The 58mm Hoya Fog Diffuser 0.5 58mmhas a frosted surface that lightly veils the entire picture in a pleasing dreamlike fog effect. It can be used together to produce an effect similar to dense fog. The effect can be varied by changing the aperture of the lens, but stopping down too far will reduce it.

A: The following is a synthetic translucent light modifier that fits over the Parabolic Umbrella and converts it to a large softbox with just a 1/2 stop loss of output.

[Glass] The filter set allows different combination of fog effect and I use it to augment ghost shadows on special photography at night when bright lights are illuminating the scene. 5

[Aluminum] It worked nicely as expected. Good pictures at normal shutter speeds No need to use long exposure times). Red tint in color. Interesting when shooting B&W. The camera was not modified for IR photography. 5

[Aluminum] Very happy with this filter for use on a Sony DSC-F828 with Night Shot mode activated. Set ISO to 64, capture mode to RAW, stop it down with ND filters as necessary, and shoot using a tripod. The infrared results are very good. 5

[Aluminum] while this is not an everyday filter it in some cases gives very good effects. I like using it in those situations, which can be more often than one may think. It is a very good quality set. I like the two filter set as I can better control the effect ie amount of fog. It is worth the price and would recomend them. 5

[Aluminum] If you want to experiment with infrared photography and don't want to convert an actual camera, this is a great way to go. Just be prepared to carry a tripod and to work your images in post. 5

[Glass] Works great! I did a lot of research on this product prior to ordering. I am shooting infrared images on a Sigma SD-10 digital SLR with the IR cutoff filter removed. I use this to cut the visible light and pass on IR to the sensor. 5

[58 mm] I use it for the eclipse in 2019 and it work perfectly. No visible distortion. And if you use as an 16 ND filter it has a slightly WB change, but no visibly color cast 5

[0.1 lb] Bought this to try out infrared photography and so far have been pleased with the results. It sure costs a lot less than having a camera converted to infrared use only and since it is a screw-on lens it doesn't take up much room in a camera bag. 5
