Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is the weight measurement wrong?? Only around 100grams difference between carbon fibre and aluminum version??

A: The Carbon Fiber version is 2.63 lbs, and the aluminum version is 3.7 lbs, that is a difference of 485 grams.

Q: 2. I just bought this tripod. I am trying to replace the rubber feet with metal spike. I haven't been able to remove rubber feet. Any tips or tricks? It seems like they are glued or something.

A: These feet are removable. They should not be glued or the like. Twist and pull counter-clockwise to get them off.

Q: 3. where are the bubble levels located? in the specs it said there's 3?

A: The Vanguard VEO 3+ 263AB Aluminum Tripod with VEO BH-160 Ball Head has two bubble levels. One is on the top of the tripod above a leg and one is on the head on the top.

Q: 4. Is the ball head removable

A: According to Vanguard, yes, the ball head on the Vanguard VEO 2 235CB Carbon Fiber Tripod is removable. You would simply loosen the two (2) hex set screws under the head, lock down the head's adjustment dials so it does not move, and pop the head counterclockwise. The thread size on the male screw on the top of the center column is the standard ¼”-20 thread size. If you are using a tripod head that has the larger 3/8"-16 tripod thread size, you will need a reducer bushing to connect the tripod head to your tripod, such as the Oben 3/8"-16 to 1/4"-20 Reducer Bushing, B&H # OB1039.

Q: 5. What is center column made from?

A: I can't tell you that. But I used a nikon d600 with a 70-210 zoom and it held up well. I traveled all over India and to Djeerling near the Himalayas....no problem.

Q: 6. For the sake of weight and a more solid base would it be advisable to consider removing the long center column and using just the short replacement column? AND what is the height of the tripod fully extended at that height (without the tall center column)?

A: The Vanguard VEO 2 235CB Carbon Fiber Tripod with Ball Head without the center column extended is 49 inches high. If one does not extend the original center column, it would be just as stable as using just a short center column.

Q: 7. Is 59" the height of the ball head with the center column fully raised?

A: The maximum height of 56.3" would take into account the fully raised center column.

Q: 8. Why no specs?? How can i buy one sans “Ball-Head??”

A: This is a new item and specs are forthcoming. This tripod does not come without ball head.

Q: 9. Can the ball head be replaced with another one or is it fixed to the center column?

A: Yes, the head can be removed.

Q: 10. Does this come with a carry bag of some kind?

A: Yes. This comes with a Padded Tripod bag with Shoulder Strap.

[0.305 lb] Have had this for only a short period of time but really like it; feels solid and not flimsy. Holds camera/lens and extender very well, does not slip. Other functions etc work very well.

[0.305 lb] Extremely compact and lightweight, easily goes with me wherever - as the saying goes the best tool for the job is the one you have with you and I am far more likely to carry this baby over my 8 pound regular tripod. So far I've had no stability issues, and the head seems to hold my kit (6D + ts-e24, 35mm, 24-105) steady where I put it for as long as I need (30+ second exposures), although I haven't encountered strong winds yet. In my home the 100-400 seems stable as well, but since I haven't shot with it in the field yet I don't want to make a definitive comment. The only nit is the lack of bubble level on the legs, but I can't really fault it for that. I was worried about the twist locks, but they work just fine.

[0.305 lb] I actually bought these (I own 2) to pair up with my Kessler Cineslider and they work wonderful. They support the weight easily and the photo ball head makes it very easy to level the slider. I will be using this for photos as well but for my intended purpose they are great.

[0.305 lb] I am very impressed with the quality of the tripod, sturdy and nicely finished. I got it because my specific use in macro photography. It allows me to move the central column closer to objects. It is a bit heavy and comes with a nice bag. It is can be extended very high which was another reason for choosing this model but if you need a travel tripod it might not be the best option.

[0.305 lb] I am new to photography, and my last Walmart tripod broke. I bought this and it has a learning curve for me as it is a ball instead of the pan style head. I like the ball better I think as it keeps your hands closer and there is less movement than I had with my cheap pan style one. But this is 10000% better overall. Great height and movement. Have already used it to take some good Spider-Web, Moon, and Stars pictures. Would defiantly recommend to someone. If you want to go hiking with it I suggest the Carbon Fiber one as I feel the weight when charring it around even though it is not heavy.

[0.305 lb] My need was for a small, light-weight tripod for travel and general photography. Many of the carbon fiber tripods were very expensive, but this one answered all my requirements at a great price. After several shoots I have been very pleased. I use both crop and full sensor cameras with lenses up to 400mm with no problem. All my longer lenses have tripod rings and I usually use mirror lockup. I was surprised how well the 150 Ball head kept things steady in spite of its smaller size. The limitations of the tripod are its total height and the time it takes to set up, but that has not been a problem for me. If you need to change plates often I would recommend the Vanguard plates as they have a comfortable sized "D" ring and do not require an Allen wrench.

[0.305 lb] So much versatility. It's robust and easy to use for the most part. It's not as portable as some other tripods but that's not a big deal for me

[0.305 lb] My primary interests are in landscape and macro photography. This tripod gives me exactly what I need for both of these in a single package. In the few weeks I've had it, it's already proven to be very versatile and easy to use. The balance between stability and weight have worked out well for me. I've found the multi-angle center column to be extremely versatile and flexible.

[0.305 lb] My most versatile tripod to date. Probably won't go hiking deep into the woods to photograph a waterfall with it, but roadside landscape/waterfall/long exposure or macro shots is what I got it for. I am very please so far! The carrying bag it comes with is expcetional as well!
