Shoot full frame cine images at a wide-open T1.4 while bringing that renowned "Cooke Look" to your images with the S8/i Full Frame Plus 75mm T1.4 Prime Lens from Cooke. This 75mm lens is part of Cooke's S8/i lens set and features a PL mount for rock-solid mounting. It shares consistent focus and iris gear positions across the S8/i lineup for fast lens swaps while optically providing a warm, long-lens feel for portrait-like shots with an organic feel that does not sacrifice sharpness. Shooting at T1.4 allows you to get an extra stop of exposure when shooting in dim conditions or chasing that last shot of the day. With a focal length of 75mm, this lens can provide a shallow depth of field for impressionistic imagery.

Designed to cover full frame cinema camera sensors and suitable for studio, location, handheld, stabilizer, and drone shooting, it is color-matched to other Cooke lenses and has focus markings on both sides of the lens. The PL mount incorporates i/Technology contacts that feed lens information metadata to compatible cameras, including focus distance, aperture, and depth of field. A cam-type focus mechanism with a large lens barrel diameter allows for precision focus markings, especially at close focus, while the 9-leaf iris is marked in whole and thirds of a stop for accurate exposure.

All S8/i FF lenses have a common fixed front diameter of 104mm, with a focus drive gear of 140T x 0.8 MOD and an iris drive gear of 134T x 0.8.

This lens is delivered in an ARRI PL mount, which can be adapted to an ARRI LPL mount via an optional adapter. The lens is available in a native ARRI LPL mount by special order.

The optics feature controlled flaring, low distortion, and limited spherical aberration, and they are color-balanced to match the profile of other Cooke cinema lenses, so they can fit right into your existing kit.

The lens features an Academy Award-winning cam-style focus movement coupled with the benefit of a large lens barrel diameter, which allows for an increased number of focus markings, particularly at close focus. A four-point contact bearing also provides smooth positive backlash-free movement.

Every focus mark throughout the 270° focus rotation is individually calibrated and engraved on both sides of the focus barrel for precise focus pulls in feet or meters.

Cooke S8/i FF lenses have a 9-leaf linear iris with a maximum aperture of T1.4 across the majority of the lens lineup. This allows for greater control over depth of field and flare characteristics while still providing excellent low-light performance.

The S8/i FF lenses also feature the latest Cooke /i lens data technology that provides focus and iris position as well as motion/inertia, mapping, shading, distortion, and calibration data. It is accessible via a cable connector near the lens mount and synchronizes with /i compatible cameras and accessories. The electronics board has also been resized and repositioned for easy serviceability.

The lenses are designed for all shooting applications, including handheld, stabilizer, and even drone work, providing a comfortable balance ratio with the latest compact digital cinema cameras.

Every Cooke lens is coated with a scratch-resistant PTFE hard-anodized finish that provides a durable, hard-wearing surface to meet the most demanding environmental conditions.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. what's the different between Canon EF and EF mount?

A: Two different locking systems. PL mount systems grip the lens firmly with a four-point friction lock instead of the EF mount's leaf-spring.

Q: 2. Does this product come with rear caps?

A: Yes, a rear lens cap is included with the Cooke M Mount for SP3 Primes.

Q: 3. Can I use a M-mount SP3 Prime on a Leica M mount camera without issue?

A: The Cooke M Mount for SP3 Primes is designed so that M mount cameras can use SP3 primes without issue.

Q: 4. Seems I saw close focus distance in this picture for 75mm is 2'6, but offical brochure said that is 38.6 , so which is true?

A: Definitely 2'6 as printed on lens

Q: 5. Is there just no way to use these lenses on an EF mount?

A: That is correct, the NiSi ATHENA PRIME T2.4/1.9 Full-Frame 5-Lens Kit is not made in Canon EF mount at all.

Q: 6. Is the L mount drop-in filter version weather sealed?

A: The NiSi ATHENA PRIME T2.4/1.9 Full-Frame 5-Lens Kit (L Mount, Drop-In Filter) has weather sealing for the drop-in filter.

Q: 7. What size is the rear filter thread?

A: The NiSi ATHENA Prime T2.4/1.9 Full-Frame 5-Lens Kit lenses do not have front filter threads.

Q: 8. Does these lenses fit into the ARRI Alexa XT?

A: Yes, the NiSi ATHENA Prime T2.4/1.9 Full-Frame 5-Lens Kit (PL Mount) would be able to mount onto the standard PL mount of the ARRI ALEXA XT; however we always recommend testing your lenses with your chosen camera for best results.

Q: 9. How are these compared to the Rokinon Xeen?

A: Cine lenses such as the Schneider Xenon and Rokinon Xeen share the attributes that are so needed in prime lens sets for movie production. Principally these are consistent physical size and consistent image quality. Inconsistent size slows down production and inconsistent image quality slows down post-production with a possible affect of the viewing experience. What differentiates the two brands essentially is that the Xeens are good quality while the Xenons are even better. If the budget is limited, go with the Xeens confident that you will get good results. If the budget is more generous, go with the Xenons. What you will get is superb design, build and image quality that you can feel and see. The Xenons will last for years in hard, 18 hour a day movie production.

Q: 10. does it fit in MEIKE PL-L mount adapter?

A: Yes, the NiSi ATHENA Prime T2.4/1.9 Full-Frame 5-Lens Kit (PL Mount) should work with the Meike Lens Adapter for PL-Mount Lens to Leica L-Mount Camera.

[M99 x 0.75] I have all 3 of the available PL mount versions of these lenses. I used on 2 proffesional shoots and WOW WOW WOW - I still cant get over the IQ for the price but with only 1 gripe---lets get out of way-- (no focus marks on AC side) not a big deal using FF on op side typically or remote FF if I have an AC so its not really an issue) If you are looking here you like consider the DZO Vespid line. TRUE they have a full set. However they have a very vintage look with oval bokeh and bad CA(on a few focal lengths) Those are smaller lighter and MARGNIALLY sharper true) however these lens have very little CA very little if any breathing depending on FL- propper full 330 rotation on focus, they are bigger but still small- However dont look SILLY on my RED like the Vespids do. I cant say this enough MEIKE hit a homerun here and I have ZERO regrets. Just wish the whole set was already available (24mm coming end of NOV 21) ---you cant go wrong here.

[M99 x 0.75] I already own a nice 24mm 1.4 so this lens has got some heavy lifting to do to raise my interest. And it has done just that. Now it would be unfair to say it is light years ahead of the Nikon 24mm 1.4G ED lens that I have been using. Truth is.....it just does it ALL very well. Well resolved without being scratchy sharp. Holds the corners well. No CA that I can find and creamy (almost misty) background to help throw that focused subject right in your lap. Honest colors and built like a bloody TANK!!!. So yeah.... a worthy contender at around half the price of the other lenses it beating. You won't be disappointed. Rocks well on my RS3 Pro Gimbal too. Thank you B&H for overnighting it to my shoot and making Christmas happen in August :0)

[75mm] I seriously LOVE what these lenses do as an intro set of Cine glass. As a long time Sigma Art series user I didn't realize how much of an upgrade this was going to be from Photo glass. I'm super happy with the money i spent on this and also the 35mm. I will be getting the 24mm and 85mm ASAP!

[T1.4] I really love this lens. It just stays on the Ursa permanently. Many great directors use the 50mm as a standard (I'm thinking of Ozu), and I've personally always found the 50mm the most versatile focal length. And this lens is superb. I used the Rokinon lenses before this, which I appreciated, but this lens has more character. I really like the long throw, the build quality, and just the creamy look of this lens.

[M99 x 0.75] The Rokinon/Samyang cine lenses in this price range are basically their photo lenses with cine gears. Nice for starters--I have two of them--but these Meikes are bonafide cine lenses and not much more money. Main differences are less focus breathing and longer focus ring throw. Much easier to nail focus pulls.
