Record up to four people in person with the built-in mic pres, which accept XLR-1/4" connections for all manner of microphones. In addition, you'll find stereo line inputs with selectable 1/4" or 3.5mm connections to interface with phones and consumer devices. Pair this with a Bluetooth input for wireless connections to phones and devices, and you'll have everything you need to capture audio for all your guests.

Stereo line inputs and the Bluetooth inputs both come with mix-minus functionality, so your remote guests won't hear an echo of themselves when they're talking.

Four independently controlled headphone outputs are on hand, but that's not all. A 3.5mm TRRS headphone output mirrors headphone output 1, should you only have a headset with a 3.5mm connection on hand. The Mixcast 4 also provides a Talkback function that allows you to speak to the participants privately over their headphones, as well as guests connected via USB, smartphone, and Bluetooth.

With 8 faders and 8 sound pads (in 8 banks) under your fingers, you'll feel like a consummate professional. You'll have full sound pad control for editing and triggering sound effects, and transport functionality for one-touch recording. Adjust levels between pads and switch sound pad banks while recording for access to more sounds. There's even a normalizing function for pad sources.

Export files in WAV, MP3, and MP4 formats.

Record to an SD card to work without a computer, or route the Mixcast 4 into a Mac, Windows, iOS, or Android device for a 14-in / 2-out audio capture.

The Mixcast 4 comes with TASCAM's Podcast Editor software, for basic editing and mixing duties as well as control over the sound pads.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Has anyone tried the USB Power Cable from Rode (DC-USB1) to see if it works? The voltage is the same, and the screw-on connector looks identical.

A: We do not recommend using the Rode DC-USB1 USB Power Cable with the Tascam Mixcast 4. The RodeCaster Pro uses AC power while the Mixcast 4 requires DC power. Tascam specifically points out that only the included Tascam power adapter should be used to power the Mixcast 4. Using adapters from other manufacturers may cause damage and will definitely void your warranty.

Q: 2. I'm considering using for streaming hybrid meetings - are there lapel mics that are compatible?

A: Any Lavalier (lapell) mic with an XLR connector will work with this recorder.

Q: 3. Can I use this device to conect a camcorder or cell phone who use to record or stream a Podcast? Thanks

A: Yes, connections below: Host Connection 1 x USB Type-C (I/O) 1 x USB Type-C (Bus-Power Only) Connectivity Analog I/O 4 x XLR 3-Pin Female Balanced Mic Input 4 x 1/8" / 3.5 mm TRS Female Unbalanced Headphone Output 1 x 1/8" / 3.5 mm TRRS Female Unbalanced Aux Input 1 x 2.5 mm TRRS Female Unbalanced Remote Input

Q: 4. Can I use a broadcast headset to record and monitor? Like the Sennheiser HMD 300 which uses a 4 pin XLR

A: Yes, you can use a broadcast headset such as the Sennheiser HMD 300 with the Zoom PodTrak P4 Portable Multitrack Podcast Recorder to record and monitor audio. However, you will need to use a different cable with the headset since the 4-pin XLR cable and connector is not compatible with the mic input and headphone output on the PodTrak P4. To enable compatibility, you can use the Sennheiser Cable-II-X3K1-Gold Straight Cable with XLR & 1/4" Connectors for HMD Headsets - 6.6' (B&H # SECBLIIX3K1G) which will allow you to connect the headset mic to a 3-pin XLR input and connect the headphones to the dedicated 1/4" TRS output.

Q: 5. How does this compare to the H4N pro ?

A: The Zoom PodTrak P4 Portable Multitrack Podcast Recorder has a feature set that is ideal for portable podcasting. It has 4 microphone inputs and 4 individual headphone outputs where the Zoom H4n Pro has two microphone inputs and one headphone output. The H4n Pro has onboard microphones where the Podtrak P4 does not. The Podtrak P4 also has pads for triggering sound effects as well as the ability to loop in phone calls in several ways.

Q: 6. Can I use this as an "audio-interface" via USB to record the inputs in Logic Pro and other DAW software?

A: Yes, the Tascam Mixcast 4 Podcast Mixer, Recorder, and USB Audio Interface can be used as an audio interface to facilitate input connection over USB and serve as the audio source in DAW software programs such as Logic Pro.

Q: 7. Does the Zoom PodTrak come with an SD card? If not, which SD card make and model do you recommend?

A: No, the PodTrak P4 does not include an SD card. We recommend SanDisk brand SD cards class 10 or higher.

Q: 8. I use a podcast software called Spreaker. Can I use the podtrak 4 to connect to my MAC? The biggest problems I have is echo.

A: The Zoom PodTrak P4 Portable Multitrack Podcast Recorder can serve as a 2-input, 2-output audio interface, allowing you to record directly to your computer, Android or iOS device.

Q: 9. Is there any way to enable and configure noisegate in Zoom P4? If yes, can you do this through built controls, or do you need an app or computer program to configure it?

A: The Zoom P4 does not have a specific noise reduction option. For a recorder with built in noise reduction features, the Zoom P8 would be a better choice.

Q: 10. SMPTE in or out?

A: The Zoom PodTrak P4 Portable Multitrack Podcast Recorder does not have timecode support.

[8x Fader] I'm a journalist who records voice overs and many interviews, both over phones and via Zoom, in a home studio. I've used the Rodecaster Pro, Rodecaster Pro II, Focusrite Vocaster 2 and now the Tascam Mixcast 4. For my work, I prefer the Tascam device over the others. The Rodecaster Pro II would work fine one minute and need a re-set the next. It was too complex and not reliable enough for my work.

The Tascam does it all for me and is rock solid reliable. It it built well and the latest software is very stable and intuitive. I like having separate Bluetooth and hard-wired mobile phone interface. All the features are naturally laid out and easier to use than the other devices.

Though the included DAW is nice, I tend to use stereo files sent to the desktop of my iMac. At the $299 B&H price, this device is very cost effective and an excellent performer.

[≥ 95 dB ] Tried and true. The Mixcast 4 is a beast,...user friendly, and an absolute contender for it's competitor. The bundle package is the best option (imo) to go with, particularly if you want to have the full set up day one.

[4] I thoroughly shopped before choosing an interface, consulting with sound pros. They convinced me that I would not be disappointed with this purchase and they're right!
