Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this radio need to be programmed?

A: No it does not.

Q: 2. Do I need a license to use this walkie-talkie?

A: No. These radios operate in the public air wave spectrum, so no FCC license required.

Q: 3. What is the transmit power watts ?

A: The T77VP5 is rated a little under 2 watts, so it can be sold into Canada as well as the US.

Q: 4. What are available headset options for this 2-way LXT630VP3. I have seen 2 different VOX systems on other radios, but I do not know what is compatible with above mentioned radio model #? Thankyou, Margaret

A: You can use the Midland AVP-H3 Surveillance Headset - Pair (B&H # MIAVPH3) and Midland AVP-H4 Wrap Around the Ear Headset - Pair (B&H # MIAVPH4) with the Midland LXT630VP3 2-Way Radio.

Q: 5. Does it include charger and battery?

A: Thank you for your question. this unit will come with both the charger with wall wart and battery.

Q: 6. What digital Mode does this radio transmit on. I do not mean the frequency hoping capability. Is Digital mode DMR or NXDN or P25?

A: According to Motorola's technical support, it is nether. Furthermore, there aren't any public whitepapers or specifications available on the DTR series to determine which digital radio standard (DMR, P25, dPMR, OpenSky, NXDN) is being employed. In my research, I did find one source that claimed it was a P25 radio, but Motorola said it was not. Conversely, if you are interested in a P25 radio, you can look at Motorola's APX portable radios.

Q: 7. The FCC authorizes 22 channels for FRS and GRMS. A small number of radios provide an additional 8 GMRS repeater channels. Does this radio provide repeater channels? In any case, where does the 38 channel figure come from?

A: The T77VP5 is an FRS radio and does not have repeater channels. The additional channels (23-38) are channels with hard-coded privacy codes attached to them. The manual provides more detailed information.

Q: 8. Does this have accessory jack for handheld microphone?

A: Motorola does not offer a handheld microphone for this radio.

Q: 9. How many radios can be on one channel?

A: As many as you need.

Q: 10. Can I use the Motorola CLS 1410 to communicate with these?

A: Radios operating on UHF channels such as the Motorola CLS1410 will not communicate with radios operating on VHF channels such as the Motorola MOTOTRBO CP200d Portable 5W 16-Channel Analog/Digital 2-Way Radio (VHF Band). If the UHF version of the CP200d is selected (BH #MOCP200DU) there is a possibility that the two radios could communicate if programmed to the same frequency channels.

[Yes] My Wife has been confined to bed since October of 2008. We use this Radio for in house and surrounding areas for quick and easy communication. After buying and returning several 2 way Radios for inadequate Audio, the CLS-1110 produces a clear and crisp Audio and is a simple device to operate. All in all the best of the bunch. I can find little that is wrong with the radio

[Yes] Radios were purchased to allow teachers stay in contact with each other and the office, inside and out. They have better reception and clarity than any other we have tried. Hopefully will last for years.

[16x Repeater] The Motorola CLS - 1110 is a fine handheld radio. It has decent range and can be programmed so as not to interfere with other radio frequencies. More than the radio, however, I was totally sold on the customer service I got from B&H. It was as good as I could have imagined leaving no room to ask for more. Thanks-

[Yes] These were invaluable on set when we were lighting a shot through windows. No more pantomime through the glass. They worked great. I only needed them to function on-location within about 100 feet of our shoot and they did the trick. Lasted for hours and hours and very little interference which is notable since I was in Orlando close to the parks.

[Yes] The CLS-1110 2-way radio by Motorola is small, lightweight and easily accessible for my assisted living staff. If only there was a way to eliminate the protruding antenna (can easily get in the way), this would be the world's most perfect unit!

[16x Repeater] We had some difficulty getting all five walkie-talies to communicate on the same channel. But, as they say: when everything else fails, follow the instructions, the units are performing exactly as we needed. The easy way to program the channel was by using the multi-charger unit.
