The Onyx Digital Color LED RGBWA Soft Light V2from Onyx Digital Color LED RGBWA Soft Light V2is designed to be 20% brighter than the original Onyx 1 x 2. Designed for color creation, it offers multiple modes of operation. It has 33 digital gels and eight special effects to choose from, such as a candle flame or an emergency vehicle siren.

RGBWA mode allows you to adjust red, green, and blue LEDs independently, so you can dial in desired colors from the color spectrum. CCT mode features a wide color temperature range from 2800 to 10,000K with a CRI/TLCI rating of 95. In this mode, amber and white LEDs allow for a more accurate color temperature when reproducing daylight or tungsten lighting. Magenta/green hue can be adjusted to match light sources such as the green tint of office fluorescents or the magenta tint of older LEDs. Saturation can be adjusted to soften selected colors with white light.

A built-in 1/2-stop diffuser allows the light output to gently wrap around your subject. The light has an aluminum housing and comes with an eggcrate grid, a yoke, and a power supply.

A: I contacted ikan concerning your inquiry. They state if the batteries are fully charged, you can use one V-mount battery, but do note it will not last too long. They recommend to use two (2) V-mount batteries at the same time.

Q: 5. expected battery life with high capacity L series battery?

A: With NPF-975 or similar batteries you should get about two hours.

Q: 6. Hi. Im currently using Rifa lights or beat up Fluorescents, but I need something quicker and with temp control; would an Onyx Half by 1 and 1x1, be sufficient for a typical indoor interview in an office or home? I have other lights to embellish (hair, background) and would like to add a 2x1 in the near future, but for now, I wanted to know if the Onyx lights would do the trick. Thanks so much.

A: I have two of these and they are great! I wouldn't rely on one as a key light though. I would go for the Onyx 1x1 or something similar. One half x 1 can work as a key if you're not battleing any ambient light or windows. I have used two halfx1's through a silk as a key, but one is just not enough.

Q: 7. Each light in this kit came with a long cord that does not seem to fit anything... It is just a strait power cord (no voltage transformer) and does not fit the lights, the battery charger, or anything else it came with... What is it for?

A: The ikan Onyx Half x 1 Bi-Color LED Light comes with a power adapter (which connects to the DC power socket located to the right of the LCD screen on the back of the fixture), and a AC power cable, which connects to the power adapter. The power cable and power adapter are two separate pieces, but are used together to power the light fixture.

[Proprietary] I purchased two of these lights and they are fantastic. Very portable, plenty bright, and they have great battery life. Can't beat this light at this price point. An added bonus is the power adapters have very long cables. All in all, I am very pleased with these lights. 5

[Proprietary] These are a huge improvement over our Ikan iLed 312s. They are great, but in smaller settings where you aren't fighting light. The Onyx kit is great, plenty of light for interviews, and they can work outside! They're no HMI, but they throw more light than other LED lights we've used. Battery life is pretty good with the supplied batteries - about 50% down with about 75 minutes of full power on time. The Presto soft boxes are nice touch and soften the light well. They're harder to fold up than your bounce panel, but it all fits nicely in the bag. The only drawback is that this is no 'light' kit. Pretty heavy bag, even with the stands in the smaller bag... but it pays off with the quality of the lights. There is no lack of sturdiness in the lights or the stands. 5

[150 W ] I was approached about using these lights from a producer on a recent feature film. I was pleasantly surprised with how well the lights performed. They were easy to use and allowed for quick changes on a shorten production schedule. The quality of light was so good that the leading lady had remarked several times on how well she looked on camera. It’s important to me that equipment you are using is not only meeting your expectations, but also exceeding them. The versatility of the Onyx OYB10 allowed us to move very quickly from one lighting style to another. Having AC/DC options allowed us to move from practical locations in a house and restaurant out to the desert where power was limited to V-mount batteries as the main power source. I recommend these lights on any project where you need a high-quality light source without having to break the bank. This was my first experience with them and it won’t be my last. 5

[Proprietary] All in all this light is a solid value. It gives you the option to put out a lot of hard light or add your choice of diffusion levels with your own materials. Bi color makes it flexible and the Sony type batteries make powering it affordable. Two of the larger bats will run it about a half a day if you turn it off when not needed. 5
