The Hoya Star 8X Filter 58mm for Photographyhelps create more drama in your image by turning strong point-light sources into 8-pointed stars. A: We are fairly certain it is a Hoya HMC Circular filter. The Alpha Circular Polarizer costs as much as this set.

A: You need to google your lens and see what millimeter filters it takes. If it takes a 72 mm these will fit. If you have another filter (like a UV filter) on there already, it should indicate how many millimeters it is.

A: This item requires Canon Filter Adapter FA-DC67A, which is compatible with the SX40, SX50 and SX530. If not available from B&H, try Canon U.S.A. Shop (shop.usa.canon dot com). 67mm filters will then thread on the adapter.

A: The SmallRig Filter Tray for Star-Trail and Revo-Arcane Matte Boxes (4 x 4") is not a universal filter tray and it will not work in tray slots for 4 x 5.6 filter trays.

[55 mm] Adds so much to my photos, and the stars look soft and very romantic. Best used with bright lights reflecting off of something, like water! Love love love. Highly recommend!! 5

[0.095 lb] This filter was a pleasure to use. I find that it performs best in sunlight and dusk settings. I intended to use this with a mist filter; however, I found this star filter seems to naturally have a 10% mist effect that softens an image even when there are no light sources to create a star effect. I will say that if used after dark and in a city environment, the effect can be a quite strong and distracting. 5

[55 mm] It worked nicely as expected. Good pictures at normal shutter speeds No need to use long exposure times). Red tint in color. Interesting when shooting B&W. The camera was not modified for IR photography. 5

[55 mm] This was the one product that was not already in stock in the BH shop, but I was willing to take the chance and order it anyway-the product arrived about a week after the rest of my other items came. Looking through the lens with my naked eye onto direct light- I can see immediately the 4 point star effect! Can't wait to use this in my future photo shoots and cinematography projects. 5
