[Canon RF] I've already used this lens on three different projects and it is genuinely incredible how much character and filmic quality it adds to footage. I use this lens with the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4k and the combination of size and focal length make it an ideal No. 1 lens for narrative and music video work. I can fly it on the DJI RS2 easily. I also have the Vazen 40mm, which is another incredible lens, but in terms of ease of use, the 28mm tops it - thanks mostly to its reduced size and increased depth of field. It makes it much more ideal for fast moving shots where it's important to still keep most of the frame in focus. The flares on this lens are absolutely gorgeous as well. The only minor gripe is that the aperture ring does feel like it moves a bit too easily. I haven't had any problems with it slipping so far, but that's the only thing I've really noticed. Otherwise, WOW!

[T2.2] After reading the review in NewsShooter I thought I'd give these a go. They are my first anamorphic lenses (usually so expensive).


Even though I'm using this on my URSA Mini (super 35) with PL mount, the image captured is lovely - probably the sweet spot of the lens. It's full of character, but not too much. Sharp enough, but not clinical. The mechanics feel good and smooth build quality is solid.


They are quite a nice wide anamorphic 1.8x squeeze. For some recordings of the landscape in our valley, I wanted to capture a full panoramic. So recording to the full sensor (16:9) and then de-squeezing without cropping I ended up with a 3.3:1 panoramic. Obviously I won't be delivering a commercial project in that aspect ratio, but for my home recordings it's lovely to see such a vista captured in one shot.


I can highly recommend.

[T2.2] I bought this lens due to having an ease of use rather then my Projection Lens set up.For an Anamorphic Lens,this lens is quite Sharp.The Anamorphic characteristics are quite on par with a lot of the more expensive ones.A lot of people complain that this lens is heavy.Well,what anamorphic lens that has a 1.8-2x stretch which are not? In fact this has to be the lightest 1.8-2x stretch anamorphic lens to date.That was before the 28mm though.For a telephoto anamorphic lens that has a close to 2x stretch which brings out true anamorphic characteristics,its a no brainer.Amazing that we live in times where we can actually own one of this kind of lenses.Ohh did i mention the price? Cheapest out there for a 1.8x.Thats right.

[T2.2] If you are on the fence about Vazen, do not hesitate to purchase. This lens delivers a gorgeous and wide anamorphic image. It isn’t too heavy and the cine gears are great. Works well with the Blackmagic Pocket 4K. I get excited every time I use this lens. Worth every penny.

[MFT] This thing is sharp at t2 which is not common amongst anamorphic lenses. Paired with a z cam e2, black magic 4K or GH5 and you have a killer anamorphic setup for an affordable price. Well built and a ton of fun to use.

[Imperial] This lens is nothing short of amazing. Sharp - even wide open, at 2.8/4 you wouldn’t want the image any sharper.
Flare is beautiful, squeeze and bokeh looks amazing...
A real anamorphic lens for this price - paired with a Blackmagic pocket 4K - it’s an amazing combo ! My favorite - personally.

[77 mm] This lens gives the image quality I’ve been looking for in a package that has never been so easy to work with. The gears and focus thread allow me to pull focus while on gimbal and use light weight 77mm filters and diopters! I use this lens wide open all the time and love it! Give it a try!

[MFT] Beautiful image - more than impressed with how things turned out. Shot a 15-minute film with just this lens.

[77 mm] Alright, this is my first anamorphic and cinema lens. I went back and forth for about a year on what would be my first cinema lens and i went this route based on the few videos i have seen on youtube. I'm not a professional in the filmmaking world (trying though) however I know quality and art when I see it. There's not a lot of info on these, and after figuring out how to monitor them correctly, and color grade the footage (I have a canon r5c and use final cut to grade them) I tossed it up on my big screen TV and was shook... i dont know if BH will take this down but here is some test footage and a quick color grading.

[T2.2] Excellent value! Just make sure to buy a 82mm close-up vivitar lens set as well as it will make this lens a lot more useful and also mitigate some of its weaker points. Weight is great as well. Overall this is a very good mix of Anamorphic bliss for full frame sensors and image quality especially when you want flares a little more controlled. I'm using it with the Red V-Raptor VV.
