Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. If I have 4 cameras coming in via NDI, this should power them and take 1 outbound ethernet to an NDI switcher and it will work?

A: It would depend on the power consumption, NDI version, resolution and frame rate. Considering the 240W PoE+ power budget and max wattage of 30W for PoE+ devices, the Netgear AV Line M4250 GSM4212PX 8-Port Gigabit PoE+ Compliant Managed AV Switch with SFP (240W) should provide enough power for the cameras. Bandwidth would be the biggest issue. If you are using full Bandwidth NDI, transmitting 4K signal at 60 FPS from each camera, your Ethernet connection going to the NDI switcher may not have enough bandwidth for all 4 signals. If you are using lower bandwidth NDI such as HX3 or a lower resolution, such as 1080p, your single Etherenet connection to the NDI switcher should be sufficient.

Q: 2. is this product the V2.6? or V2?

A: There is no hardware difference between the V2.6 and V2.0, it refers only to the production location of the switch. We do not have this information for this TP-Link TL-SG3210XHP-M2, but it makes no difference in terms of the switch itself.

Q: 3. Is secondary power supply available?

A: No, the Ubiquiti Networks Switch Enterprise XG 24 24-Port 10G Managed Network Switch with 25G SFP28 does not support the option for a secondary internal power supply.

Q: 4. What is the difference between the us-16-xg and the es-16-xg? I've read that the hardware is the same, just different software (unifi controller?)? If that is case and I'm running a UDM Pro, the software is already there, right? Which in that case, this switch would be the better bang for buck of the ES model?

A: The ES model is the EdgeSwitch, which does not come with Unifi software built in.

Q: 5. Can we aggregate several devices with 2x 10GBe each?

A: This is what we use this for. We have three USW-48P-500W with both of their SPF+ ports LAG uplinked to the ES-16-XG.

Q: 6. Can anyone tell me if this is universal voltage or is it 120 only?

A: The Netgear AV Line M4250 GSM4212UX 8-Port Gigabit PoE++ Compliant Managed AV Switch with SFP+ (720W) is multi-voltage (100-240V, 50-60 Hz).

Q: 7. Can the port LEDs be turned off to save of the cost of useless light solution?

A: Yes, the port lights for the Ubiquiti Networks Pro Max 16-Port 2.5G / 1G Managed Network Switch can be customized or disabled.

Q: 8. How noisy is this switch?

A: This switch is super quiet.

Q: 9. Is there a limited amount of Link Aggregation or LACP creations?

A: Netgear does not mention a limit for the number of LACP connections supported by the Netgear M4350-44M4X4V 48-Port Multi-Gig PoE++ Compliant Managed AV Network Switch. More information can be found here: https://bit.ly/42ssO9h

Q: 10. Is this item rated for outdoor use?

A: No, this is for indoor use. If you woudl like to use this for outdoor use, you will need to purchase some sort of enclosure for it.

[Yes 1 RU] This switch does exactly what it is made for - PoE+/PoE++ and 2.5 Gig switching. My desktop and my NAS are both 2.5 Gbps-capable so I got them connected via this bad boy. It's running smoothly and without issue!

[Fan] Using a pair of these switches for church worship live streaming. We have had to adopt streaming due to the whole covid situation. So have setup a network to handle all connections between cameras, computers and audio sources for the streaming and wanted a high speed uplink between sound booth and stage. It is probably a little overkill but I did not want network bandwidth to ever be a questionable issue.
The switches are working great for us and the 10 Gig uplink is established through a 100 ft CAT6a cable. PoE available on all ports (except uplinks) and working great. The switch does take about 2 minutes to become operational on power up, so we have put in small UPS units to prevent interruptions in case of a power glitch.
Good feature at a nice price.

[16K] Simple installation into my rack, very easy setup for my network. Glad to have a 10gbe uplink now that I am transitioning to multi-gig WAPs.

[199 W] I use this switch with pfSense and UniFi U6-Pro access point (self-hosted UniFi network controller) for a home network. So far everything works as expected: power for a few PoE/PoE+ devices, VLANs, etc. The switch doesn't have a fan and it doesn't emit any audible noises. It's also possible to turn off port activity LEDs, if necessary.

[Yes 1 RU] This switch is flexible with selection of which ports get PoE and whether the port LEDs are on or off. It runs cooler than a Netgear ProSafe Plus switch that was purchased 8 years earlier.

[30 W] The Roi is outstanding .... this is a managed POE switch. Compact, easy to set up. Performed perfectly right out of the box. I would've paid twice as much for what I got from any one else.

[Yes 1 RU] This is the perfect switch to expand / extend our network. We had a POE access point driven by an injector from one end of the building to the other. I needed a couple additional wired connections and was able to repurpose the existing cable to connect to this switch and then short hop the POE to drive the access point. I was able to hook up two additional wired devices and I now have 4 additional ports available for other POE or non POE devices.
I love fast, simple, and very cost effective solutions.

[90%] This fit's my need perfectly, very easy to setup and install. I'm using it as an extension to my home network to add 4 more POE cameras to my system. As always, B&H provided good service and shipping speed.

[10.855 lb] This switch was a breeze to deploy, and we've seen a huge improvement in quality across all of our NDI devices compared to our previous Cisco switch, which was forced on us by our IT group.
