Q: 2. Hi, I want to use the pictor zooms with a GH5s as a b-camera, and I read somewhere that the pictor zooms with EF mounts won't work with the EF-M43 adapter (Metabones T Speed Booster ULTRA 0.71x Adapter). Why is that? Thank you!

A: The lens element of the speedbooster touches the rear-element of the lens.

Q: 3. Will these lenses work with the Blackmagic focus and zoom demand units?

A: The DZOFilm Pictor lenses are manual control. The Black Magic Zoom, and Focus Demand require electronic servo motor driven lenses. [Yes] Bought this and the 20-55 for a few jobs where they will be paired with some Zeiss Superspeed primes. On FX9 they cover up to 5K (about 1.2 crop) easily.

They are nice par-focal cinema zooms. They have a pleasant look that is reminiscent of older lenses but they are for sure not 'old' in any way. Modern coating control flaring excellently. They will let a highlight bloom a bit but never ghost the whole frame and wash out your blacks. Very very sharp when in focus but do an interesting thing where it is easy to tell where the focal plane ends and the out of focus begins. Like the micro contrast just melts away. A wonderful set.

I have owned the Fujinon MK zooms for a long time so I thought this set might be a duplicate. Not at all. They are on opposite ends of the high end glass spectrum. Fujinons are clean and sharp and clear. The DZOfilm lenses are full of character and texture but also sharp. Hard to put into words but it is very nice.

[Black] I bought both of these Pictor lenses and used them on a 10 national commercial shoot for a major insurance company and wow was I very pleased. I used them on my RED Ranger Gemini and did have to shim the 20-55mm so it would be parfocal which was a bit timely but once done I was extremely pleased. I had a set of sigma Cine lenses on hold from a rental house and these ended up working so well in the week I had them before the shoot I canceled those lenses and went with these. Really amazing glass and as we all know glass is where it’s at.

[Latch] It's very solidly made, handles nicely, and includes both a PL and Canon EF mount, which take around five minutes to switch out. The focus, iris, and zoom rings are nice and smooth, and the whole thing feels great.

The image quality shooting nature and fashion has turned out to be very good, and I'm looking forward to using it on a film set this weekend.

[Black] Amazing value for the price! Nothing like it in this price range. The mechanics are super smooth and the par focal feature is unheard of in this budget. Very solid. The optics lean very vintage if you're into that kind of thing. The bokeh has a nervy quality to it. Medium amount of chromatic and spherical aberration. Sharp, but definitely not clinical. Changing the mount takes a little time and remember to record your shim values for switching back and forth. Will most likely buy the 50-125mm in the future.

[Yes] First I'll start by saying this is the first big boy lens I have owned. I've upgraded from using a BMPCC 4k with photographic lenses to an Ursa with this lens. I have zero experience with professional equipment but I fo have a very solid understanding of how to use a camera.

With that said this lens gives me far more capabilities than what I'm used to. The longer throw focus and better aperature across the whole focal length is day and night compared to photographic lenses but if you are in the market for something like this than you already know that.

The only thing I'll say bad about this lens is its ability to hold focus. It comes with PL mount out of the box and the hardware for an EF. I had it swapped to EF by a local professional camera retailer. Its my first parafocal lens. I expected it to hold perfect focus throughout its zoom range especially since the flange was swapped by a professional AND I gave them my camera to make sure everything was tip top. From my eye it seems the focus shifts slightly. Focusing a subject at full zoom then pulling out seems to pull the focus a bit. This is also reflected by focus assist/peaking. It is minuscule though and difficult to perceive unless looking for it. For me it's an incredibly useful lens. The price compared to other lenses is what sold me. Hope this was helpful to someone!

[Handle] I purchased both the Pictor lenses and used them on a day 10 commercial shoot and they were just great. I used them on my RED Ranger with Gemini sensor and the images were stunning to say the least. Theres nothing even close to these in this price range as these really can play up there with the must pricier lenses. I rent a lot of glass and always will because not one lens is right for every project but I do know this was a great purchase and these lenses are amazing!!!!

[Black] I have the
Pictor zoom set

I normally use them for my documentary projects . And one good advantage they have is the interchangeable mount. They can be used on both PL and EF mount cameras, they are kinda future proof .
One good thing about them too is that they are parfocal meaning if im shooting wide and decide to change my image size by zooming in I dont have to readjust my focus. Pretty good lenses yeah!

[Latch] I have been holding out on buying a cine zoom for a long time - prices were just too high. I recently heard about DZOFilm's Pictor line, and started seeing reviews that were praising its features and build quality. The fact that it comes with a EF mount and shim kit is a huge bonus. The price, compared to everything else I could find was phenomenal.

It's a little tricky to dial in the appropriate amount of shims to get the parfocal feature working - for my BMPCC 6K I ended up with the .5 shim that was there by default plus an additional .17 in shims after some fiddling and Blackmagic forum suggestions. Once done, it works great and you don't have to mess with it again (unless you switch back to PL).

The lens is HEAVY - which is something I am not used to given I normally shoot with Rokinon Cine DS primes. I need to see about adding a lens support on my shoulder rig for this beast.

I love the look of the focus, iris, and zoom markings - very clear and easy to read.

This will be a perfect lens for corporate, doc, and livestreaming scenarios!
