The Tiffen Pearlescent 1/4 Filter 6.6" x 6.6"can be applied to purposely soften contrast and reduce sharpness. This can be useful for high-resolution digital cinematography in order to create a more flattering result of a subject by reducing the appearance of blemishes and softening highlights. Additionally, a pearlescent halo around highlights is created which can further enhance a subject's appearance or produce a desired effect.

This filter has a grade of 1/4. Grades of 1/8, 1/2, 1, and 2 are also available where this filter type's effect becomes approximately twice as strong with each grade number increase.

This filter is made using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass and grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch.

Q: 1. I just bought a BenQ SW270C and the included USB C cable is a bit too short for my needs. Will this cable work for connecting my monitor to my computer i.e. display video?

A: Yes, this cable would work.

Q: 2. What speed is supported if this cable is plugged into a regular USB Type C port (vs being plugged into a Thurnderbolt 3 port)? A similar product states there transfer rate is USB-2.0 speed.

A: It will operate at the slower speed of the cable and the port. In this case it would have the maximum theoretical speed of the USB-C port.

Q: 3. Is the frame strong enough to resist a wind or it folds easily?

A: Yes, the frame can withstand moderate wind but is difficult to hold in the wind for 1 person. Folding it is fairly easy similar to other reflectors.

[8.14 x 8 x 1"] Any time I decide on diffusion filters, the biggest considerations for me are the strength of halation and the amount of contrast I'm looking for. I usually default to Hollywood Black Magic as my standard diffusion filter. When I want something stronger and a big more vintage feeling I'll reach for Black Pro Mist. When I want something much more subtle, I'll go for Glimmerglass because the halation is under much better control than the other two. I usually aim for a 1 strength when I want to see the effect. Even then, it doesn't feel too strong.

[8.14 x 8 x 1"] Lots of reviews suggest the 1/8 for a more 'filmic look but I found that I needed the 1/4 strength to get that effect.

Note that focal length and the quality of the light itself will impact the outcome.

A note regarding the GG1: This provides a very noticeable effect in most cases. Maybe a tad too much for everyday use.

Tiffen needs a magical filter that works on the jpeg but leaves the raw alone !

[8.14 x 8 x 1"] works great for weddings and any place that has artificial lights.

[8.14 x 8 x 1"] This filter is going to be on every portrait shot I take from now on. The 1/8 strength is subtle enough to clean blemishes of a 4K or 8MP+ image while not making the image look soft. There are however some conditions where it's not ideal. I filmed a window on a sunny day from a dark room, and the halo effect spilling into the room was too strong and unnatural looking even though this filter's strength is only 1/8. If done under the right conditions, it could give a nice stylized look.

[8.14 x 8 x 1"] Great diffusion filter that adds soft contrast to take off the digital edge while retaining sharpness. Would highly recommend over other diffusion filters.

[8.14 x 8 x 1"] Adds a subtle glow and sheen to the image, really helps breath some organic life into even the most sterile digital cameras.

[0.85 lb] I was worried that a 1 strength would be really glow-y the way a promist would, but you only really see an obvious glow in very strong back-lit or high contrast conditions. Otherwise it's a very a very gentle touch on highlights and overall contrast.

Also the idea that a sparkly filter inspires confidence in a model is the silliest selling point I've ever heard, and my models laughed at the idea of it ... which got me some genuine smiles, so I guess there's that.

[8.14 x 8 x 1"] So I have used the GlimmerGlass series a lot as a large matte-box filter on the cinema cameras. But sometimes I go and shoot inserts on a lighter setup with my FX6 and a Zoom lens. For that purpose this filter is absolutely perfect. If the 1/2, 3/4 and 1/4 become available as 82mm filters I will purchase them.
