Offering studio-quality sound, always within reach, the MM-500 is truly the next level of performance in pro audio. Whether you're stepping up from the LCD-X or from another brand, the MM-500 will be as much a part of your life as your favorite pair of sneakers.

The MM-500's planar magnetic drivers provide realism that audio professionals like Manny "can't live without." With lightning-fast transients, accurate frequency response and trusted mix translation powered by Audeze's patented innovations, the MM-500 produces unparalleled audio quality that other headphones can only dream of.

Planar magnetic technology differs from traditional dynamic cone designs by suspending a thin lightweight diaphragm within a parallel plane comprised of an array of magnets. The diaphragm is much lighter when compared to a traditional dynamic cone and has a printed circuit spread across a thin film substrate on the surface of the diaphragm as opposed to a cone attached to a voice coil. When the audio signal from the amplifier reaches the circuit, it magnetizes the diaphragm within the field and produces sound.

The benefits of a planar magnetic design include faster transient response due to the lighter diaphragm, a wide frequency with low distortion, better heat dissipation, fewer moving parts for greater durability without the kind of sonic degradation for which cones are susceptible, and better amplifier compatibility because the circuit functions as an almost entirely restive load.

The magnetic structure creates a uniform magnetic field across the diaphragm without the need for additional ferromagnetic material traditionally found in other planar headphones to remove magnetic interference, reduce harmonic distortion, and lower overall weight. The headphones also feature Audeze's patent-pending Fazor elements that guide and manage the flow of sound through the earcups for a more enveloping sound stage and improved frequency extension.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I want to use this as a Bluetooth transmitter on my receiver... the receiver only has RCA jacks.. there are no RCA inputs on the BTA30 Pro... any way to work around this?

A: Receivers do not typically have outputs available for compatibility with a bluetooth transmitter. Some receivers have an RCA output for Zone 2 output. You can use the Fiio BTA30 Pro as a bluetooth receiver with your AV receiver by going from the RCA Line Outputs into the included RCA cable and then into one of the RCA stereo inputs on your AV receiver. If your AV receiver has RCA output, you can use BH #GEATVDA to convert the signal to optical, so that you can go into the optical input of the Fiio BTA 30 Pro and use it as a transmitter.

Q: 7. I am searching for a bluetooth transmitter which will allow me to play music on my PC and listen on my Sony WH-1000XM4 headphones. So far most bluetooth adapters/transmitters have failed at this task, and my understanding is that this is because these headphones only supportSBC/AAC/LDAC codec. This BTA30 transmitter appears promising however - do you know if it works with the Sony WH-1000XM4 headphones? Thanks, Ben

A: According to Page 03 in the manual for the Fiio BTA30 Pro; When working in LDAC and aptX LL Bluetooth codec in TX mode, the BTA30 cannot be connected to two Bluetooth devices simultaneously. Therefore, you would need to connect via wire from the computer into the FiiO BTA30 Pro and then you will be able to use your Sony WH-1000XM4 headphones with the Fiio BTA30 Pro.

[Stereo] Impressively easy to drive, great sound that doesn't require EQ. Quite heavy but normal for this type of headphone.

[18 Ohms] Use these every day and they are comfortable (I sometimes wear them for 6-8 hours) and the sound is simply astounding. Forget Bose, forget Beats, forget Master And Dynamic ,forget B&O, forget Sennheiser... this is where it is at if you want the best. Will run from your portable device or will be even better with a nice head amp. Best I have heard and I have had some big money headphone setups!

[18 Ohms] Before buying these, I had the opportunity to listen to them, other Audeze headphones, and some high-end headphones at the B&H store on 9th Ave. I strongly recommend doing this if you can. The sales assistant was a pleasure, a man who enthusiastically enjoyed his work, as he led me through a educational tour of headphones from $1K to +$3K.  He convinced me once and for all of the advantages of open back headphones, which is not what I was initially going to buy.

These headphones are a delight, and well worth their price. Bass is thumping, clear, crisp, and deep, vocals are precise, rounded, and well defined, the highs are pinpoints beautifully separated, without ringing, sibilence, hissing, or clashing.  The sound stage is perfect, wide, but not artificially too wide.  Compared to the Audio Technica M50x, these headphone are as revealing, but more musical.  There is a limit to how long I can listen to the M50x. So far I havent found a limit with these.

Like the M50, the  LCD-X requires a good source, because youre going to hear everything thats there, as well as everything that isnt.  I am using a Hiby R6 to listen to MP3s and .WAV files, and a Roland R7 to listen to some orchestral works recorded in Hi Res. with excellent results.

One complaint, despite what is advertised, these headphones do not come with a 1/4 to 1/8 adapter.  Make sure to order one at the same time.

[100 dB ] I own several quality headphones. THE BETTER REVIEWERS ALWAYS COMPARE THE AUDEZE LCD-X to every headphone they review. So I bit the bullet and bought them from reliable B&H.
And I can plug them into my laptop. Unbelievable quality.I really enjoy these.

[5000 mW] I got these for personal use and love them so far. They have a fairly neutral sound signature with a slightly warm emphasis and a dip in the highs. This is exactly what I'm into, I don't feel the need to EQ these like many other reviewers seem to. The bass feels very strong and well controlled without being overpowering. Bass heavy songs still sound very bassy, despite the overall neutral sound. As someone who is pretty sensitive to treble and bass, I don't find these fatiguing to listen to for long periods. The first potential drawback I can see with is the weight. These are the heaviest headphones I've personally ever owned, which is due to the all metal construction and also I believe the magnets themselves in planar magnetic headphones are often pretty hefty. I still find these very comfortable to wear for long periods though, the earpads and head strap are great. Another possible drawback is the soundstage: it's ok, but I'd say these are not the headphones to get if super wide soundstage is a high priority. If, for example, positional audio in games is very important to you, these just aren't going to compete with something like the HD800. Overall though, I'm really happy with these for $1200 and plan on using these as my primary headphones for the foreseeable future.
