Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this work with the LUMIX GH-5?

A: The Venus Optics Laowa 4mm f/2.8 Fisheye Lens for Micro Four Thirds is compatible with Panasonic Lumix DC-GH5 .

Q: 2. Will this lens work with the X5S DJI camera?

A: Yes, the Venus Optics Laowa 4mm f/2.8 Fisheye Lens for Micro Four Thirds, B&H # VE428MFT, would be compatible for use with the DJI Zenmuse X5S. It is a fully manual focus lens, so you would have to set the focus at infinity when using the unit with the DJI Zenmuse X5S.

Q: 3. Is this for FF or AF-C nikon cameras?

A: Venus Optics Laowa 10mm f/4 Cookie Lens for Nikon Z (Black) is designed for APS-C cameras. It is not full frame.

Q: 4. Will this work on a Sony a7R3?

A: The answer is technically yes. This lens will fit on your Sony but it's made to work on Sony APS-C/cropped sensor cameras. So if you put this on a full frame you're going to get a cropped sensor/APS-C framing and lower resolution.

Q: 5. Will the grip on the fujifilm xh2 be visible in photos?

A: No, the Venus Optics Laowa 4mm f/2.8 Fisheye Lens for FUJIFILM X will produce a huge circular fisheye 210° angle of view.

Q: 6. Is this the same optical design as found in earlier lenses from Meike or new design?

A: The manufacturer claims that the Meike 10mm T2.2 Cine Lens (RF Mount) BH #MEMK10T22RF has evolved since its earlier models. We are not able to determine if the overall optical or mechanics have been redesigned or simply updated/refreshed.

Q: 7. If I zoom in with this lens on my nikon z30 will the vignetting get smaller and be in the corners?

A: The Venus Optics Laowa 4mm f/2.8 Fisheye Lens for Nikon Z is for Nikon Z cameras with an APS-C size sensor, including the Nikon Z30 Mirrorless Camera. The lens does produce a circular image. This is not a zoom lens; you could crop out the black border in post but will end up with a small file.

Q: 8. how would this lens perform on a FX Z mount?

A: Venus Optics Laowa 4mm f/2.8 Fisheye Lens for Nikon Z will work on an FX Z mount camera. However since it is an apsc lens the circular image will be very small in the frame. You can crop in later but the resolution will be much lower.

Q: 9. does this lens work with Sony A7rii mirrorless?

A: Yes, it will work but this is for a cropped sensor camera (aps-c) so you will be using about 40% of the sensor on the A7r2 and reducing resolution by about 40%.

Q: 10. Could this lens work for real estate photography with a R7?

A: As the Venus Optics Laowa 10mm f/4 Cookie Lens for Canon RF (Black) is a rectilinear lens and it has super-low distortion, while it is a super-wide angle lens, yes, it should be compatible for your real estate usage needs.

[37 mm (Front)] Very good, lightweight compact lens. I have tested this on my Z Cam S6 and it does in fact cover Super 35 in 6K, there is some slight issue with the corners in open gate only. It's rectilinear, so on the S6 with no lens correction in body it looks great, plus of course it is also way wider than m4/3. So for an S6 owner, you get the super wideangle, low distortion and electronic control.
Works fine on my Lumix cameras, but I have heard of some ppl with issues with the firmware. Works fine for me so far.
Sharpness: while not at the absolute tippy top, it's veru sharp across the frame. 2.8 is better than 2.0, and F4 or 4.5 is the sweet spot.
Aperture: this is electronic only.
Hood: a bit too flexible and small, but fine and it comes with the camera.
There's really no issues with this lens. It also can focus fairly close. It's hard to focus only because everything is always in focus.
When you look at it, it's tiny so you figure, well, it can't be that bright. But, actually, it's a bright lens with good color. It can overexpose a bit if you set it to auto, but this is easy to deal with with exposure compensation.
Flare: sure, it's a 10mm lens.

[f/22] Very good image and build quality. Focus and aperture rings are super smooth and responsive. It's my first cine style lens and now I understand it's appeal. Highly recommended.

[109.3°] Just got into the m43 ecosystem and this lens was a big factor for my 'compact system' choice. I love this focal length, and this one ticks all the boxes for me: fast, small, sharp, great build quality. Did I say sharp? Even at f2, I'm amazed how good this lens is even to the corners. I certainly got a good copy. The distortion is absolutely negligible. While vignetting wide open is heavy, it's very broad with no abrupt changes, so in real world images it's not objectionable. More like middle hot spot than dark edges. Its minimum focus distance is also very close.

There are several minor complaints but nothing that's a deal breaker. The hood can't be taken on or off with the lens cap on. Wish the mount alignment dot was on the side of the lens and not the flange so it's easier to see.

Overall, I'm very impressed.

[f/22] Had one of these for my Canon M mount system. Just had to have for my new RF systems also. Need to practice how to trigger camera so you are NOT part of the shot.

[f/4] Great build and image quality. It's wide (and m4/3), so manual focusing is no problem. In low light use MF assist and focus peaking at f/2. In bright light use f/8 and good old-fashioned zone focusing.

[f/4] Optically excellent even on my 60mp camera. I thought I would find F5.6 a limitation, but for macro use I have been operating at F8 to F11.
The small physical size and low weight is a big plus!
I bought Leica M mount version because with adapters I can use it on all my mirrorless cameras.

[5] This little lens has really impressed me with its build quality, optical quality, and the excellent feel of both focus and aperture rings. It's a real pleasure to use (and to carry!) on a daily basis. It's easily small enough to just carry along in your bag so that you're prepared for unexpected opportunities. I honestly couldn't be more pleased with this lens.

[Canon RF] Great fun, huge field of view and no more distortion that a fisheye inevitably has. Worth even the full price. Just remember to keep your own thumbs and shoes out of the picture! (Others have complained that grips and batteries intrude - that’s a feature of a 210 degree coverage, not a bug - you can’t blame the lens for the not overriding the laws of optics!)

[f/4] Researched this lens for a while before I decided to pull the trigger.
I'm very glad I did. It's built very well, with no defects or issues out of the box. I don't usually shoot in in-climate weather, so weatherproofing isn't vital to me. It is a moody lens with a great deal of vignetting. I like that look and can find a million ways to be creative using it, so it's nice I don't have to deal with that too often in correcting it. It's super crispy and definitely looks great on all of my Fuji X-mount cameras. I especially like the look, feel, and image capture of the X-Pro 3 paired with this little lens. It's not a super easy lens to just pull out and shoot with, but it is a super clear and lightweight lens to use when you are feeling creative with your photography.

[37 mm (Front)] Keep in mind you're getting this lens because it's a pancake, not because it's the best 10mm out there. This perfectly filled the need I had for an ultra-wide lens easy to pocket while hiking. 3D pop is good, colors are very saturated, makes nice sun stars, and is sufficiently sharp. It has extreme vignetting at every aperture, but that's the price you pay for the size. It's a quick fix in any decent editing software. Bonus points to Laowa for offering it in silver too.
