The KH 150 is a powerful bi-amplified studio monitor with reference-class performance. Its 6.5" woofer in a bass reflex cabinet provides stunning low-end and high-end SPL capability with undiminished clarity. DSP-controlled electronics ensure linear phase response and allow for room-adaptive calibration using Neumann's revolutionary MA 1 Automatic Monitor Alignment system.

The KH 150 follows the same philosophy as all Neumann studio monitors: highest linearity, lowest distortion, no coloration, and perfect adaptability to any acoustic environment. It allows you to hear every nuance of your tracks. Once you eliminate the guesswork, mixing becomes so much faster and easier, not to mention more creative. It sounds amazing, but can you get away with that? Is that vocal bright or sibilant? Is it too much bass? The KH 150 will tell you—honestly.

  • What differentiates the KH 150 from its smaller siblings is its deeper bass response down to 39 Hz. That’s almost as low as the larger KH 310, which is made possible by the KH 150’s novel 6.5” high-precision woofer in a carefully designed bass reflex cabinet.
  • The KH 150 is ideally suited to urban music, EDM, film scoring, and all styles that require extended low-end and/or elevated listening levels.
  • Thanks to powerful amplifiers (145W/100W) and sophisticated protection limiters, no clarity is lost even at high SPLs.
  • The KH 150 works just as well for everything from rock to classical music, broadcast applications and voice-over work.
  • The KH 150 has an exceptionally linear frequency response from 39 Hz to 21 kHz (±3 dB). Not only that, it also linearizes the phase response, which translates to clear mids with astonishing transparency and extreme accuracy in the time domain, (i.e. precise impulse reproduction and finely resolved reverbs.) This is made possible by DSP-controlled electronics that allow for sophisticated crossovers and avoid the phase distortion caused by analog filters.
  • The internal DSP also achieves new standards in tonal consistency, as the KH 150 is made to extremely low tolerances of no more than ±0.8 dB.

  • Even the best loudspeaker only sounds as good as the acoustic environment allows. Neumann’s Mathematically Modeled Dispersion (MMD) waveguide guarantees a wide sweet spot and minimizes desk reflections. But the KH 150 goes much further—its internal DSP allows for room calibration using Neumann’s revolutionary Automatic Monitor Alignment system.
  • The MA 1 (sold separately) makes sure your DSP-powered monitors are optimally adapted to your room’s characteristics and perfectly calibrated for your listening position. Even in acoustically treated rooms, this results in a huge improvement.

Neumann engineers worked painstakingly to develop a patent-pending amplifier technology that combines superior audio performance with Class-D energy efficiency. Although the KH 150's amplifiers deliver up to 145W to the 6.5" woofer and 100W to the 1" tweeter, they only consume 17W at idle. And an optional auto-standby mode can be enabled to reduce power consumption to 0.3W when the KH 150 is not in use.

Q: 10. How do these speakers sound without the subwoofer? Asking for video production.

A: The JBL 306P MkII Powered 6.5" Two-Way Studio Monitors are very popular monitors that are commonly used for recording and video production without a subwoofer. The 306P MkII includes a 6.5" woofer and 1" tweeter, and has a frequency range of 39 Hz to 24 kHz (at -10 dB). If your audio has a lot of content in the frequency range below 39 Hz, then you may want to use a subwoofer along with the studio monitors.

[Active 2-Way] Buy it. You won't regret it. For playback these are wonderful. Sounds so clear and for well produced/mixed music you hear everything. Vice versa for things that aren't. You hear everything. I still use headphones to properly mix/edit with.

[Anthracite Gray] These are superb monitors for video editing- and so much fun to listen to for every genre of music. Be careful to set them up properly so each speaker delivers the sound to you at the same time- and use a high quality DAC- and your music and mixes will be delivered exactly as they should be.

[Single Monitor] Very flat and useful to gauge every single part of a mix. Had a listen to them in a show room, and are comparable in quality to the Solo6. They are different than the solo6 in the low end, they have tighter bass but not as extended. However, the low end is much more accurate than on the solo6. The tweeter is great, not as amazing as the beryllium of the solo series, but for the price, you have to make a concession. They are the most workable small factor speakers I've listen to aside from the Solo6. Great bang for the buck!

[Anthracite Gray] Upgraded from 8040A with auto stand by feature. Practically the same. Very sturdy. Great for tracking (recording) and editing but not for mixing (as with any near-field out there)

[Single Monitor] Well it is true with the KH 310.
Clean, accurate, detailed.
You don't realize how muddy others sound until you hear the mix through this thing.

[Vertical] Very accurate and neutral near-field monitors with enormous dynamic range. Perfect for hi-res audio playback as well as recording monitoring. Built in and very clever sound isolation mounts that, in most cases, eliminate the need for third-party additions. Rear panel equalization settings accommodates most environments.

[Single Monitor] I have these on my computer desk and the sub near by. It is really fantastic imaging and sound.

It is worth using the MA1 mic and the Neumann software to EQ your monitors. The software takes a little bit to work through, but you only need to do it once. Fortunately, I had a metric tape measure. It only reports distances in cm.

I used the Genelec 8000-437B VESA Adapter and some short desktop VESA monitor mounts. It mounts on the KH80 perfectly.

These guys can get pretty loud, especially for near-field listening. I set the maximum volume (in Roon) to -24 dB and comfort to -30 dB.

The automatic standby is a bit temperamental. I find they come out of standby every now and then, but it's only noticable from the front light.

[Active 2-Way] Finally had time to set up & break-in. Listened to an old David Bowie CD, heard things I never heard before. Nice hi-end. On the low end, the Passive Radiators are finally back in style. (Bass Ports always were a compromise) Bought on recommendation from others, They sound so good I could cry, knowing what I missed all these years. In my opinion, cant be beat for the price, by a long shot. The Auto-Off can come into play at low listening levels, not really any big deal, just turn it up for a few seconds & your back in business. Thank You Focal!
