The pair of black Professional Series Control 14C/T Two-Way 4" Coaxial Ceiling Loudspeakers from JBL is designed to provide enhanced sound quality for a wide variety of medium volume applications such as music cafes, business music systems, retail stores, music/paging systems, airports, reception/waiting rooms, lounges, courtrooms, convention centers, hotels, educational facilities, and more.

These full-range ceiling speakers consist of a 4” (100mm) high-tech cone driver and a 19mm soft-dome, liquid-cooled tweeter mounted in a vented, paintable baffle made of UV-resistant UL94-V0 and UL94-5HB material, with a pre-attached blind-mount backcan for quick and easy installation. The 120° coverage delivers consistent sound quality for listeners located both off and on axis.

The 4” (100mm) low-frequency driver is designed with a lightweight, high temperature anodized aluminum voice coil former and high temperature grade voice coil for stable performance and reliability under long-term, high-power working conditions. The butyl rubber surround provides long-term durability and good sonic damping while the polypropylene cone is water and humidity resistant. The FEA-optimized motor construction and cone geometry, along with linear suspension spider design, allows for a smooth frequency response and more consistent off-axis performance. The 3/4” (19mm) high-frequency driver features a highly damped, treated silk dome for clear and warm sound, a lightweight Kapton voice coil for improved high-frequency response and reliability, low viscosity liquid cooling for power handling and reliability, and a wide dispersion waveguide design to produce wide coverage and smooth frequency response.

The removable locking connector has screw terminals for secure wire termination and loop through terminals. A dual strain relief assembly provides clamping for use with cable or flex conduit. Suitable for a wide variety of projects, the Control 14C/T Loudspeakers are switchable for use as either 8Ω, low-impedance speakers or as part of a 70 or 100V distributed loudspeaker system with a 25W, multi-tap transformer. The speakers come complete with 2 tile rail supports, a C-ring support backing plate, cutout template, paint shield, and a grille. A safety seismic attachment ring is provided on the top surface.

A: These speakers require 2 conductor speaker wire.

A: Yes, the JBL Control 16C/T 2-Way 6.5" Coaxial Ceiling Loudspeakers can be mounted in a drop ceiling. This is their intended use and they will sound just fine.

A: The Control 26CT has a built in transformer allowing in it to be used in a distributed audio system. These speakers are able to be tapped at multiple wattages. When connected to a 70v audio system, the amplifier must be rated to handle the sum of all speakers connected with an additional 20% for headroom.

Q: 8. I paired these speakers with a Pyle amp (Model PTA4) and they sound bad. Is there an amp that will sound good with an AUX input?

[Nominal: 87 dB] I used this speaker in a on campus weight room. Easy install. All parts included even the tile bridge. This speaker easily adapts to either a 70 volt or 8 ohm system. 5

[17.88 lb] I used these speakers with JBL 19cs subwoofers for a weight room facility sound system. The total system consisted of 6 - 26c speakers and 4 - 19cs subwoofers. Wiring is made easy with the removable terminal blocks and passthrough wiring. Basically each speaker connects to each other in a line. This installation method reduces cost for speaker wire and labor involved with running extra wire. The terminal blocks have 4 wire holes. For the first speaker in the line will use holes 2 & 3 for the line connecting to the amplifier. Then a wire is ran from speaker 1 to speaker 2. Holes 1 & 4 from speaker 1 connects to holes 2 & 3 on speaker 2. This continues for the entire line. Be sure to properly power these speakers. Both the 19cs and 26c need 140 watts of power. In our installation we used 2 amplifiers splitting the system into left and right sides of the room. Since each amp had 2 outputs of 500 watts for each channel. This provided some headroom for the speakers. On both amps output 1 was was the high and output 2 was the low. Output 1 had 3 26c speakers and output 2 had 2 19cs subwoofers. These amplifiers had a built in crossover feature that splits the signal into high and low frequences which is essential for installing a system like this. A xlr splitter was used to convert the output from the mixer (1 xlr) to inputs for both amps (2 xlr). A cutout template is provided for cutting ceiling tiles. Once tiles are put back in the ceiling the installation can be done without access into the ceiling. The speaker is designed to push up through the cutout in the ceiling tile and clamps down to the C bracket (included). Make sure to have someone assist with installing, these can be insalled with one person but can be difficult for one person to lift, attach wires, put into place, and screw down holders. Overall these speakers work as expected and would buy again. They install nicely and end product looks professional. Nothing less to be expected from JBL. 5

[Nominal: 87 dB] I bough these to replace some old and cheap ceiling speakers in a 5.1 setup. The moment I installed them and fired them up, the sound was amazing! Awesome for movie surround sound, brilliant for multi-channel music. They have just enough bass (add a sub if you want a bit more thump), but the mid and high range is incredible - I’m hearing new things in sound tracks that I’ve listened to for years (and I usually listen to music in another room with B&W high-end speakers). Amazing value for the money. 5

[17.88 lb] This speaker has lots of punch. I use it with crown amplifiers, and you can really feel it in your chest. You'll need to purchase the box to mount the speaker separately. 5

[17.88 lb] Installed 4 pairs of this in an auditorium of 60ftx40ft. Easy to install, sound quality is great. The wattage tap settings on the front make it easily accessible and simplify refining volume levels of the system especially when mounted on ceiling Also, the System Design Software on jblpro website helped a lot in validating speaker placement. 5

[Nominal: 87 dB] I had installers scheduled with no speakers on site (in-hand). I ordered from B&H and received product faster then I could have imagined, in fact delivered quicker then promised. Product installed quick and easy both in the drop ceiling as well as in the drywall locations. �The JBL's look great and sound even better. �B&H had the best prices but that was not as important to me as the availability and shipping. 5
