The A127 features a reference-grade capsule with a precision-tensioned metal film diaphragm, providing consistent and reliable performance, even in the most demanding environments. The half-inch size of the diaphragm represents the "sweet spot" for acoustic sound capture, which is why it has become the standard for acoustic measurement. The ultrathin, 3-micron metal film diaphragm provides excellent transient response and a level of detail and realism simply not attainable with conventional diaphragm materials.

The A127 internal electronics were designed and manufactured in Wilsonville, Oregon to exacting standards for maximum reliability. The microphone takes advantage of active driven shields, with gold plating, for protection against external interference and capacitive coupling. The reference-grade capsule is highly sensitive and provides consistent, accurate, low-noise performance. The precision machined housing is built from Teflon and brass components that are meticulously combined for elegance and durability.

For musical applications such as symphony orchestra, strings, brass, choir, pipe organ, percussion and other acoustic instruments, the phase response, accuracy and clarity of the A127 make it the perfect choice for spot miking, as well as mid-field and far-field applications. Metal film omnidirectional microphones are able to capture the complete character, tonality, and essence of an instrument in the most uniform and accurate fashion.

With its omnidirectional polar pattern, the A127 excels as a room mic and can be incorporated into a variety of stereo miking techniques. Professional recording engineers often use a stereo pair of omnidirectional microphones for recording orchestra, stringed instruments and string ensembles, piano and piano ensembles, classical guitar, pipe organ and choir. Depending on the size and acoustics of the room, omnidirectional microphones will most accurately recreate the experience of being in the audience.

Given its compact size, low-noise preamp and extraordinary stability, the A127 is ideal for field recording, documentaries, sound gathering, and acoustic measurements.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Atbthe bottom of the mic can i just comnect that to a tascam and start recording. Cause my friend has this huge mic with the soft sound thing around and did that. So do i need anything like the phantom power to operate this?

A: Not good, don't buy it

Q: 2. I hear a very loud, persistent, high-pitched ring when I record with my laptop. Is there a way to fix that? Also, my table stand does not fit the shock mount :/

A: As for the the shock mount, please double check that any smaller thread adapter inside the thread area of mount has been removed. This often can be achieved with a penny or nickel. Regarding the high pitched ring, there could be many reasons for noise issues, I do recommend calling in to our team of specialists for assistance.

Q: 3. does this mic have usb?

A: This is an XLR microphone - there is no USB output. The Senal UB-440 Professional USB Microphone B&H # SEUB440 might be a similar comparable USB model.

Q: 4. Is it Mac & Garageband compatible? I assume so but just checking.

A: The Senal SC550X Cardioid Condenser Mic with USB Dual Audio Interface & Cable Kit is compatible with Mac OS X and garageband.

Q: 5. Does the RTA mic come with a case?

A: Yes

Q: 6. I have a small production coming up where I have to record someone singing. Is than an appropriate mic for singing vocals? The talent will be listening to the music via headphones so this mic will only capture her voice.

A: For a recording application like the one you are describing, the Senal SC-550X would be a great model to consider for this application.

Q: 7. where do i connect the xlr cord?

A: The Senal SC-550X will require a pre amplifier and phantom power in order to operate. This can be done with a mixer or other device such as a computer interface, and will depend on your particular application.

Q: 8. Where do I find my serial number to make my account on sound forge. All it gave me was a piece of paper that let me download it.

A: I apologize, but this type of request cannot be taken care of through this feature of our website. Please contact our Customer Service department by entering Live Chat, emailing directly to cs@a href= http://bhphoto.com, target= _blank bhphoto.com,/a or calling us toll-free at 800.221.5743.

Q: 9. Can i use this for recording in real time? Is it a microphone?, and will it come up as a microphone on my computer?

A: This is a complete Voice Over kit with a microphone and everything else you need to do professional sounding VO production. The kit includes the software you will need to record and edit your tracks as well as Speech and Voice Processor Plug-Ins. If you are speaking into a microphone and recording with the software that comes with this kit, everything is in real time.

Q: 10. How does this mic sound compared to an akg p220. what type of sound does it deliver.? I cant find any videos or sound test on this microphone.

A: I would suggest you go with the AKG. AKG has been making some of the best mics in the business for decades. Better to go with something that has a proven track record.

[Mono] After doing a lot of research and really fretting over what the right solution would be for miking (mic'ing?) our small choir, I was convinced to give these mics a try after reading a couple of positive blogs and reviews. Was not disappointed - definitely a good solution when it comes to miking a choir.

[Phantom Power] I saw many reviews on YouTube and ended up with this. I'm pleased. I now use it for many indoor interview shoots. Indoors they're definitely better than lav or shotgun. The mic is so tiny I can easier carry it around. Quality wise, of course it can be better but at this price I'm not complaining.

[Phantom Power] Coming from using a Rode NTG2 as a dialog mic for short films, the Audix SCX1/HC is an amazing upgrade. Compared to the NTG2, it's night and day. This mic captures clear, almost noise-free dialog. Really all I can say is Wow! It is the real deal for professional quality voice recording. I can't imagine that I'd ever need to replace this with anything else. This is the first piece of video or audio hardware that's ever truly exceeded my high expectations!

[Phantom Power] Compared this C7 to the Shure Beta 87. Specs show it has more output, slightly flatter response, tighter supercardiod pattern, quieter noise floor and higher max SPL for the same retail price. I'm not disappointed. This is a great sounding mic. To check the pickup pattern I spoke into it and rotated it through 180 degrees from front to back and watch the meters on the mixer. For voice, it starts dropping at about 45 degrees from front and center and by the time I got to 90 degrees I was down by more than 30 db. From behind it was down another 5db again, but it was an unscientific test so probably was picking up room reflections. Using it at graduation to pick up audio for video it did a really good job of rejecting the room speakers and noise...it almost behaved like a shotgun mic. In my opinion, it's a better mic than the Beta 87 and has excellent sound quality and feedback rejection characteristics. It's an attractive mic, too. I plan to buy more.

[Phantom Power] We are using these condenser microphones for a 20 member church choir. The product literature was very helpful for us in assembly and future modifation of our sound system. The sound technician and I also liked the on-line tutorials that Audix posted.

[Mono] After looking for a good dialogue mic on a budget I settled for the SCX-1. The mic delivers clear and rich dialogue and is especially good at picking up whispers and those quieter sounds that are essential to tight shots. The small profile of the mic makes it easy to squeeze into tight interior spaces which I've found especially handy. On top of all this it looks sleek and comes in a nice wooden carry case. Great value for money and wouldn't hesitate to use it on a full feature film.

[Mono] This is a GREAT little Mic. For years I've used Schoeps CMC641 mics for both interior and exterior voice recording for commercial film and video work. Voices are bright and accurate with very excellent noise rejection from the Audix. It acts very much like the Schoeps re: sensitivity and placement, but seems less prone to handling noise. Also, my Schoeps would fail with the slightest hint of humiditywhile the Audix keeps on going. I honestly can recommend this mic as an incredible value when you consider how good it sounds. By the way, the two mics cut together nicely if you're interested.
