Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this lens has the usual fisheye heavy barrel distortion or is it rectilineal like the Voigtlnder 12mm?

A: Well, it's an extremely wide angle lens, so yes, it does distort the image and no, it's not rectilinear. That said, the projection is not a pure fisheye ... it's more of a stereographic graphic projection meaning that it has less of a pronounced central bulge to the image and things look a bit more natural. For a pretty good discussion of the lens and the projection, check out the review from a site called admiring light . I'm not the author of the review and have no relationship with the site, but found it while researching the lens for myself. There's are reviews of the both the old and new version of the lens. I found it very useful when I was considering my own purchase ... and BTW ... I love the lens. :) Definitely a special use item, but a lot of fun to shoot with. And very well built.

Q: 2. Does steady shot work on the Pxw fs5 with this lens?

A: We're afraid not. This lens does not have Image Stabilization.

Q: 3. Is it compatible with the Canon EOS M6 Mark ii camera?

A: Yes, this lens is compatible with the M6 Mark II.

Q: 4. Can you get filters for this lens?

A: Yes you can. The product is by Tadashi Filters. They sell protectors and also ND filters for fisheye. They easily fit the rokinon 8mm. I use them very often.

Q: 5. Work with Canon 60D?

A: The Samyang 8mm f/2.8 Fisheye II Lens for Canon EF-M Mount is not compatible with the 60D. You would need a lens with a Canon EF mount.

Q: 6. Is lens hood removable?

A: No but it can be machined off then it's called a shaved lens.

Q: 7. Is this lens exactly the same as the Rokinon equivalent ?

A: Yes they are exactly the same just rebadged from the same assembly line.

Q: 8. I assume this is a 180-degree on-the-diagonal fisheye that covers the entire APS-C rectangle? I guess it must be with the built-in petal-type lens hood.

A: Yes, the Samyang 8mm f/2.8 covers the entire sensor and provides a 12mm focal length and full 180 degree angle of view.

Q: 9. Is this compatible with Sony Nex-5n?

A: Yes, its compatible with the Sony Nex-5n, manual only.

Q: 10. How do you put a filter if the lens is a bulbous type? Is it screwed in on the petal hood?

A: The hood in the Meike 8mm lens has 77mm filter threads.

[3.32 lb] Really impressed by AXIS and this new camera dedicated to LPR. It captures plates at high speeds and compared to other AXIS cameras this one requires no image configurations. This camera is built for LPR, day or night and for very high speed. For me, moving to this camera has improved my night time capture from 10% to 95%. Using this in conjunction with OpenALPR provides a cheap LPR solution that works excellent for us.

[12.9 ] I have used various versions of the M20 for several years. They are nice little cameras. They are easy to install. The are reliable. If you want a cost effective, rock solid camera with a 130 field of view, this is a good choice..

[Yes Mechanical] Very clear image and decently wide view when used indoors. No issues setting up with Wisenet Wave.

[2.8 to 8mm] I bought two of these to replace some aging dome cameras I have outside my home. I must say the picture is excellent. At night I have driveway lights that come on automatically so the camera never uses its night vision, but the picture is phenomenal with WDR compared to the old cameras they replaced. Very happy.

[NAS] Purchased three cameras two were priced at a discount as used and had never been hooked up. one of the used was missing a base and that was expected.

The 2035 was a huge upgrade over the 2025 and had object detection the night vision is as clear as the daytime.

[Yes Mechanical] Installed on campus road with traffic reaching 35mph, offset approximately 40ft and skewed and still grabs every plate that passes by without fail. Rain or shine, day or night this setup does not disappoint.

[2.8 to 8mm] This unit does need quite a bit of POE power to light up the IR light.
I'm an experienced fan of AXIS cams. I have 31 deployed

[1x RJ45 ] This camera is powerful and does everything I need. It is only using 4% of its zoom capabilities from 100 feet away, and sees everything day or night. It is a case of you get what you pay for and this has been worth every penny.
