Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will the Lee 100 Filter system work with this lens?

A: Yes. But the following is needed in order to do so. LEE Filters 52mm Wide-Angle Lens Adapter Ring for 100mm System Filter Holder BH #LEARWA52 • MFR #WAR052 https://bhpho.to/39y1yzi

Q: 2. What country are these made in?

A: These cookie cutters are made in Israel.

Q: 3. The description lists the lens hood as "built-in." Can this lens hood be removed? I'm assuming yes but wanted to be sure. Thanks

A: The Venus Optics Laowa 10mm f/2 Zero-D Lens for Micro Four Thirds includes a removable lens hood.

Q: 4. Has anyone use Laowa 14mm F/4 for InfraRed photography? Does it has a hotspot that makes it unusable?

A: To our knowledge, the Laowa 14mm f/4 FF RL Lens for Nikon Z has not been tested with an infrared-converted Nikon Z mount camera.

Q: 5. Will this lens accept a NISI V6 100mm filter holder?

A: It won't work because the hood is not removable so the hood will not allow the filter holder to fit on the adapter ring.

Q: 6. given that the lens hood is built in, would a 55mm filter with a 52-55 step ring fit?

A: It wouldn't fit due to the lens hood unfortunately.

Q: 7. Can you attach step up rings to the front of this lens?

A: The Venus Optics Laowa Zero-D Cine Lens 10mm T2.1 (MFT, Feet/Meters) has 58mm filter threads on the front of the lens. You may attach step up rings to it.

Q: 8. So... What is the potential vignetting on a full-frame Canon R like the R6M2? What does the image look like?

A: The Venus Optics Laowa 10mm f/4 Cookie Lens for Canon RF (Black) will create an image that is black all around and only the center has the photo if you have the camera in full frame mode. If you set the camera to apsc crop mode the image will fill the whole frame but less than half of the available megapixels will be used.

Q: 9. Is this for FF or AF-C nikon cameras?

A: Venus Optics Laowa 10mm f/4 Cookie Lens for Nikon Z (Black) is designed for APS-C cameras. It is not full frame.

Q: 10. Anyone have problems with dust getting in the lens since it's not weather sealed?

A: To date, there have been no reports of dust entering this particular lens.

[f/22] Keep in mind you're getting this lens because it's a pancake, not because it's the best 10mm out there. This perfectly filled the need I had for an ultra-wide lens easy to pocket while hiking. 3D pop is good, colors are very saturated, makes nice sun stars, and is sufficiently sharp. It has extreme vignetting at every aperture, but that's the price you pay for the size. It's a quick fix in any decent editing software. Bonus points to Laowa for offering it in silver too.

[109.3°] Just got into the m43 ecosystem and this lens was a big factor for my 'compact system' choice. I love this focal length, and this one ticks all the boxes for me: fast, small, sharp, great build quality. Did I say sharp? Even at f2, I'm amazed how good this lens is even to the corners. I certainly got a good copy. The distortion is absolutely negligible. While vignetting wide open is heavy, it's very broad with no abrupt changes, so in real world images it's not objectionable. More like middle hot spot than dark edges. Its minimum focus distance is also very close.

There are several minor complaints but nothing that's a deal breaker. The hood can't be taken on or off with the lens cap on. Wish the mount alignment dot was on the side of the lens and not the flange so it's easier to see.

Overall, I'm very impressed.

[Manual Focus] Great build and image quality. It's wide (and m4/3), so manual focusing is no problem. In low light use MF assist and focus peaking at f/2. In bright light use f/8 and good old-fashioned zone focusing.

[109.3°] Researched this lens for a while before I decided to pull the trigger.
I'm very glad I did. It's built very well, with no defects or issues out of the box. I don't usually shoot in in-climate weather, so weatherproofing isn't vital to me. It is a moody lens with a great deal of vignetting. I like that look and can find a million ways to be creative using it, so it's nice I don't have to deal with that too often in correcting it. It's super crispy and definitely looks great on all of my Fuji X-mount cameras. I especially like the look, feel, and image capture of the X-Pro 3 paired with this little lens. It's not a super easy lens to just pull out and shoot with, but it is a super clear and lightweight lens to use when you are feeling creative with your photography.

[Manual Focus] This lens is surprisingly sharp and very tiny. Color rendering is great, as is 3D pop. The only downsides are a thin focus ring (take care to keep your fingers out of the shot), and fairly substantial vignetting (which I actually like, as it provides sone character to the images, but easily fixed in Lightroom). Someone here said it was difficult to focus — but that problem is also easily solved. Just activate focus in peaking in your camera’s viewfinder. The best $300 I have ever spent on a camera lens. So much fun.

[5] I am here to say I love Laowa lenses. I have half a dozen of them and plan to buy more. I particularly love how compact and light they are, the optics (Laowa really does innovative and highly differentiated things), the build quality and handling, and more recently, I love that they are making manual-focus lenses for Micro Four Thirds with electronic contacts to communicate EXIF and an electronic aperture (so I can focus wide open and have the lens stop down to the selected aperture just in time to take the shot). It is the best of all worlds and I wish more companies making manual focus lenses would add these features. I do not wish for autofocus; just for the rest of the electronics.

[L-Mount] Use this lens on M5.3. M10.2 as and M1.2 Works well. Good images. Everything I would expect from this lens.

[APS-C] The Laowa 10mm F4 is a great little lens. Well built, pretty sharp, very well corrected for distortion, and impressively tiny. You could complain about the rather pronounced vignetting at wide apertures, or the lack of critical sharpness in the extreme corners, these are real issues. Or you could marvel at how absolutely tiny this lens is, how little distortion it has, how well built it is, how useful for creative composition it's close focus capabilities are, and how you didn't have to spend a lot of money to get such a handy ultra-wide on your APSc camera (Fuji-X in my case). A great tool that's easy to keep with you at all times and easy to appreciate despite its minor failings.
