The Reloop TAPE USB Recorder lets you record a new live mix to share with friends or promoters online. This easy and secure digital recording device with the retro design of the beloved mixtape can be set up in three simple steps: Connect your USB drive, connect your mixer and input cable, and then press the record button.

The beauty of TAPE is that your mixes are recorded in digital MP3 format straight onto a USB drive. There's no need to burn the recording as it can be passed on to your friends or fed directly to your media player. Thanks to the selectable phono/line switch including a grounding post, digitalizing your vinyl classics using either a mixer or turntable is a breeze. Even mixers that do not feature a separate record output can be connected as Reloop has included a smart through port which routes the signal to the amplifier or speakers.

The recording quality can be adjusted to 192 or 320 kb/s via a switch, depending on your requirements and available storage space. Even in dark surroundings like nightclubs, convenient status LEDs keep you informed about the active power supply, whether a USB storage device is connected, current recordings, and whether the incoming levels are in the green or not.

A: No. The TASCAM Mixcast 4 Podcast Mixer, Recorder, and USB Audio Interface has one SD slot that is used for recording and playback.

Q: 2. Are you able to change the recording to either stereo or mono audio tracks on this device?

A: The TASCAM Mixcast 4 Podcast Mixer, Recorder, and USB Audio Interface has four mono mic inputs and two stereo line inputs. These cannot be swapped or reconfigured, but if you have a stereo microphone for example, you can record the left and right channels as mono tracks and group them into a stereo track in your DAW or audio editor.

Q: 3. does this unit have echo, delay, and reverb ?

A: No, the Tascam Mixcast 4 Podcast Mixer, Recorder, and USB Audio Interface does have any built-in effects like echo, delay, or reverb.

Q: 4. can you record single tracks at a time, or overdub onto a track?

A: Yes you can do both.

Q: 5. whats the max size usb / portable drive it can support?

A: Reloop claims there is no storage size limit for external HD's, although when using a USB memory stick a 32GB max is recommended for best performance. FAT formatting is required as well.

Q: 6. If I use this as an audio interface recording into DaVinci Resolve/Audacity with multiple mics, does it record each mic as separate, individual tracks or is it all mixed down into one track?

A: When used as an audio interface, the TASCAM Mixcast 4 Podcast Mixer, Recorder, and USB Audio Interface will capture all tracks individually.

Q: 7. Dumb question; is it real wood or wood grain veneer?

A: No. It is veneer.

Q: 8. According to reviews the Mixcast 4 saves the files as a proprietary polywav file. Does it also save a stereo mix in mp3 or similar format?

A: The Tascam Mixcast 4 allows you to record in multi-track or stereo mixes and saves the files on an SD memory card in WAV format at 48 kHz, 24-bit, 2-channel stereo / 14-channel poly (BWF format). You can also route the output from the Mixcast 4 to a Mac or Windows computer, or to an iOS or Android device for a 14-in / 2-out audio capture on the external device. The files recorded on the Mixcast 4 can also be exported in 2-channel stereo WAV, MP3, and MP4 formats.

Q: 9. Is this possible to use with teams/zoom meetings where I can turn off headphone monitoring, and hear audio with no feedback?

A: Yes, live monitoring can be disabled on the TASCAM Mixcast 4 Podcast Mixer, Recorder, and USB Audio Interface.

Q: 10. Now in 2023, is there an update to this product?

A: Reloop offers two different models of their TAPE USB Audio Interface - the original Reloop TAPE USB Recorder (B&H # REMRLRC), which uses a power adapter and records MP3 format only straight onto a USB drive, and the Reloop Tape 2 Portable Mixtape Recorder (B&H # REUSBMXTPREC), which uses an internal rechargeable lithium-ion battery and records lossless WAV or MP3 format to a microSD memory card.

[USB Flash Drive] I thoroughly shopped before choosing an interface, consulting with sound pros. They convinced me that I would not be disappointed with this purchase and they're right!

[0.855 lb] Plead guilty to having more money than common sense in this regard and therefore, at the moment, I have both devices (line out from Rode to Mixcast downstream) and they are both very well built, big bang for the bucks and very comparable. Comes down to personal preference. I have long experience with Tascam products, not so with Rode. Mixcast sliders VERY smooth and absolutely silent. Rode a tiny bit rough and tiny noise. Mix stores more sound pad recordings because it utilizes the SD card. Rode uses limited internal memory. With a little larger display, Mix shows sound pad labels WITH the VU meter (a biggie for me). Rode on separate screen page. Rode has quicker access to Mic modifications with dedicated buttons above sliders. Mix has fun voice changer that can be assigned to a sound pad button (for one mic). Rode uses micro SD cards (and I personally hate those tiny things) whereas Mix uses full size. To these old ears, sound quality comparable which I happen to think is largely a matter of Mic anyway (and BTW I highly recommend the Shure FM7Bs). So, MY personal preference is the Mixcast but only by a nose. Me thinks, one can't go wrong.

[Desktop] The mixer is very easy and quick to set up, feels solid and well made, and can work for a many different types of projects. I set mine up for a podcast in under ten minutes with limited knowledge on audio mixers, so it is very intuitive and the multi-track recording made it very easy to edit and publish.
