H and it was a disaster. I'm thankful for B&H's return policy and would definitely purchase from them again.

[5.2.2] For the first time I really feel as though my system is performing at the level it should. Moved up from an Onkyo 6100 and have had several surround systems from Denon and others over the years. Last system I moved to a 5.1.2 setup. It didn't really pop until the RZ50.
