Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is this compatible with fl studio and can control kontakt?

A: Hi as others have said about FL studios yes. I have used it with other software and it seems to work with them. Id get it. It is made well. The pads have a great feel to them. The keys have a good feel also. I have found that not all controls seem to function with it but that could be they either have to be assigned to a function or I have not gotten that far. For the money. Go for it.

Q: 2. What sustian pedals does it support?

A: The Akai MPK mini MKII can be used with most sustain pedals that have a standard 1/4" TS connector such as the On-Stage KSP100 (B&H # ONKSP100), Auray - FP-S1L (B&H# AUFPS1L), Auray FP-P1L (B&H# AUFPP1L), or M-Audio - SP-1 (B&H# MASP1). If you click on the tab for "Accessories" on the item page, you'll see a list of options on the left side of the page. Click on the link for "Pedals" and you can view a selection of compatible sustain pedals and other for punch in/punch out that can be used with the MPK mini MKII.

Q: 3. do i need an external tone generator for this keyboard to make a sound?

A: The StudioLogic SL88 is a MIDI controller with no built in sounds. An external sound modue or audio program will be needed.

Q: 4. What is the software compatible with this controller?

A: This controller can work with any professional DAW, including Ableton, Studio One, Pro Tools, Logic, etc.

Q: 5. Does it include a license for Kontakt?

A: No, the Native Instruments Komplete Kontrol M32 does not include a license for NI Kontakt.

Q: 6. I'm looking at this to use with my Cakewalk-by-Bandlab DAW. I assume it works fine as a MIDI keyboard(?), but can its "control" functions control aspects of Cakewalk beyond just playing notes?

A: if cakewalk allows you to midi map, you can assign the buttons on Kontrol m32 to tweak settings on cakewalk like effects and also mix as well.

Q: 7. What is the downloadable software that comes with this MIDI controller?

A: The downloadable software bundle includes the Complete Music Production Starter Kit with MPC Beats, six virtual instruments (Bassline, Tubesynth, Electric, Hybrid 3, Mini Grand, Velvet) and useful sounds such as kick drums, snares, 808s, melodic loops, and keygroup instruments for creating melodic lines.

Q: 8. Does anyone know what the width of a single white key is?

A: Each key is approximately one inch wide.

Q: 9. can you transpose with the a49?

A: Yes you can. Turn on the scale/edit button, set the Scale Type to Chromatic and the Key Mode to "Easy." Then just shift the Root Note to whatever you want.

Q: 10. does this only work with specific DAW?

A: The MPK mini MKII will work with any DAW. I've personally used it with Ableton Live, Logic, Bitwig, and Pro Tools.

[1x USB-B ] A huge step up from the semi-weighted and spring-action keyboards I'm used to. Built solid, with a metal top and some sort of heavy-density material on the bottom, very rigid and hefty. Plastic but not hollow-feeling keys. The action is definitely on the heavy side which I like. The keys don't make a clicky racket like the Keystation 88. Wheels and buttons are good quality, slider is just OK. Mine came with a slight dent in the metal top, apparently a manufacturing defect because the packaging was undamaged and there's no sign of impact. Not a deal breaker in my case and virtually invisible. Firmware update is available and installed easily. Preset editor utility is handy and intuitive. As I knew going in, no pedals or AC adapter are included. Didn't try the software because I have my own. Heavy, 38lbs., and given its weight and lack of onboard sounds, it wouldn't be my first choice for a gigging keyboard. It's more like a digital piano, and if I could make a suggestion to M-Audio, I would like a dedicated digital piano-style stand with integrated pedal option.

[USB Bus Power] The Hammer 88 is a no frills MIDI controller with a nice weighted action. Construction seems solid. A pretty good buy for the price.

[7.74 lb] I've been playing piano for over 50 years now. And all types of keyboards over the last half century as they've evolved (Farfisa Compact, Hammond B3, Ensoniq, Fatar, Korg, etc.) But, I've always loved the piano the most. I owned a beautiful 6' Yamaha Grand for 25 years but had to get rid of it 10 years ago due to our downsizing to a smaller place; it took up a LOT of room. Since then, I've bought and subsequently donated a dozen or so other keyboards, which sounded good, but didn't have that true piano feel. Any pianist can close their eyes and tell you if it's a real piano, just by that feel. But, not with this baby! With the right software (True Pianos, Kontakt, Ominsphere, etc.) you can sound as good as ANY piano on this planet, AND you can do it with headphones if you want! But, the feel, the expression, is pure piano! Why is it perfect?; Price, Quality, Weight (it's very heavy!), Appearance (it's beautiful!), Simplicity (it's just a keyboard with no screen, and no internal sounds; my PC monitor and keyboard is in front of it), and most importantly - FEEL. It IS a real piano. Just close your eyes and play....... It's perfect in every way. The last keyboard I will ever need and own!!!

[USB Bus Power] The M-Audio Keystation 49 MK3 is an excellent choice for beginners or casual users looking for a simple, portable, and affordable MIDI controller. While it lacks some of the bells and whistles of more advanced controllers, it provides a solid foundation for virtual instrument control, DAW navigation, and music production. The included software bundle adds great value, making it a well-rounded package for those just starting in the world of MIDI and digital music.

[7.74 lb] Bought this for my daughter, who has played for 5-6 years, and been doing composition for a couple of years. Great keyboard for her. She likes how the keyboard feels. She got started using the keyboard right away, and enjoyed it a lot.

[7.74 lb] I bought this to control IK Multimedia’s B3X for iPad. Works great. Plenty of sliders, rotary pots, and buttons. 4 zones, easy learning curve for basics. Could use some better documentation and another octave of playing keys.

[7.74 lb] I am throughly please with this keyboard midi controller. The action is so much like a regular piano. The build is a good quality, and while it doesn’t have a lot of bells and whistles (which can sometimes get in the way), it performs flawlessly. This keyboard is worth twice the price. If you’re thinking of buying it, do it.

[USB Bus Power] I owned a MKI Alesis V61 for a number of years and had tons of trouble dialing in the velocity curves and other technical parameters through the old software. After deciding to downscale to the MKII V25, along with the new Alesis software, I was plugged in and writing music in less than 10 minutes. The keyboard plays well with great velocity response. My only complaint is the mod and pitch wheel are a bit sensitive on Serum specifically, but it's nothing a bit of automation editing can't fix.
