The KanexPro 4K HDMI Extender Kit over Cat 6 230ftfrom KanexPro 4K HDMI Extender Kit over Cat 6 230ftsends and receives HDMI signals with up to UHD 4K60 resolution beyond the ability of a standard HDMI cable, extending both video and audio up to 230' over a single Cat 6/6e/7e cable with no latency. The kit consists of a transmitter unit with an HDMI input and RJ45 output and a receiver unit with an RJ45 input and HDMI output.

The transmitter also includes an HDMI output for a local display, and the receiver also includes a S/PDIF TOSLINK optical output to de-embed audio from the transmission. The kit also supports bidirectional IR pass-through and includes IR transmitter and receivers. Other features include HDCP 2.2, EDID, and HDR support.

Q: 1. Does the receiver support POE? If I were to put a POE injector on the Ethernet coming out of the transmitter.

A: The KanexPro HDMI Full HD Extender over Cat6 (196') does not support PoE as a power option.

Q: 2. Will this work with CAT5e?

A: We currently have Cat5e attached to it and it works fine. I purchased the one that stated Cat6 incase we upgrade in the future or move it to a different location.

Q: 3. Can these boxes be powered with 6 Volt batteries, if a-c power is not available? (Runtimes can be approximated from the current capacities of the provided a-c power supplies.)

A: These transmitters/receivers are designed for 5V. It is best to stick within the power requirements of the product to avoid causing damage.

Q: 4. In theory I should be able to connect an IR repeater to the HDMI switch. Any special cables or a specific repeater that should be compatible with this HDMI switch?

Q: 5. Apple - Has anyone confirmed this works to switch between a dell & a mac?

A: While we have not specifically tested using this device with both an Apple and Dell Computer, it should work with any product that outputs HDMI.

Q: 6. Does this unit support 3D input/output?

A: I have not used it with any 3D input so sorry but cannot answer your question.

Q: 7. Can this be used backwards? In other words, can it switch one input to one of two outputs? I would like to route an HDMI source to either my TV directly, or to my home stereo.

A: Yes it does, this has HDMI 2.0 connections.

Q: 9. my output device is displayPort, if i use an adaptor. Will that cause any issues?

A: Technically, it should work, however, it can cause issues depending on the content being displayed and the type of adapter used. Protected content requires compliant adapters. Additionally, anytime more adapters are added there is more possibility of issues.

Q: 10. does the signal hold on an inactive port? meaning if I have a computer connected to input 1, and I switch to input 2, does the computer on input 1 think that it has lost the connection?

A: We are not sure of the process but we know that you do not lose the signal and that you can switch back and forth at any time.
