[16.9 lb] The two major reasons for choosing this turntable was the beautiful wood finish and the fully automatic feature. The internal preamp works beautifully and I'm beyond pleased. The only gripe is the poor instruction manual from Thorens. Tone arm balance was poorly explained and it does not explain how to adjust the automatic feature if the tone arm starts too far in. Luckily a youtube video addressed that issue. Sine then, its been a joy to own.

Easy set up - the only thing that I messed up initially was having the preamp turned on - this caused high distortion but that went away when I turned the preamp off - duh! Super looking gloss white finish. Manual tonearm, but allows for low profile..

[1x RCA Output] What a beautiful statement this Thorens turntable makes in the gloss white color! Also, it sounds fantastic. This was an upgrade for me from a turntable that has no preamp. With this model’s built in preamp, my listening experience has been dramatically elevated. As an added bonus, the white matches our entertainment center perfectly. It is so unique. I have never seen a white turntable. I had to call BH customer service due to an issue with the website trying to charge me too much for shipping. The agent I spoke to was very friendly and knowledgeable, and he resolved my issue immediately and even processed the order right then so I didn’t have to lift a finger. I am beyond pleased with both the product and BH’s customer support. But that’s nothing new. BH always has top notch products and service. That’s why I keep coming back!

[16.9 lb] I have purchased several turntable pre-amps and they lasted a short while. This one is substantial and audio reference. I expect it to last a long, long time. Excellent sound reproduction.

[1x RCA Output] After many hours of reading reviews of Turntable preamps I decided on the J33 for several reasons. 1) Radial has an outstanding reputation with live sound and recording engineers. 2) One of the only units with XLR (Balanced) outputs. I'm using this with a Linn Sondek LP12 Turntable. Connected the L/R RCA outputs of the J33 into a Harmon Kardon amplifier for listening through Klipsch Forte speakers. The L/R XLR outputs into Presonus AI24 Mixer. The Presonus is connected to a Mac running Pro Tools. Main purpose of this is to allow conversion of vinyl (not available commercially in digital format) to digital format with Pro Tools in my recording studio. The meters in Pro Tools show almost -inf noise floor with the J33. That is very impressive. There literally is no audible hum from the J33 or the Linn. The J33 is also built like a tank. Very happy with my choice and would highly recommend this device for anyone wanting to add a preamp to their turntable.
