Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this lens work on the Nikon D90 camera

A: The Nikon AF-S 70-300mm lens is fully compatible with the Nikon D90.

Q: 2. Is this lens designed to be used with VR on or off on a tripod? Any specific recommendations for photographing the moon with this lens?

A: The lens has a Tripod VR setting which I have used on occasion. I have done images with the moon included (not the whole subject). Depending on the wind resistance of your tripod, the VR can be quite an improvement.

Q: 3. Is there some type of tripod mount adapter available for this lens?

A: Due to the small size and light weight of the Nikon AF-S VR Zoom-NIKKOR 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G IF-ED Lens, Nikon does not have a tripod collar mount adapter designed for use with this lens. The only option I could find from a third-party manufacturer that may also work as a substitute would be the Benro LB200 Arca-Type Lens Bracket, B&H # BELB200, which would be compatible with tripod heads that use the universal Arca-type quick release connection system.

Q: 4. Is this compatible with a Nikon D5500?

A: Yes, the Nikon AF-S VR Zoom-NIKKOR 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G IF-ED Lens is fully compatible for use with the Nikon D5500 DSLR camera.

Q: 5. I have a read up on this lens versus the Tamron SP 70-300mm f/4-5.6 Di VC USD and it seems that the consensus is that the Tamron shoots sharper images at the longer end and is also quieter. Can anyone contribute their knowledge to the comparison of these two lenses?

A: The degree of sharpness and performance will depend on the camera you plan to use this lens with. You can do an in-depth, side by side comparison of these lenses on your camera at a href= http://www.dxomark.com target= _blank www.dxomark.com./a

Q: 6. What is the difference between this lens and the Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 600mm f/4E FL ED VR Lens, other than around a $4000 price difference?

A: The Nikon AF-S Nikkor 600mm f/4G ED VR listed above was originally released in 2007. The new Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 600mm f/4E FL ED VR lens, released last year in 2015, uses Nikon's latest technology providing enhanced autofocus tracking and improved optical performance, with fluorite lens elements which help in both reducing chromatic aberration and decreasing the weight of the lens. The new lens weighs 8.3 lbs (as opposed to the 11.5 lbs of the lens you list above, almost 3 lbs lighter, which will be advantageous for long sports games or wildlife shooting). The new Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 600mm f/4E FL ED VR Lens also has an electromagnetic diaphragm to assist in maintaining consistent exposures when shooting fast action and using continuous burst shooting.

Q: 7. Hi this lens is vr 2 and made in which country

A: Thailand.

Q: 8. is this lens compatible with Nikon D3200?

A: Yes, this lens is compatible with the Nikon D3200.

Q: 9. is this lens better than the tamron sp 70-300mm di vc usd f/4-5.6?

A: I have never used the Tamron, but I love my Nikkor. I shoot soccer games for my kids teams and get great results. I read a ton of reviews and the consensus was it was a great value, and I agree.

Q: 10. Does it work with a D3200?

A: Yes, the Nikon AF-S VR Zoom-NIKKOR 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G IF-ED Lens is fully compatible for use on the Nikon D3200 DSLR camera.

I use them on all my lenses for protection. This fits well although I didn't use all the pieces.

I had two LensCoat lens covers for larger super telephoto lenses, and liked them both. This is the first time that I have tried a LensCoat lens cover for a smaller lens. I am really pleased this product. The fit is perfect, including access to lens switches. Not only does this provide protection to the lens, but the lens is actually easier to handle (i.e., less slippery) especially in colder weather. I liked this product so much that I bought a few other LensCoat lens covers for some of my other lenses.

Besides the anticipated lens protection from the inevitable bumps and bruises, it mitigates mishandling of the lens and consequential damage. The cover remains firmly in place during active handling of the lens on camera. In short, it does what it should do.

Tight fit, conforming nicely to the L-arm. Comfortable grip. Much better than holding onto cold metal!

This is the second LensCoat product I've purchased. This one was purchased for a Nikon 300 prime lens, primarily to protect it from light bangs and scratches when I'm out in the field and, secondarily, to make the lens less noticeable to wildlife when I'm shooting. It's a win on both counts. Easy to fit over the lens and holds up well.

First of all the fit is awesome! Secondly the Lens Coat cover offers protection against dings and scrapes which is why I purchased this cover. Although the lens is sharp and fast, it is not metal so damage is a concern and I must admit that I am not as steady as I once was. This cover offers a practical solution to protecting the lens. I often use this lens while shooting in a bird blind and often bump the lens while putting down. Thanks Lens Coat and B&H!
