A: Generally, an output may be split to two speakers with a simple "Y" type cable. Isuues arise when the impedance is too low; for instance, id the two speakers are 4 ohm and split from one output, the impedance then becomes 2 ohms; an impedance this low is almost always an issue for an amplifier. Also by changing the impedance which an amplifer is "seeing" will affect the loudness, so be aware and proceed with caution. Two 8 ohm speakers connected to one output of an amp is almost always ok, using a quality Y splitter and quality cables. Again, it WILL get louder!!

Q: 4. are there two sets per box to connect two speakers or do you have to order "2"?

A: This is single cable with banana connectors on both ends. The cable is constructed with two sections -- the red side is for connecting the hot signal and the black side is for connecting to ground. This cable will connect to one speaker. You will need a second cable to connect your second speaker. This item (B&H # CA4S112B2B12) is one Canare 4S11 cable.

[45.0 pF/ft] Even though I have experimented with stereo systems for almost 50 years, I had never bi-wired speakers until I recently purchased Bowers & Wilkins 603 floor-standing speakers. I was intrigued by their bi-wiring option that Crutchfield suggested could provide noticeable improvements in the overall transparency of your loudspeakers if I ran separate speaker wires to the low and high frequency drivers from a single amplifier. After doing some research, I discovered the Canare 4S11 bi-wire speaker cable at B&H. I don't claim to have golden ears, but I do want better sound at a reasonable price, so the Canare cables were interesting. However, I have to admit that to my eyes they looked sort of flimsy in the online picture, so I debated with myself about spending over $130 for two sets of 10-foot cables. Therefore, I was thrilled to discover that the two runs I ordered are not only substantial in diameter, they are professionally terminated with high quality banana cables that give me a tight fit into my vintage Audible Illusions S120 amplifier and my new B&Ws. While I can't tell you that the heavens opened and angelic choirs sang when I plugged them in, the speakers sound wonderful and I am now looking at upstream improvements in my system, including the RME ADA-2 DAC FS. My conclusion is that it only makes sense to bi-wire speakers if the speaker designer provides the option. So for me this was a great purchase. If you have speakers that offer the bi-wiring option, I highly recommending giving these a look. 5
