Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Possibly stupid question. Does the circular polarizing filter in this kit rotate? Curious as I'm not sure if they all do that or not.

A: Yes, it does.

Q: 2. These fit 67 mm lenses, but can I get the desired "macro" effect using a 'zoom' lens?

A: Yes, the Hoya 67mm HMC Close-Up Filter Set II (+1, +2, and +4) on a zoom lens with create a macro-like effect.

Q: 3. I bouth this item and the 10-18mm Canon lens and I was using the UV with the polarizer attached to it and when looking through the view I see black borders around the image, is this ok? I removed both filters and took the picture again and the black border was not there.

A: That is called vignette. It means that the filters are too thick to be used with that lens and you will get vignette in your images. Chances are if you set the lens to 18mm you might not have vignette. In general it is not a good idea to stack filters so when you use a polarizer you should take off the UV filter. It will reduce the amount of vignette. But with that wide a lens you still might get vignette.

Q: 4. The current image for this 3-filter kit shows a Hoya HMC Super Circular Polarizing filter and says on the filter, made in Japan. Is this the filter that those of you who purchased recently received? If not, which Hoya CPL did you receive? Thanks!

A: Mine is made in Philippines (all 3)

Q: 5. Would this fit a Fuji 23mm f2 lens?

A: Yes it will!

Q: 6. This filter fit in canon sx 50

A: This item requires Canon Filter Adapter FA-DC67A, which is compatible with the SX40, SX50 and SX530. If not available from B&H, try Canon U.S.A. Shop (shop.usa.canon dot com). 67mm filters will then thread on the adapter.

Q: 7. Do these filters have a thread on the front for using a cap?

A: Yes, they are threaded the cap will work

Q: 8. Are these dual element or single

A: Please explain what dual element is and then I might be able to answer your question

Q: 9. Are these filters glass or plastic?

A: Plastic

Q: 10. When using this polarizing filter on my D7100 with 18-105 or my 70-200 lenses and with a UV filter you rotate it and then can see the affect in the viewfinder from light to near dark. What should it be rotated to ? ie what result is achieved? Also, with the lens hood on it is difficult to rotate the filter but I assume I am to rotate it for the desired affect to be achieved? Or does this camera automatically adjust for the filter?

A: You rotate a circular polarizer to achieve a bluer sky or to cut glare from reflective surfaces. The camera will not automatically adjust for the filter, since this is a totally mechanical action. You should rotate the filter until the effect you are looking for has been achieved.

[Glass] I was looking to get into IR photography, I just love the colors you get in the IR spectrum. Looked at purchasing an IR camera, $500 to $750. Not an amount of money I want to spend on what is an experiment. Saw this filter and it rocks. I get the colors that I am looking for and I can experiment to my hearts content. Is this something I want to pursue, I dont know but I am having fun with it. I highly recommend this filter if you want to experiment with this type of look.

[0.13 lb] I thought it would be interesting to merge the uniqueness of a Lensbaby Velvet 85 with an IR filter. Both IR photography and shooting with the Velvet lens are new for me and I am loving the experience of learning and creating.

[Glass] This one will work with all DSLR digital cameras as an introduction type lens. The higher grade 82, 87, 92, and 93 do not work with all the cameras
