The black, redesigned Manfrotto MT190XPRO3 Tripod Kit with Joystick Headfrom Manfrotto MT190XPRO3 Tripod Kit with Joystick Headbuilds on the success and popularity of the previous 190 series with professional hardware and convenience features that make it even easier to use than its predecessor.

Set up is faster than ever with Manfrotto's Quick Power Lock System that allows you to completely extend the tripod legs with just one hand. Once set up you can use the MT190XPRO3's rapid center column in standard vertical mode or swing it into horizontal position like a boom with Manfrotto's 90° Column feature. Enlarged tabs on the individual leg angle selectors allow you to get down to only 3.5" for macro work with the column in horizontal mode. And once you're down there you can attach any of Manfrotto's flexible or articulated arms to hold lights or reflectors via the Easy Link plug built into the tripod's spider.

Convenience features include grippy, rubber leg warmers on two legs for cold or inclement weather and a bubble level that rotates so that you can see it easily regardless of the tripod's position. Finally, Manfrotto's insistence on form following function has yielded a tripod that you'll not only be happy to use but you'll be happy to be seen with, too.

The Quick Power Lock (QPL) system is one of the most eye-catching and unique features of the redesigned 190. It is a strong, ultra fast, ergonomic locking system that allows for complete extension of the legs with one hand.

One of the most innovative aspects of the 190 series is its compactness, which allows for easier portability. The redesigned patented 90° Column is accessible whenever you need it with simple one finger operation.

The plug allows instant connection between tripod and accessories, such as LED lights for macro photography and DSLR video applications using Manfrotto articulated arms and brackets.

The bubble is easy to read, whatever the shape of the head or however the tripod is positioned. Just rotate it towards you for easy viewing.

Each leg has user selection of four angles to accommodate uneven ground or rough terrain. The selectors are manufactured according to most innovative ergonomic standards to prevent fingers and nails being trapped in the upper casting.

The entire shape of the tripod has been modified and made more manageable and stylish. The complete redesign of its functional elements shows a particular attention to aesthetics and details: the brand name, for example, appears in many sections of the new 190, including the two legwarmers made of comfortable rubber to provide a secure grip and prevent the conduction of heat and cold in extreme weather conditions.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I have a nikon d3400 with a few different types of lenses. I wanted to take this camera and pick up this tripod for an overseas vacation. Is this tripod a good purchase or should i go with a different one?

A: My experience over about 6 months of use in 2016 is great. I use it with my Sony Alpha 7II with both 50mm and 24 to 240mm OSS zoom lenses. Very sturdy, retractable handles make for compact transport and storage. Very high quality build also means a bit heavier than lesser tripods. I'd buy it again. Worth ever penny.

Q: 2. Could I remove the center column and replace it with a Manfrotto Leveling Center Column with 50mm Leveling Ball?

A: The Manfrotto MT190X3 Aluminum Tripod does not work with the Manfrotto Leveling Center Column.

Q: 3. Does this head come with a quick detach plate

A: Yes, The 200PL-14 comes with it.

Q: 4. What are the biggest differences between this model and the older 190xpro model? Does the new features compensate the extra dollars for the newer version?

A: The new model has improved leg locks, lateral collar and leg angling hardware as well as improved sleeving in the leg sections.

Q: 5. Are the flip leg locks made of aluminum of plastic?

A: The levers are plastic, but the clamp/lock that holds the legs in position are aluminum.

Q: 6. From the specs, it is noted that the counter balance is fixed at 2.4kg. However, even with my heaviest lens, the total weight of my setup is only about 1.8 kg. By using this head, would I be able to balance the rig? (so as to make it stay at a certain position without drooping). Please advise. Thanks in advance.

A: ideally you want to match the counterbalance to the payload. In your case it is close but not perfect so it will drift slightly. if you want to ensure the tripod head will hold you will need to engage the lock.

Q: 7. what is the difference between this and Manfrotto MT055XPRO3-3W Aluminum Tripod with 3-Way Pan/Tilt Head? (other than there load capacity?)

A: Hi--the load capacity, the maximum height, the minimum height, the weight, and the folded length are different for the two tripods you are asking about.

Q: 8. Do the older heads for a 190xPROB fit on this new tripod. I have an 804RC2 head for example and it looks like the uniting plate is different ?

A: The tripod has a standard 3/8 -16 head mount screw. Any head using 3/8 -16 will mount.

Q: 9. Does this tripod setup come with a carrying case?

A: A tripod case is not included.

Q: 10. Which country is this made in?

A: The Manfrotto MT190X3 Aluminum Tripod and 494 Ball Head with 200PL-PRO Quick Release Plate Kit country of origin is Italy.

[3] You can't go wrong with these tripods. They are some of the most versatile, sturdy, and fairly compact tripods around. I got this mainly for photos and smaller DSLR video. If you need something for a larger rig Manfrotto's heavier tripods work great for those. These are more expensive that other tripods but a good tripod can last a long time and not get outdated so it is worth getting the better ones.

[3/8"-16 Male] I own two other Tripods (different brand) & this is by far the most versatile & stable of the three. I mounted a Manfrotto XPRO 3-way Geared Head. The combination is unbeatable. A Photographers dream.

[Aluminum] I move fast on my shoots, and have found this tripod to be a good fit. Quick to lock and unlock the legs. Fast and simple to switch the column to horizontal. For those worried about a loose lock, there's a little wrench clipped to one leg for emergency lock tightening.

[3] I haven't been able to use my new Manfrotto MT190XPRO4 aluminum tripod very much so far as I do a lot of handheld work. But, it's well constructed, easy to use, got all the bells and whistles I want and is certainly a step up from my Slik AMT 330Pro DX. A professional wedding photographer friend recommended Manfrotto and I can understand why he said to go this way.

[5.45 lb] This tripod is very stable and can be arranged in various ways to suit different situations. The size is perfect for a 22-inch carry-on suitcase. That's important for me as I travel a lot for my work.
You can add to your purchase a suitable head for the work you need to focus on.
