[Zoom Gear] Just received my Nikon 8-15mm Fisheye lens. Haven't used it a lot yet.
The 8mm circular photo is cool. I do not think this will be an everyday lens, but I know it will be a lot of fun.

[Zoom Gear] This thing is just extraordinary!

The first major photo I took with this lens was a bolt of lightning that hit near by. It totally distorted the plasma bolts. WOW!

A lens of this type has it's applications for sure. Yet when it does it, it does it really really well...

Money well spent.

[Zoom Gear] How can I stress this enough. TAKE THE LENS HOOD OFF! I was getting a square image, no circle. I started to panic. Couldn't find anything on online about what was happening. I was getting mad. I called Nikon. They were looking into the problem. Then someone on the phone said the words lens hood. I immediately knew the problem. I took the lens hood off and voila! Problem solved. I didn't even think about it beforehand because the 14-24 has a built in lens hood that doesn't come off. Rookie mistake. Felt like a real idiot in front of the entire office. Yes, you may laugh at me. Go right ahead. Hopefully my mistake will keep you from making the same!

[Zoom Gear] I bought this lens primarily to shoot marine life in an underwater housing. I have seen results from other underwater photographers, and the wide angle macro images are stunning. Can't wait to get it underwater in the Maldives this fall.

[Zoom Gear] If you want to add an artistic edge to your photographs, or your are an artist wanting to move to photography for another form of artistic expression, this lens should lens receive some serious consideration. Though most of my work is photographing action with a Nikon 70mm to 200m 2.8 FL ED, I use this lens to challenging my self. I agree with the other reviews as to the technical aspects, sharp (outstanding image quality) and fast (great in low light) . Also I recommend one of the lens cases offered because lens cover is HUGE! and lens body is not a metal body. It has been in regular use since 4/5/2023. One challenge is keeping your feet out of the picture. I used it on a D500. My up loaded images have the blue ring edge as I do not have soft wear to remove it yet. Thus you can see and evaluate it for your self. The more I use it the more the artistic potential is realized. B and H did their usual excellent job on shipping, I had it in my hands in three days.
ENJOY!!

[Zoom Gear] This is the first fisheye lens I have owned. I alway thought they were specialty lenses for very special purposes.
I just spent a week in Japan on holiday and I rarely took this lens off. Buildings, trees, scenery, everything was beautiful when photographed through this astounding lens. I used it mostly at 15 mm, but on occasion took the lens shade off and took true circular fisheye images.
I visited "World Square" in Nikko, an amazing collection of miniature buildings from around the world. This lens was perfect for up-close pictures of these amazing works of art. Then I went off to see Izumo. I used the lens for both architecture and landscapes.
I'm so happy I discovered this.

[Zoom Gear] I have been using this lens for more than 18 months for topside and UW photography. I'm impressed with how sharp the lens is, including on the edges. The lens is equally useful at 15 mm. A quick turn and now the lens gives me almost 180 degrees. It truly is two lenses in one. Underwater, this lens allows extreme wide angle photography with a very close focusing distance. Of course you must remove the dome port protector to prevent vignetting. I attached a few examples from Fiji. To get most of my images, the lens most be only a few inches from the subject.

[Zoom Gear] I have a Tamron 90mm Macro and the auto focus is way too slow underwater. There is no particular focus gear for my lens, but I measured it up to the closest Nikon lens and bought this gear. Previously, I had to put the lens on manual focus and then move the housing forward and backward to get focus going. This was very limiting and frustrating. The gear comes with an o-ring you cut in small pieces and position inside grooves of the ring. It fit to my lens easily. I was hoping I could use this gear on my other lenses as well because it's quite an expense to pull out for one gear. I was delighted to see it worked on the 18-55 and 80-200 and my Tokina 10-17 zoom rings with very little modification. I also use my housing for surf photography, and this gear opens up a new universe. It's solid construction and the adjustable o-ring system is simple and effective.
