Sporting the large light bucket users have come to expect from a Dob, the Explore Scientific 12" f/5 Truss Tube Dobsonian Telescopegives users awe-inspiring performance at a reasonable price. Its large parabolic primary mirror is highly reflective and is engineered to correct spherical aberration, which eliminates distortion across the entire field of view, especially at the edges. The large 12" aperture draws in copious amounts of light to show the minutia on the Moon and planetary surfaces, reveal deep sky objects that smaller scopes simply cannot not see, and resolve bright star clusters to their core. Its f/5 focal ratio and 10:1 dual-speed helical focuser makes this an ideal choice for imaging. The fast focal ratio enables devices to capture images in less time than slower scopes, while the unique focusing mechanism employed in the helical design gives it the ability to achieve tack-sharp focusing with zero backlash that rack-and-pinion focusers are generally unable to. This 2" focuser will accept larger eyepieces so users can enjoy a truly immersive visual experience and will ensure larger imaging sensors are completely covered.

The rocker box weighs-in at just over 15 pounds and provides a rock-steady observational platform with very-low vibration. This rocker mount features high-altitude bearings with aluminum structures that allow for fine adjustment flows at high magnifications, and dual radial primary mirror fans to quickly adjust the temperature to reduce mirror distortion. Finally, the tension control handle allows users to adjust the settings allowing them to move the mount easily and smoothly by hand with minimal vibration and maintain its position when released.

Q: 2. Will this [safely] fit a 130mm (5.1") reflector?

A: This is made for 127mm Telescopes I do not believe this will work with a 130mm Scope. My apologies.

Q: 3. How much does this cradle assembly weigh?

A: It weighs about 2 lbs.

Q: 4. I have a 114 mm telescope I know this would probably be too big do you have a recommendation anything close would be good.

A: 114mm = 4.48819 inches. The closest size rings B&H would carry would be the Tele Vue Mount Ring Set for 4" OTAs BH #TEMTS4Q • MFR #MRS-4011 or the Vixen Optics Tube Rings with 115mm Inner Diameter (Pair) BH #VITRW115 • MFR #ES2665

Q: 5. Hi, I would like to know The dimensions of the tube, the Ota, how long is the tube, please?

A: The OTA is 24.25 inches in length. 4.38 inches in diameter and weighs approximately 5.60 lbs.

Q: 6. Can be mounted with goto system?

A: Can the tube assembly be removed from the mount?

[f/5] This telescope it’s just great. I’m a beginner and after several weeks of research; I take the choice to buy this and brin it to my country, Colombia, so can you imagine all the things I had to have in mind...first than nothing It’s huge !!! Second it’s beautiful; I’m a industrial designer and the high end of this product it’s a great, the materials and the details look so nice. The assembly was easy, the up and down system/design is soft, and keep the balance; the only thing maybe you have to do, it’s to re- install the white pieces where the traction happen... this because the employees maybe made an a fast installation and they look crooked, so maybe you have to remove them and put them back correctly ... one of the screw was no deeply, so this generate a track in the tread, very important check this ! The base is very nice and gives an strong support, easy to turn. The super plossl piece it’s nice, I was watching Jupiter and it’s clear ... I buy two more eye pieces ... Meadle 4.5 mm and Orion 8 mm they work nice with the dobsobian. I make a base for moving with 4 wheels because it’s a little heavy. The laser point works fine, you just have to make a set up for a correctly point correctly. I really recommend this telescope, you will not disappointed for the price and the product... easy to assembly, easy to use, easy to love it !! Clear skies !!

[2"] Love This Scope,It Gives Great Planetary Views, and Some Deep Space Objects Like The Orion Nebula and Star Clusters Are Amazing,Very Little Fringing Or Chromatic Aberration Around Bright Objects,But If You Want To Image,I Suggest a Stronger Mount,But For Visual,It Works Great

[Yes] Perfect and solidly built, all metal. I actually bought this for an ETX125 OTA and it fits perfectly.

[1525 mm] This picture was taken with a Canon 40D with a T2 adaptor, no other optics used. Minimal processing.

[1525 mm] The Explore Scientific AR102 is an excellent intermediate scope. The 102mm glass catches a lot of light and provides a great deal of detail with a low Dawes limit. The controls are smooth and solid. Because of its' long focal length, a more substantial mount would be useful to prevent some wobbling during adjustments. I would definitely buy this scope again.

[f/5] The 114mm Reflector was very easy to set up and begin using. This alt-azimuth mount is so much simpler to use than an EQ mount. The lower power of the telescope was great for helping my parents to find objects easily. The entire setup is both very sturdy and easy to move. We were able to immediately start seeing images of the crescent moon and a very rough outline of the Andromeda Galaxy.

[f/5] I have had this scope for a few weeks now and the optics are great. I do some visual but usually I do astrophotography using ASI AIR PLUS and a ZWO ASI 183MC camera. The images I get are great and stars are tack sharp with no color bloating or fringing.
Files are FITS files and as soon as I figure out how to use a good photo processing program my photos will look better. Only wish the focusing tube was longer so I dont need to ad so many adapters extensions to reach focus, But everyone go's thru that issue.Scope works great with a DSLR also. I am glad I bought it and B&H delivered fast and well packaged.
