Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is this compatible with the x-h2 and Sigma ART 12-24mm lens for EF?

A: Yes, you may use this Commlite 0.71x Focal Reducer & Lens Mount Adapter for Canon EF/EF-S Lens to FUJIFILM X-Mount Camera to bring a Fujifilm X-H2 together with the Sigma 12-24mm f/4 Art Lens for Canon EF.

Q: 2. Is the Integrated Focus and Aperture Gears the only difference between the Cine-Mod version and the normal one? Is there another thing for which to pay $ 200 USD extra? LED with a higher CRI?

A: Just the focus gear , for smother focus during video

Q: 3. Does this work with 18-35 sigma 1.8 efs lens and the 18-400 tamron efs lens?

A: Unfortunately those lenses are not listed as compatible with Commlite 0.71x Focal Reducer & Lens Mount Adapter for Canon EF/EF-S Lens to FUJIFILM X-Mount Camera in the Commlite website so your results may vary.

Q: 4. Although this is advertised for the Probe lens, it seems like it would work with any EF lens...Right?

A: Correct, the Venus Optics Laowa 0.7x Focal Reducer for Probe Lens (EF to L Mount) can be used to adapt EF lenses to L-mount bodies.

Q: 5. can i use this focal reducer with Sony FX30 "APS-C camera" and the laowa probe E mount ?

A: The Venus Optics Laowa 0.7x Focal Reducer for Probe Lens (BH #VE07FREF2E) is an EF to E mount, so you'd have to pair it with the EF mount version of the Venus Optics Laowa 24mm T/14 2x PeriProbe (VE2414PEF) for use with the FX30.

Q: 6. Does it work with Red Komodo and Canon Primes?

A: The Venus Optics Laowa 0.7x Focal Reducer for Probe Lens (EF to R Mount) can mount onto the RED DIGITAL CINEMA KOMODO 6K Digital Cinema Camera (Canon RF), but its designed for the Venus Optics Laowa 24mm f/14 Probe Lens for Canon EF, not general Canon EF primes. See the link below: https://bhpho.to/3FWfW0S

Q: 7. Will this lens work with the F mount adapter for the Nikon Z6?

A: Yes this lens can work on the Nikon FTZ adapter for use on the Nikon Z6.

Q: 8. What other lenses may work with the focal reducer (PL to RF)?

A: The Venus Optics Laowa 0.7x Focal Reducer for Probe Lens (PL to R Mount) (B&H# VE07FRPL2R) is a highly specialized focal reducer designed to fit and work well only with the Venus Optics Laowa 24mm f/14 Probe Lens for ARRI PL (Cine-Mod Version) (B&H# VE2414PL). While it's possible that you may get it to work to your satisfaction with other lenses, we cannot endorse their use as damage to the optical element in the focal reducer could result. The major concern has to do with an invasive rear element in the PL lens coming in contact with the element in the focal reducer. Moreover, even if one could be sure of the fit, the result may suffer from more softening or chromatic aberration than some customers would consider acceptable. As is often the case, however, you are welcome to try the focal reducer and to return it within 30 days with an RMA authorization and accompanied by all of the original packaging. It would also need to be in the same condition in which it was received. Returns policy details: https://bhpho.to/3utL5n1

Q: 9. Will this work with the nanomorph lenses as well? Is there a measurement for the max flange depth that will work with this?

A: The Venus Optics Laowa 0.7x Focal Reducer for Probe Lens (PL to MFT Mount) is optimized for the probe lens, so it can’t be used with the Nanomorph Lens.

Q: 10. Is this product designed to only work with the probe lens? The description & the comparability tab say contradict each other.

A: The Venus Optics Laowa 0.7x Focal Reducer for Probe Lens is designed for mounting the PL-mount Laowa probe lens on a Super 35/APS-C L-mount camera body. This does not mean you can't try to use it with other lenses but it has not been tested to do such and there is no compatibility chart for the adapter.

[0.84 lb] I'm primarily a video producer, but also do a fair amount of commercial photography. This lens offers a unique perspective that other macro lenses just can't deliver. The image quality is fantastic and the 24mm allows for immersive videos and photos allow you to explore the world from the perspective of an ant. The probe lens reaches places other macro lens cannot and the light can be powered by a rechargeable, portable power pack for light in any macro environment. I rented this lens, but just had to buy one to have on multiple upcoming projects.

[5.3 x 5 x 3.6"] I saw an article where a guy was taking photos inside an old violin and was enthralled. Must have been cut and paste or magic. Not so - this lens goes through th ehose where base support is and has a light ring installed at the end. I am now trying to figure out other applications. I'll do another review after I've used it some more.
Very well designed and engineered. Need to do focus stacking in post-processing. More to come with photos

[5.3 x 5 x 3.6"] This is such a unique lens and offers an incredibly interesting perspective! I love that it's water-proof! I've tried it only for a few video clips already but I love the macro wide angle, such a cool perspective!

[5.3 x 5 x 3.6"] This lens is unique and a challenge. I use this for standard macro and chase a lot of insects. Oddly enough the smaller profile scares a lot less of them off. The challenge is YOU. You are 100% in control being it's manual and if you're intending to do the same as I, you are not on a safe tripod nor a set of rails running it through the pages of a book for the 1000th public example *yawn. But that is the pleasure of it. You'll refine your own skill set within the process. Getting the correct amount of light, positioning your lens for the correct DOF for your subject, accompanied with finding the fine line of precise focus. All controlled by your body & hand position. That's the biggest takeaway, it's not an easy button lens if you're going to chase around our macro friends. But it is gratifying when you get the shot. The LEDs are sufficient. I do have a small strobe on a small tripod as well but chasing insects and such, the strobe doesn't compliment the process well so I rely on the LEDs often. The light it gives isn't great for color but that's moot if you're shooting RAW. Overall it's a great lens and is much less intimidating to the macro world vs. a standard macro lens and your face. The optics are good as well, if a photo is off there's a 99.9% chance it's you, not the glass. But that's pretty normal lens commentary. These were all shot on a D850.

[5.3 x 5 x 3.6"] I own a Sigma 150mm~600mm telephoto lens with a Canon EF mount and a Fuji X-S10 camera.
The EXIF shows a max of 420mm when set to 600 (420 x 1.5 crop = 630mm) the view is much brighter and the IBIS as well as the lens image stabilization work well and the auto focus was quick to react to change of scenes, in short, the EF mount Sigma behaved like a Fuji lens in all regards.
The 150mm showed 109mm on EXIF (109 x 1.5 crop = 163.5).
