Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Could this lens work for real estate photography with a R7?

A: As the Venus Optics Laowa 10mm f/4 Cookie Lens for Canon RF (Black) is a rectilinear lens and it has super-low distortion, while it is a super-wide angle lens, yes, it should be compatible for your real estate usage needs.

Q: 2. Is this an autofocus lens?

A: No, the Venus Optics Laowa 19mm f/2.8 Zero-D Lens for FUJIFILM GFX is a manual focus lens only. Aperture control is manual as well.

Q: 3. shutter isnt working, do I nee to do anuything in my camera settings? GFX series

A: You need to set the camera to shoot without a lens. In this link it shows where in the menu to set that. http://fujifilm-dsc.com/en/manual/gfx50s/menu_setup/button-dial_setting/index.html#shoot_without_lens

Q: 4. So... What is the potential vignetting on a full-frame Canon R like the R6M2? What does the image look like?

A: The Venus Optics Laowa 10mm f/4 Cookie Lens for Canon RF (Black) will create an image that is black all around and only the center has the photo if you have the camera in full frame mode. If you set the camera to apsc crop mode the image will fill the whole frame but less than half of the available megapixels will be used.

Q: 5. Does it cover Super35?

A: No this lens would be designed for MTF sensor coverage, if you were looking for a Super35 equivalent lens, I would look at a 15mm Zero-D lens for the mount you need, or you could make use of this lens with a speed booster to give you proper coverage on a Super35 sensor.

Q: 6. The description lists the lens hood as "built-in." Can this lens hood be removed? I'm assuming yes but wanted to be sure. Thanks

A: The Venus Optics Laowa 10mm f/2 Zero-D Lens for Micro Four Thirds includes a removable lens hood.

Q: 7. Can you attach step up rings to the front of this lens?

A: The Venus Optics Laowa Zero-D Cine Lens 10mm T2.1 (MFT, Feet/Meters) has 58mm filter threads on the front of the lens. You may attach step up rings to it.

Q: 8. Is this for FF or AF-C nikon cameras?

A: Venus Optics Laowa 10mm f/4 Cookie Lens for Nikon Z (Black) is designed for APS-C cameras. It is not full frame.

Q: 9. Does anyone know if using these lenses with an EF mount in conjunction with the EF to RF adapter on a Red Komodo would cause issues? Interested in using them that way because of the rear ND option.

A: The Venus Optics Laowa Nanomorph S35 Prime 3-Lens Bundle (ARRI PL & Canon EF, Silver Flare) will work fine with an EF to RF adapter when mounted to a Red Komodo camera.

Q: 10. Will the mounts be able to be swapped after purchase?

A: Yes, the Venus Optics Laowa Nanomorph S35 Prime 3-Lens Bundle (Micro Four Thirds, Amber Flare) is interchangeable mount capable. See the link below for the Venus Optics Laowa Nanomorph Bayonets: https://bhpho.to/3TAYTG4

[f/4] I chose this lens over the 7.5mm as I didn't want to go so wide. I found the 10mm is wide enough and with this lens being $100 cheaper than the 7.5mm along with it being an official M4/3 lens with camera communication, I felt it was a better value.

The image quality is great and I find it to be plenty sharp, even wide open. The sweet spot seems to be around F4.0. I also love the close focus distance which gives some nice macro images. There is some vignette at wide open just like the 7.5mm.

This is a great focal length for doing on camera gimbal shots. I feel that the 7.5mm is too wide and requires you to get much closer to your subject which leads to facial distortions. (big noses)

Be sure to turn off the in-body I.S. when walking with the lens hand held or you'll get the dreaded warbly background. I didn't notice too much warbly background with I.S. using the gimbal but I try to switch off I.S. to be safe. I.S. isn't needed with this wide of a lens on a gimbal.

[APS-C] Use this lens on M5.3. M10.2 as and M1.2 Works well. Good images. Everything I would expect from this lens.

[APS-C] Just got into the m43 ecosystem and this lens was a big factor for my 'compact system' choice. I love this focal length, and this one ticks all the boxes for me: fast, small, sharp, great build quality. Did I say sharp? Even at f2, I'm amazed how good this lens is even to the corners. I certainly got a good copy. The distortion is absolutely negligible. While vignetting wide open is heavy, it's very broad with no abrupt changes, so in real world images it's not objectionable. More like middle hot spot than dark edges. Its minimum focus distance is also very close.

There are several minor complaints but nothing that's a deal breaker. The hood can't be taken on or off with the lens cap on. Wish the mount alignment dot was on the side of the lens and not the flange so it's easier to see.

Overall, I'm very impressed.

[f/4] Great build and image quality. It's wide (and m4/3), so manual focusing is no problem. In low light use MF assist and focus peaking at f/2. In bright light use f/8 and good old-fashioned zone focusing.

[Manual Focus] I am here to say I love Laowa lenses. I have half a dozen of them and plan to buy more. I particularly love how compact and light they are, the optics (Laowa really does innovative and highly differentiated things), the build quality and handling, and more recently, I love that they are making manual-focus lenses for Micro Four Thirds with electronic contacts to communicate EXIF and an electronic aperture (so I can focus wide open and have the lens stop down to the selected aperture just in time to take the shot). It is the best of all worlds and I wish more companies making manual focus lenses would add these features. I do not wish for autofocus; just for the rest of the electronics.

[0.685 lb] This lens is the absolute best for setting up real estate interior shots as well as very wide landscape shots. Very little if any distortion on the corners and so crisp.

[APS-C] As a hobbyist and amateur photographer, I really loved this. I took it on a big 20-mile hike, and it's the best because of its light weight. Every ounce really makes a difference! It's my only lens that is light enough that it doesn't tip the body on my XT4 over. It's ultra wide frame makes it great for landscapes and astrophotography. I look forward to getting more creative with my framing too. No regrets here!

[37 mm (Front)] Keep in mind you're getting this lens because it's a pancake, not because it's the best 10mm out there. This perfectly filled the need I had for an ultra-wide lens easy to pocket while hiking. 3D pop is good, colors are very saturated, makes nice sun stars, and is sufficiently sharp. It has extreme vignetting at every aperture, but that's the price you pay for the size. It's a quick fix in any decent editing software. Bonus points to Laowa for offering it in silver too.

[0.685 lb] Researched this lens for a while before I decided to pull the trigger.
I'm very glad I did. It's built very well, with no defects or issues out of the box. I don't usually shoot in in-climate weather, so weatherproofing isn't vital to me. It is a moody lens with a great deal of vignetting. I like that look and can find a million ways to be creative using it, so it's nice I don't have to deal with that too often in correcting it. It's super crispy and definitely looks great on all of my Fuji X-mount cameras. I especially like the look, feel, and image capture of the X-Pro 3 paired with this little lens. It's not a super easy lens to just pull out and shoot with, but it is a super clear and lightweight lens to use when you are feeling creative with your photography.
