A: The shoe mount is removable revealing a 3/8 mount which will work with the Wooden Camera cage.

A: It is indeed all metal, however, I use it on the cold shoe mount from my camera and I've never had a problem from slipping. Furthermore, I usually place a heavy Atomos Shogun and it holds just right. I would recommend this.

Q: 8. Will this handle the weight of a Shogun if I have a 3/8 male to 3/8 male adapter?

A: With ease. I have used it on many occasions with a 1/4 to 3/8 adapter to mount a shotgun mic. In fact, I have used it to mount one DSLR on top of another DSLR, which is considerably more weight than most shotgun mics. I highly recommend this mount.

Q: 9. What is the height of this item? I am looking for an extender to permit me to use a field monitor on a Canon XA-50 with attached external microphone.

[0.2 lb] Using an IR receiver without a vertical adjustment often created a problem in positioning the transmitter! Solves the problem very nicely. 5
