Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does it come withe the original box and all the other stuff ?

A: Refurbished products come with everything the original is intended to come with. However the box may be different.

Q: 2. Will this lens work with the Nikon TC-14EII teleconverter on a D7100?

A: The Nikon AF-S 300mm f/2.8 VR II is compatible with the TC-14E II without limitations, and they could be used together on the D7100.

Q: 3. How come Nikon 300 f.28 does not come in Nikon C1-404 Box ?

A: This is a question to ask Nikon.

Q: 4. Is the 200 F/2.0 VRll Sharper than this lens

A: Both the Nikon 300mm f/2.8 and 200mm f/2.0 are incredibly sharp lenses.

Q: 5. Will this lens fit in the Nikon CL-L1 case?

A: Yes this lens fits in the CL-L1.

Q: 6. Is a lens cap front and back included?

A: Yes, Nikon Front Lens Cover for 200mm, 300mm, 200-400mm Lenses and LN-1 Rear Lens Cap.

Q: 7. I own the 300 f/4 PF but sometimes wish I had the extra stop from a 2.8 lens. Is this lens worth the price for the extra stop? I understand it’s built to pro standards but aside from that is it worth it to sell the PF and get this 12-year old lens?

A: Getting the Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 300mm f/4E PF ED VR Lens would be worth the cost based on its smaller barrel and electromagnetic diaphragm for faster response when shooting continuous frames, despite the maximum aperture of f/4. The right choice really comes down to what features are most important to you.

Q: 8. Will this lens work with two TCs stacked, on a D7200? Thanks.

A: It is not possible to stack 2 Nikon teleconverters. A better option would be to use this Tamron 150-600: https://bhpho.to/3fRqqTe Plus this 2x: https://bhpho.to/2Rgnllj The result would be manual focus only but it would reach the 1200mm range.

Q: 9. Will this lens work with the D500

A: Works very well

Q: 10. how long is the warranty on this lens?

A: The unit comes with the following. Limited 1-Year Warranty you can also extended it by taking advantage of our all-state protection plan.

[7 x 5.5 x 1"] I sold my 300mm f2.8 Nikkor to get this lens - the ability to have equal or better image quality to the 300mm but with a zoom of 120-300 was an easy decision for me. I use this mostly for sports with my Z7 II and it works great and I'm incredibly impressed with the images. The clarity, color and sharpness are amazing - as you'd expect at this price point.

[0.24 lb] I worried that spending this much money on a lens instead of getting the less expensive 300mm Prime might be a mistake. But it turns out that at 300mm, the quality of the photo matches, if not exceeds that of the prime.

I am quite pleased with it

[7 x 5.5 x 1"] Great football lens…130-300 is a good range, and images are sharp. As expected for a lens this pricey.

[0.24 lb] Sharp and Fast!!! Took just 4 quick burst shots on this Hummer and 2 out of 4 were keepers! And this shot of the California Brown Pelican is straight out of my card - unedited!

I bought this lens to replace my 70-200mm f/2.8, 300mm f/2.8, and 200-400mm f/4 with a 1.4 tele. Instead of carrying 3 lenses I would just now carry one for wildlife photography.

I can't say it enough how very satisfied I am with my purchase. You won't regret it.

[7 x 5.5 x 1"] THe coat fits very well. The only glitch is its hard to the lens cap on !! I roll the hood back to accommodate the lens cap.

[Black] I recently purchased this lens to complement my 200-400 f4 VRII. I tested it out on several night football games and boy did it perform. Fast focus, smooth as silk rotation from horizontal to vertical. The best I have ever used. Zoom was well damped and is a short throw to get from 120-300. Over great lens!!! So I decided to try it out inside for some 6U basketball. It was great!

[0.24 lb] This lens is absolutely spectacular. It is zoom lens targeted on sports photographers and to me that means that auto focus speed, image quality, and zoom speed are paramount.

Auto Focus: Initial testing on a D5 has some of the fastest auto focus speed I have ever seen in any lens, zoom or prime. I am not much of a wildlife photographer, but I tried to do a bit in order to test the auto focus speed and catching the small birds in flight and keeping them in focus was very solid. In the hands of a photographer who has experience birding, I imagine it would be near instant. I will try to update this review from a sports perspective this weekend.

Auto Focus #2: I also attached my X2 teleconverter to this lens to see how it handled it. In my estimation the auto focus speed with it attached is about equal to my 200-400mm F4 VRII lens (which has been fast enough to do quite a bit of sports photography).

Image Quality: I'm going to admit to not being much of a pixel peeper, but the images from this lens so far (again on the D5) have been excellent. I do not own a very high megapixel camera like a Z7 or a D850, so I don't have a comparison for that, but on the D5 the Bokeh is beautiful and the sharpness is the best I've seen mid-frame, especially at 300mm. The IQ with the X2 teleconverter is obviously not as sharp as without, but it still produces a usable photo as long as you are doing only minimal cropping.

Zoom Speed: This might be a personal thing, but when I'm shooting football, I want to be able to zoom fully in and fully out in time to account for the action on the field. This lens allows me to do so in about a quarter turn on the barrel. Fast enough for me to follow a thrown football and get the receiver correctly framed.

In conclusion: While I have not owned this lens for very long, so far it is indeed everything it was touted to be. If you have the need and have the means, purchase this lens. You will not regret it.

[7 x 5.5 x 1"] On a d850, focus cuts like a microtome, tack sharp. Needed [+6] w/FocusTune, the closest to [0] of all my lenses. Goes into a nice creamy blur in out of focus area (I'll let others judge the Bokeh quality - but I'm satisfied with mine). A tad on the heavy side... but that is self evident, and required by the range and f/2.8. Suggested extra, the Kirk foot with Arca tracks... add a silicone shock band around the front.... Go for it!! You'll beat all those white teles...

[7 x 5.5 x 1"] This is the best zoom lens that Nikon produced.
I attached it to D6 and the RAW files are almost like JPG , the color the sharpness, the highlight's are absolutely amazing!
Some people are saying that is to expensive but you never had a accurate lens in your hands until this one. I personally made a deal with the devil and cancel my own funeral and spend my money on this amazing piece of art . I know that will keep me happy for many years to come.
