Q: 1. Is this lens compatible with Nikon D7100?

A: I don't know for sure, but would imagine so. I bought it for my D-3100. It as worked great...was my son's HS tennis team photographer this fall.

Q: 2. does this lens work with a Nikon D7100?

A: This lens would work very well with your D7100. I use mine on my D7000 and D90 often. It is the wide lens answer to my telephoto lens and I love it.

Q: 3. How do my professional brothers carry this lens? In the bush it's hard enough to carry gear and still be flexible enough to shoot at a waterhole. I will definitely be at least 200ft from my subject, my armed-guide will watch out for approaching predators. I thought about leaving it mounted to the camera body but the dust is everywhere. Is there a particular tube container out there? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

A: The lens comes with a lens case.If you do want to leave it on the camera the best is a cover for the lens and camera. There are many brands and models. This is one of the best a href= http://bhpho.to/18Pds1N. target= _blank http://bhpho.to/18Pds1N./aAnd you will need a eyepiece and that depends on the camera you have. This is the link the eyepieces a href= http://bhpho.to/1AIfvM3. target= _blank http://bhpho.to/1AIfvM3./a

Q: 4. When jumping out of an airplane without a helmet camera which lens should I use on my SLR or should I forget even trying to shoot with a SLR and try a point and shoot camera? Will the camera sense vibration moving through the air on a downward path? I sky dive often but have never photograph the dive. Helmet camera would probably be the best but I want stills not video...

A: This lens may kill you on impact. Seriously, if you're serious, Sony makes very small, high quality mirrorless cameras...such as the A7.

Q: 5. Since purchasing this lens, though she is quite heavy, would you have chosen the 500mm instead-less weight same quality a little less reaching capabilities or reach farther and go for the 800mm tripod mounted lens build up your muscles and gain more in the long run? If cost was not an issue respectfully.

A: This is a question of which lens is the right one for the job, so which lens should be purchased has to do with what you are shooting, and how much reach you need. That being said, ideally you will be using these lenses on a monopod or tripod even though they have VR. Shooting hand held with either of these for extended periods of time wouldnt be very realistic.

Q: 6. Does this lens work with Nikon 1 NIKKOR camera?

A: You will be able to use this lens on a Nikon 1 camera body with the use of the Nikon FT1 mount adapter, however, keep in mind when using autofocus that the focus mode must be set to AF-S (Single AF) and AF-area mode is fixed at single-point, using only the center focus point. The FT1 adapter can be found here: http://bhpho.to/NrAoKb

Q: 7. Is this lens compatible with a Nikon D40?

A: The Nikon AF-S 70-300mm lens is fully compatible with the Nikon D40, yes. This would include autofocus.

Q: 8. Is this a kit lens?

A: yes it's a kit lens

Q: 9. Has anyone had any problem getting such a large lens through customs into a foreign country? Any thoughts about going through differently that regular hand held luggage?

A: You should not have issues going through Customs with a large lens, though if you are concerned I suggest contacting the local office of where you are traveling to confirm. It is not advised to store lenses in checked baggage, and you should only travel with camera equipment in a secure storage setting like a carry on bag.

Q: 10. I have this lens and a D3100. The lens still activates the flash and the autofocus works, but it will not engage the shutter to capture the picture. What am I doing wrong? The camera body works with other lenses.

A: That lens is compatible with that camera and should activate the shutter after it autofocuss. It could be defective or damaged. It is best that you contact us over the phones or chat to discuss it further.

Top quality as expected from LensCoat. Purchased for Nikon 500mm f/4 E VR. Once I removed the foot from the lens, installation was a breeze. Camo pattern is great, and protecting the lens from wear and tear is important to me. It fit like a glove and there’s no slippage with any of the individual pieces. I’ve purchased several and have never been disappointed.

Usually when buying lenses with such zoom capabilities the price margin can get relatively high. If you're someone looking to shoot sports or just get a little more zoom out of a lense for an affordable price this is certainly the way to go. It can focus well even at max zoom which is nice for those really far away shots, however ideal range is prob somewhere around 200mm. The vr is a really nice feature aswell exept when (if) videoing it may get a little weird. The only cons I can really think of are that it feels a little flimsy in your hand due to the entirely plastic body. But as long as you are carefull it can be just as much a positive because it's lighter because of it. People call this nikons workhorse and I would certainly agree

Perfect fit, camo helps break up outline, provides some protection from small bumps or dirt. Doesn't protect against heavy impacts, but this will definitely prolong the lens's lifespan.

I've been taking pictures of high school and college sports games for a couple years now. I was using the old 70-300mm lense with out the VR and using it on a monopod. It caught great action shots!! I was amazed at my ability. It made me look like a profesional. When I got my new nikon D90 I went a head and got the newer 70-300VR lense, now I don;t have to use the monopod, one less piece of equipment to bring...Ita a great lense!!! From the sidelines you can get right up into the action. I love this lense.
