Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this work on a standard PA system or does it require a pre-amp?

A: This can connect to a standard XLR mic connection on a mixer. The mixer must provide 48v phantom power to run.

Q: 2. does this work with the Shure SLXD2/SM58 Digital Wireless Handheld Microphone Transmitter ?

A: Yes

Q: 3. If 2 people were sitting at a table roughly 3-4 feet apart and this mic were set in between them would it pick them both up clearly?

A: The microphone may pick up some speech from both speakers if they are sitting side by side in front of the mic. However, as it is a cardioid mic (not omni), you may not get satisfactory results in terms of intelligibility with two speakers sitting opposite each other. We would recommend you use 2 of these mics, one for each speaker.

Q: 4. Can I connect it to my laptop?

A: This condenser goose neck mic can be used with a computer with the addition of an audio interface, such as the Focusrite Scarlett Solo 2x2 USB Audio Interface (3rd Generation), BH #FOSCARSOLO3G. The audio interface can provide the necessary 48 volt phantom power that the mic requires, as well as convert the analog signal into a digital signal, which then conects via the included USB cable to your computer.

Q: 5. What is the cable connection? I'm looking for a XLR or a Mini

A: The Logitech Rally Mic Pod Boundary Microphone B&H # LORLLYMICPOD offers proprietary12-pin connections compatible for daisy-chaining Mic Pods or connecting to the Rally Mic Pod Hub.

Q: 6. Does this microphone come with the windscreen?

A: The Shure MX410LPDF/C 10" Cardioid Dualflex Gooseneck Microphone with Bi-Color Status Indicator does not come with a windscreen. BH# SHRK412WS would be recommended.

Q: 7. Any idea how to store and transport several of these (we have 12)? I can't find any case made specifically for gooseneck microphones, at this point thinking of just buying multiple large hardshell cases and cutting out foam to somewhat fit them, not ideal or cheap but can't think of any other solution.

A: I don't really know. Ours came in a slim box and the mic was wrapped in bubble wraps.

Q: 8. Does this work with Shure BLX2/SM58 and Shure QLXD2/SM58 Handheld Wireless Microphone Transmitters ?

A: BLX2 - no. QLXD2 - yes.

Q: 9. Can you power these using 12V Phantom Power?

A: Yes, the Shure MX418D/C can operate using between 11 to 52V phantom power.

Q: 10. Can you plug this mic directly into a computer through the USB to work via Zoom? Or does it require the Logitech Rally group?

A: The Logitech Rally Mic Pod Boundary Microphone BH #LORLLYMICPOD is intended to be used with the Rally Plus Ultra HD Conference Cam. The connection it uses to connect to the table hub is a Micro USB to Micro USB cable. The Rally Mic Pod Boundary Microphone is an accessory to the Rally, Rally Bar, and Rally Bar Mini video conferencing systems, and requires one of those products to work.

[End Address] We lost our windscreen while moving our mic. This on is perfect for our Shure goose neck mic. Solved our problems.

[Mono] We have a terribly bright and reflective chapel sanctuary, along with a pulpit dangerously near (what I think) is an improperly angled FOH. After switching from a boundary mic (what was left by the previous 'engineer', also a Shure) to this one, 99% of my podium-narrator-speaker-headaches are vaporized. Even with choir monitors on full, I couldn't get this mic to feedback - cracked it up, wouldn't break. The only thing I have to worry about now is just how loud do I really want to make my presenter. I haven't side-by-side this with anything in its class, but what I want it to do and how well it does it, I don't see a need to.

[Solid-State] This foam screen really addressed the problem for us, we are actually using it with Audio Technica mic which was really sensitive to plosives but with this screen the issue is solved. You can blow directly in to the mic and no longer get a nasty pop.

[Black] This lectern mic has exactly the features we were looking for at our church: thin neck, solid base, flexible neck parts, and on/off button with status light. The sound quality and the sensitivity are very good at a reasonable price. Success!

[Solid-State] We use this in our high-ceiling, 100 year-old church/worship hall that can be a difficult room to obtain optimal sound reinforcement. This mic replaced our much older Shure model that was only about 12 and the results are night and day. The 18 Shure really grabs the voice and channels it better than I expected. One of the reasons is that the extra length puts the mic closer to the reader's mouth (It also comes with a mounting base that you can drill/bolt onto a podium at the ideal spot for you). It is an excellent choice for having various readers each church mass, because there's no need to constantly adjust the sound. Even when readers forget to move the mic in the direction of their mouth (for excessively tall or short people) the mic still picks up beautifully. On that topic, when moving the mic, there is no noise picked up, so you can position it silently with no problem and without the need to mute the channel. Our sound system consists of a pair QSC KW 122s and now a 2nd pair of QSC K10's, routed through a DBX 231 eq and a Mackie ProFX 12 mixer with phantom power, which this mic requires. Pretty basic stuff, but highly effective at pushing sound for about 125-150 people. The reason I mention our system is that this mic will surely perform differently in different rooms. The only drawback is that depending on your speaker placement and what other mics you are using in the room (lavalieres for example), you may experience some feedback at higher levels because it really picks up a lot. So, with some care and consideration about such things, you can try to reduce or eliminate the other channels/sound going into this mic and creating a feedback loop. This mic's technology seems to be far superior to the older model, so it does a cleaner job of grabbing what you want and not what you don't. I highly recommend it, especially for churches or podium situations.

[End Address] Works perfectly, the LED ring is very helpful for speakers to know when the mic is on or off.
