The Hotshot DM1 Microphone Switcher from Radial Engineering is a durable and useful mic signal splitter and mute switch that enables vocalists to depress a temporary footswitch and mute their mic to redirect the signal either to an intercom system, stage monitor, or alternate signal chain. This handy stage accessory gives great flexibility for stage communication or signal control while remaining incredibly easy to use and taking up minimal space.

The DM1 is constructed of heavy-duty 14-gauge steel and has a number of useful applications onstage from muting a mic for coughing, to redirecting the signal for communication with stage crew or band members, to activating separate channels with unique FX chains like echo and reverb. The temporary footswitch only affects the signal while depressed, and returns normal routing upon release, while a convenient ground-lift switch can be used to eliminate pesky ground hum on the output. Q: 1. Does this version send a beep through the audio output when it's in pairing mode/when it loses signal with the device? The first version did, hoping this one solved that.

A: No, the Radial Engineering BT-PRO V2 Stereo Bluetooth Direct Box does not send any beep or chime sounds through the audio output when it is in pairing mode or if it loses Bluetooth signal with the device it is connected to.

Q: 2. Does this feed though phantom power?

A: According to the Radial manual: Although the DM1 may work in some cases with condenser mics, we do not recommend it due to power on/off transients which could cause the sound system to pop when switching. To be safe, only use the DM1 with dynamic mics.

Q: 3. Are there any case studies or videos that show the device in actual use? I don't understand how to use this device or what advantage it brings. The words, specs and examples aren't bringing it to life for me.

A: The INOGENI Toggle USB 3.0 Switcher allows a user to connect a set of USB devices and switch those devices from being connected to two different host computers.

A: NO it will NOT

A: It is our understanding that the Radial Engineering Catapult RX4 Cat 5Snake for Audio/AES Routing (Receiver) does a variety of configurations. This includes TX on one side and RX on the other.

Q: 6. Does this unit have auto-switching?

A: It does not auto-switch for any of the components I have. My alternative is to use the Logitech Harmony Elite Remote in order to switch the inputs in conjunction with the components currently in use. It does take a little customization on the input commands, but it works very well.

Q: 7. Will this allow me to switch between two simple camcorders (Sony HDR-CX405) and send the signal to a monitor?

A: Yes, the Kopul HDMI 2.0 5 x 1 Switcher would allow you to connect up to five HDMI sources, and toggle between the connected sources. You could output this to an HDMI monitor.

Q: 8. Someone asked me if they could use 1 port of the splitter for a wireless connection to laptop? I can't imagine that's possible.

A: Yes, you can use the HDMI input of the Kopul HDMI 2.0 5 x 1 Switcher with a laptop/computer that is set to output the supported input formats (listed below). The use case would be for sending a computer's output to multiple monitors. Please note, the signal would be a duplicate of the input signal and would display on up to five (5) target sources. A: This unit is meant to split audio only, and is wired differently than communication systems. We do carry a splitter for RTS, which is the Telex TW-5W 1 In, 5 Out Splitter Box, B&H # TETW5W.

[1.3 lb] While true, as mentioned in the previous review, that there are no thumb locks on the XLR connectors, this is common for many pro stage/studio DI and splitter boxes. I have used this box many times and have never had a connection issue. More importantly, to me, is the quality and size of the transformer. Yes, size matters, because without some iron mass it's easy to saturate the magnetic coupling in the low end. While this unit is the cheap version of the Radial splitter with a Jensen transformer, it is still way ahead of typical low cost splitters. Plus it has an extra output. Very solid for the price. 5

[Unlimited] I have a BMPCC4K and always had very low input when pulling through the miniXLR adaptor into the camera. Tried boosting it with a Cloudlifter (which worked great) but was cumbersome to take on shoot. This in-line preamp does the same exact job (at $50 less) and it low profile enough to just keep in your bag and give you a clean +28dB of gain. Highly recommended. 5

[Black] This device is being used during our worship services where the worship team leader is also a vocalist. While the button is depressed, it allows the primary (A) channel, which used for his house vocal to be switched to the alternate (B) channel to communicate with the other band members privately through their in-ear monitors and prompt them during a song. This unit is solidly built with a heavy gauge metal casing. The LED lights indicate the active channel. When the momentary footswitch is depressed, the B channel is activated. There is absolutely no click or popping noise in either channel as the switching occurs. This makes for a clean, distortion-free signal. The unit comes with an adapter which could have a longer cord for our application, but we easily made it work. Overall, it fits our application perfectly. 5

[Black] Our stadium PA system is under powered In regards to the amp. The Dynamite gives my dynamic mic the boost it needs for announcing. I HIGHLY recommend the Dynamite if you are looking for a signal boost. 5

[Black] I use this box to have my lead singer sing through one channel and be able to talk to the band on the second channel through their headphone mix.I have used alot of mic switchers and most tend to bleed into the second channel. This box takes it cleanly in to the second channel. Perfect tool for me. 5
