Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is there a plug in to record MP3 for transcription

A: No, there is no plug-in to record MP3 on the Sound Devices 833 Field Recorder. The 833 records audio in WAV format.

Q: 2. What does it mean when all of the channel LED rings are flashing yellow, and it won't allow me to record?

A: Regarding the Sound Devices 833 8-Channel / 12-Track Multitrack Field Recorder, when all of the channel LED rings are flashing yellow and won't allow you to record, that means your sync reference is set to "external", but there is no external source. You would just need to set your sync reference to "internal".

Q: 3. Does this thing still get super hot?

A: The Sound Devices 833 8-Channel / 12-Track Multitrack Field Recorder uses powerful FPGA chips within its heat-sink frame and is subject to heat with use, especially in warm environments.

Q: 4. Is there any noise on the line out as it was with F6? I am thinking to use it to connected XLR mics to Canon R5.

A: We have not yet had the opportunity to test the Zoom F3 Recorder but we certainly will once it is available in stock. There are no specs listed for the noise level of the recorder's outputs, but the spec for equivalent input noise is very low at ≤-127 dBu which does aid in the recorder's ability to deliver audio with low noise.

Q: 5. what orca 280 can for mixpre 10 ii ?

A: The ORCA OR-280 Audio Bag for MixPre-10 Mixer is compatible with the MixPre-10 ii.

Q: 6. Will this bag allow for both Sound Devices 833 in combo with the SL2?

A: No, the K-Tek Stingray Junior X Audio Mixer Recorder Bag will not accommodate both the Sound Devices 833 Multitrack Field Recorder and the Sound Devices SL-2 Dual SuperSlot Wireless Module for 8-Series Mixer/Recorder at the same time. As a better option, K-Tek recommends using the K-Tek Stingray Small-X Audio Bag for Sound Devices 833, 888, and 633 Recorders (B&H # KTKSTGSX).

Q: 7. Will the OR-280 work with the TASCAM DR-680MK II?

A: Yes it will fit the Tascam recorder: Orca bag: Dimensions: Interior: 9.4 x 4.5 x 7.9" / 23 x 11.4 x 20 cm Exterior: 12.2 x 9.8 x 8.7" / 31 x 25 x 22 cm Tascam recorder: Dimensions (W x H x D) 8.5 x 2.2 x 7.4" (216.4 x 56.0 x 188.4 mm)

Q: 8. Is there a d tap to usb c cable that can lower the output to 5v to power the F3?

A: Yes, there are cables such as BH #INGP5DT3 IndiPRO Tools D-Tap to Regulated Right-Angle USB Type-C Cable, which could serve the purpose of powering the Zoom F3 2-Input / 2-Track Portable Field Recorder via D-Tap to USB-C with 5V attenuation: https://bhpho.to/37VT8jZ

Q: 9. When SDHC or SDXC cards are formatted in the F3, what format are they in? FAT32 or something else? I can't find this spec in the manual, just want to make sure that card can be read by a computer after removing it from the F3.

A: The format protocol implemented within the Zoom F3 2-Input / 2-Track Portable Field Recorder depends on the type of memory card used. SDHC cards are formatted using FAT 32 and SDXC cards are formatted using exFAT.

Q: 10. what does 32-Bit (A/D Conversion) mean on the spec list, does it mean If I want to record 32-bit, I will need to connect it to computer?

A: The 32-bit specification refers to the amount of audio information the Sound Devices 833 8-Channel / 12-Track Multitrack Field Recorder is capable of capturing while recording in reference to bit depth. 32-bit recording captures more information mainly due to its floating-point format versus traditional fixed-point bit depths of 16 and 24 bit. This, in essence, allows for a much wider dynamic range to be captured and makes it hard to record clipped or distorted signals. Sound Devices publishes a useful article on their site that explains this in depth and can be found here: https://bit.ly/3SGcsE5

[White] This a wonderfully made compact mixer bag.
I am using it with a Sound Devices PreMix 10T mixer. It fits snugly, but it does what I wanted it to do.
It holds the mixer, NP1 type battery, 1 Lectro SRa duel receiver and two Audio Limited 2000 receivers. It also has a couple zipped pockets for extras.

[0.115 lb] I bought this for use with my brand new Mixpre 10ii. I was use to my Mixpre 6 with an orca OR-28 sound bag. The major issue with it for my was the form factor because it's is a little difficult to carry the bag in a bag pack. This one is larger but tinnier at the same time so there is no problem for carry it in that way. I just as a mod to the mole style attachment on the front cutting with a knife between them. Why? Because now I can use this attachment point with my uwpd receivers. Simple process.

[White] First off, the light blue color makes it so easy to see what's going on in the bag. I actually bought a black porta-brace bag first, but quickly returned it when it was apparent that the black lining made it very hard to see black patch cords against a black SD 633 mixer. I can't stress enough how cool the aluminum frame is and how much sturdier it makes the overall bag. I am carrying a SD 302 mixer in addition to my SD 633 in my OR-34 Mixer Bag, as well as three G3 wireless rx, an Audio Devices BD system, and I still have some room to grow. I do like the trend of bigger, clear covers for the top of the bag - that way your antennas won't get smashed. The OR-34 incorporates a larger clear cover that is also removeable. The bag also comes with a generously padded shoulder strap but I use a harness so I don't have much experience working with the strap. By the way, B&H made the exchange of the porta-brace bag for the OR-34 bag a quick and painless experience. This is why B&H always gets my business.

[White] This was purchased to use in two different situations, with my SFX and boom op kits.

The SFX kit is built around a MixPre-6 II with Stingray Junior kit, and there are times where the shoulder strap just gets in the way, or where it’s more important to be able to look straight down at the meters. The belt is easy to adjust and keeps the bag right where I need it when I’m running around recording sound effects out in the wild.

My boom op kit is built around a Sound Devices MM-1, and often with a wireless transmitter. That, plus cables, make for a lot of stuff that can be difficult to manage on a regular belt. The Stingray Waist Belt makes it easy to carry and manage everything, and since I wear a chest-harnessed tactical pack with tools and expendables, the belt keeps everything clear.

When a chest harness-mounted sound bag is too much, and a regular (wardrobe) belt or a shoulder strap isn’t enough, this hits the happy medium.
