Providing high-quality wraparound illumination, the Litepanels Studio X5 Bi-Color LED Fresnel Lightfrom Litepanels Studio X5 Bi-Color LED Fresnel Lightfeatures a 10" Fresnel lens with an adjustable beam angle of 16 to 70° that can be further controlled by the included 4-leaf barndoors. Similar in output to a 1000W tungsten Fresnel, this light provides a variable color temperature of 2700 to 6500K and allows 0 to 100% continuous dimming for perfect skin tone rendering. A built-in keypad controller and backlit LCD display enable quick and efficient local control, and the Studio X5 also provides a 5-pin XLR connection for DMX and RDM protocols and operation. Q: 6. What v mount battery is best to use for this light.

A: I use the Core SWX 150 batteries... I get anywhere from 6 to 2.5 hours of continuous use with them from 50-100%. Ive used the 98 batteries but they just dont last as much.

Q: 7. What is the comparable output at full power as compared with ARRI fresnels (ie, 1K open faced, 650w, 300w, etc)?

A: The Astra 6x makes about 18,000LUX at one meter. Its supposed to be loosely equivalent to a 1k tungsten.

Q: 8. I own 4 of these and have a shoot coming up where the only power source will be my car. How can I power the Astra from the 12V cigarette lighter?

A: This light is approximately 100w. You will need to check your cars 12v port power rating. Most likely you will need a inverter connected directly to your cars battery. Make sure to check your cars batteries watt hour rating. You will want to make sure not to push it so low as to get stranded. Using a inverter that is at least double the power that you need will give you the best efficiency. For 4x Astras you would want to look at a 1k range inverter.

Q: 9. What is the power draw for the 4000 series? Also what is the tungsten power equivalent?

A: Although Dracast does not offer a tungsten output equivalent, the power draw is listed as 400 watts.

Q: 10. Does this come with Light Stand?

A: Light stand is not included.

[50,000 Hours] Well I left a review back in 2017 after I bought it. Im still quite happy with the Fixture. I recently tested the CRI using my Sekonic C-700, the results hovered around 94.0 to 95.0 depending on temperature. I would say Litepanels general claim of a High CRI rings true but the output is no where near a 575w HMI. There are cheaper lights on the market now like the Aputure Storm 300d II that do output the equivalent of the 575w HMI, however I have not tested the CRI as of yet. 5

[Fresnel] I just sold my Joker 800 HMI and bought the Fresnel 2000. It is a fantastic broad source light with its large 7 fresnel lens that packs a big punch. The bi-color accuracy and adjustment is the icing on the cake. 5

[2700 to 6500K] I have a many LED's that I use every week. Roto's and others. This light gives my the punch I need for my sets, interviews, etc. The throw is still not what an incandescent will give you but for an LED it is very good and better than most. IT's bright, fully adjustable and heavy duty. 5

[2700 to 6500K] I cannot believe that a light of this quality is so cheap! Field tested today and it is extraordinary. Very well built. On par with a 575 HMI in daylight mode. Beautiful dimmable key in tungsten. Highly recommended . 5

And this is that what i desired! The color accuracy, color temperature is exceptional than other light. No weird color tints and the temp is always accurate and does not dip! [2700 to 6500K] After owning AND using these lights since 2019, I am finally providing my review. When I purchased and built my 3-light kit, there were several reviews that stated issues with the LEDs going dark or lights not working properly. I haven’t had any of these issues with any of my lights; all LEDs are lighting properly. I have used these lights for many different projects including documentary, news and indie films. Pros: Work great outdoors with daylight and sunlight; on-board battery will keep it going for 1 hour 15 minutes (when fully charged and light set at maximum power). Cons: not exactly compact; accessories such as soft boxes and egg crates are expensive and not fast to set up. Overall I do recommend this light if you are needing something to work with natural daylight and want something that will last for years to come. 5

[50,000 Hours] I bought this Sola 4+ fresnel for use as a back light in a typical 3 point lighting scenario. It fits the bill quite well I think. I considered the ARRI L5 for this because it is bi-color, but my budget didn't quite allow for it, so the Sola 4+ was the next best option. The Sola 4+ is light enough to place on a boom without excessive counterweights and allows for easy rigging. The fixture is mostly plastic which gives it a bit of a cheap feel however. The barn doors have plastic hinges but the doors are aluminum. Considering the plastic makes it light weight, which is a huge bonus if you are travelling with this fixture, I think it is a reasonable trade off. The focus range allows fine tuning and quite a narrow spot. Fan is quite enough that most audio situations would not pick it up. The fixture has a small form factor but it packs a pretty good punch for its size. Because it is only daylight balanced, I purchased the 5 piece CTO pack which includes a opal frost diffusion. Not sure I will use the DMX function but it's nice to know it's there incase I do. Overall, I think this light is a pretty good value but it needs to be handled and packed carefully to avoid possible damage. I gave the Sola 4+ five stars because it met my expectations based on the advertising and published specs. Now Litepanels needs to make a bi-color version of this fresnel to truly perfect it! 5
