Pairing an exceptionally wide angle of view with the ability to correct for perspective distortion, the Laowa 20mm f/4 Zero-D Shift Lens for FUJIFILM GFXfrom Laowa 20mm f/4 Zero-D Shift Lens for FUJIFILM GFXis an ideal lens for architectural and interior photography. Offered here in a FUJIFILM G-mount, the lens's broad 94° angle of view is complemented by an impressive +/- 11mm shift range to compensate for unwanted converging lines and keystone distortion. Additionally, as part of the Zero-D lens series, this lens also renders scenes with a high degree of accuracy and very low distortion.

In terms of optics, two aspherical elements and three extra-low dispersion elements are featured, which reduce both spherical and chromatic aberrations for high sharpness and clarity. A water-repellent "frog eye" coating also protects the front lens element from water droplets and moisture. The lens uses a manual focus design for working with subjects as close as 9.8" away and has a fourteen-blade diaphragm for producing smooth and circular bokeh as well as specular highlights when stopped-down and photographing point light sources.

Ultra-wide 20mm prime is designed for use with FUJIFILM G-mount medium format mirrorless cameras where it provides a 16mm equivalent focal length.

As part of the Zero-D series, this lens has an optical design that renders subjects with minimal distortion in order to suit architectural, interior, and landscape applications.

Integrated +/- 11mm of shift adjustment helps to correct perspective distortion and eliminate keystone distortion.

Large image circle easily covers full-frame sensors without any vignetting. Additionally, this lens can also be adapted to select medium format mirrorless cameras, where up to +/- 8mm of shift is available.

Two aspherical elements limit spherical aberrations and distortion for improved sharpness and accurate rendering.

Three extra-low dispersion elements reduce chromatic aberrations and color fringing for increased clarity and color neutrality.

Manual focusing design and a minimum focusing distance of 9.8" suits working with close-up subjects.

Fourteen-blade diaphragm creates smooth and circular bokeh as well as specular highlights when stopped-down and photographing point light sources.

360° rotatable lens hood prevents unwanted lens flare and washed-out images and allows you to adjust the angle of the lens hood to avoid blocking the image during extreme shifts in composition.

Water-resistant "frog eye" coating protects front lens element from water droplets and moisture.

Compatible with optional Shift Lens Support for more balanced mounting and to better enable using the lens for shift-type stitched panorama shooting without parallax error.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will it work with the auto exposure features on my Nikon? (Aperture and Shutter speed priority etc.)

A: There is no auto exposure capability when using the Venus Optics Laowa 20mm f/4 Zero-D Shift Lens for Nikon F.

Q: 2. Is there vignetting with the Fuji GFX S100 medium format camera?

A: There have been no reports of vignetting when using this Venus Optics Laowa 20mm f/4 Zero-D Shift Lens for FUJIFILM GFX on the Fujifilm GFX100S camera.

Q: 3. Where would we find MFT Charts (ideally at various apertures bc I heard it's quite soft wide open; much better 2 stops down?)

A: The MFT chart for the Venus Optics Laowa 15mm f/4.5R Zero-D Shift Lens for FUJIFILM GFX can be found on the Venus Optics website. Please take a look at the following link: https://bhpho.to/3RcFLQh

Q: 4. How would using an optical shift lens (like this one) compare to using perspective crop in photoshop with a wider lens like the Laowa 11mm? I'm asking because they're about the same price but the 11mm could be more versatile and I don't trust myself to perfectly frame photos in the field.

A: Though the 11mm would be a wider view, the distortion would be an issue and harder to work with in post. I would recommend the 15mm Zero-D especially if you are doing interiors due to the fact that if you need a wider view, you can stitch two images and it would still be easier than using the 11mm and trying to correct properly.

Q: 5. what would it take to put it on a sony 77a ?

A: Hi--you would need a lens adapter for Fuji G-mount lens to Sony A-mount camera, but we don't have such an adapter.

Q: 6. Anyway to adapt this for a Pentax 645z?

A: You do have a similar lens in the Pentax mount (VE1228PK ) but unfortunately there is no adapter for Fuji G mount lenses onto Pentax K mount due to very different flange distances.

Q: 7. Is this lens compatible with the Canon teleconverter?

A: No, this is not compatible with a teleconverter. Typically by design, teleconverters only fit on super-telephoto lenses and not wide-angle/ultra-wide lenses.

Q: 8. Can this lens be used with adaptor for canon R mount or Leica Sl2 mount ?

A: Yes the Venus Optics Laowa 15mm f/4.5 Zero-D Shift Lens for Canon EF can be adapted to a Canon RF mount camera or Leica L mount camera.

Q: 9. I am very curious about the final bullet in the lens overview: "Compatible with optional Shift Lens Support for more balanced mounting and to better enable using the lens for shift-type stitched panorama shooting without parallax error." Is there an additional shift option?

A: The shift lens support (https://bhpho.to/36d359d) doesn't offer any additional shifting of the lens plane, but allows mounting via the lens, allowing for an easier time with parallax correction during multi-stitch panoramas.

Q: 10. Does an adapter for this lens to Hasselblad X1D camera exist?

A: No, there does not seem to be a lens adapter that allows a Fuji G mount lens to fit onto to a Hasselblad X mount camera.

[82 mm (Front)] Manual focus but easy to use. Worked well for me in Yosemite after the recent storm

[Manual Focus] At the end of the day, I'd have been happy with a junk feel if it produced good images. This does that, but feels good to use as well. Good feel for the aperture ring, the focusing is nice and smooth, the DOF scale printed on the lens barrel is really nice. The metal construction feels really good in my hands, actually a nice change from Fuji's plastic lenses. Even though it adds a bunch of weight it still doesn't feel unwieldy. Close focus and infinity focus both looked great.

[FUJIFILM G] I do emphasise heavily using the lens for landscapes & panoramas but a shift lens also once was used for single frame architecture keeping buildings 'straight'.

Considering current software controls that allow such straightening, is there any reason to spend this much money for a shift lens other than using it for Landscape & panoramas

Large sensors and lenses with better corners used with AI image improvement might make expensive mechanical answers to the problem less important today.

A real added value to each Fuji GFX users

So long Fuji will develop in the time frame of 2023 a Shift lens you can perform at present time to score with High ranking results in as Architectural and Landscape results

[0.17x] This is a solid, well built lens (it's a little heavy) that produces sharp images. It does lack autofocus and weather-proofing however, it is significantly less expensive than comparable lenses that do offer those features. As I enjoy landscape photography from a tripod with wide angle views and huge depth of field, the fact that it is manual focus is not a problem. So, if that is your type of photography, get this lens, you will not regret it.

[82 mm (Front)] Nice lens for that price

[f/4] I am an architectural and interior photographer. This lens fills a price and quality niche that the big name companies have not addressed. Sure it is a completely mechanical lens, but coming from a view camera background this is not a problem for me. My only minor complaint(s) are...I would like Laowa to publish an unshifted lens profile for this optic and to have aperture markings on the opposite side of the lens, you could see when the lens is rotated 180 degrees. Otherwise a nice addition to my gear and I would not hesitate recommending this lens for professional use.

[FUJIFILM G] After I combined this lens with TLT ROKR from Photodiox to fit the Sony A7 series, I got myself a 15mm TS lens in par with the Canon 17mm TS at a much lower cost. The performance is great and the built is solid.

[0.17x] Great lens - great build quality and fantastic performance. Astonishing field of view and can get incredibly close to subjects; much more so than the official spec would suggest! My new favourite for creative medium-format work.
