The Auto Extension Tube Set for Canon RF Lenses by Kenko is a set of two extension tubes for mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras. This set has tubes of 10 mm and 16mm. The tubes can be used individually or in combination to obtain the desired magnification.

Extension tubes are hollow cylinders without optics designed to enable a camera's lens to focus closer than its minimum focusing distance and therefore provide more magnification. They are placed between the lens and body and are particularly useful in allowing lenses without macro capability to shoot macro, but in general, they offer increased magnification for whatever need.

An extension tube increases lens magnification by an amount equal to the extension distance divided by the lens focal length. For example, adding a 25 mm extension tube to a 50 mm lens will give a magnification gain of 0.5X. Therefore, if the lens's original magnification was 0.15X, then the new magnification will be 0.15X + 0.5X = 0.65X.

Kenko's Auto Focus extension tubes are designed with all the circuitry and mechanical coupling to maintain auto focus and TTL auto exposure with Canon RF lenses.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will these allow you to reverse your lens for even greater magnification? I'm sure you'd have to shoot full manual if you did.

A: No, a reverse adapter is a different accessory and method to get macro closeness. If you are using G lenses with no aperture ring, the reverse method is problematic because you wont have aperture control. These tubes send the aperture setting to the lens from the camera.

Q: 2. Do these extensions tube work with a Canon Rebel T3?

A: I have a Canon EOS Rebel T2i DSLR Camera with 18-55mm Lens, and the Auto Extension Tube Set DG for Canon EOS Lenses works fine with it.

Q: 3. Will these fit Nikon D-90?

A: Yes, these extension tubes are compatible with Nikon D90 DSLR camera.

Q: 4. Do these extension tubes come with end caps?

A: No, the Kenko Auto Extension Tube Set for Nikon Z Lenses do not come with end caps.

Q: 5. In the product reviews mention is made of both a plastic and a metal version of these tubes. If this is correct, what are these. I mean I'd buy genuine Nikon usually and stick to well built metal parts even if heavier but it does seem in this case these independent tubes are a better choice for the modern FX DSLR world where aperture rings on lenses are non existent in G series) and having the option of using AP modes with matrix metering is preferred.

A: The Kenko Auto Extension Tubes are plastic with metal contacts.

Q: 6. Will this work with my Canon 6D? Can it also be used with Lensbaby?

A: Yes, the extension tube set is compatible with the 6D and the Lensbaby.

Q: 7. Are these compatible with Nikon D3500 and the 18-55mm lens that comes with it?

A: Yes, they are compatible with your camera and lens.

Q: 8. Will they work with a Nikon D7200 and Nikon 200-500 F5.6?

A: Yes it is fully compatible with the D7200 and the Nikon 200-500 lens.

Q: 9. Do the kenko DG tubes work on older film cameras like nikon FE, FM, Fm2, etc? Or is this just for dslr?

A: It will fit on most of the older cameras but most lenses in combination will not work.

Q: 10. Based on the compatibility list, I take it that these extension tubes are not compatible with any RF-S lenses. Is this correct?

A: Yes, the Kenko Auto Extension Tube Set for Canon RF Lenses is also compatible with all Canon RF-S lens series.

[0.47 lb] These tubes are quality items made in Japan. The package may seem a little pricy but... I searched for this item under Canon brand. They dont make one. I think I know why. With these extension tubes, you dont need expensive macro lenses. They work great on your lens of choice. Mine is the 28-135 IS. Also works on the 70-300 IS. Zoomed to 300 with the 36mm ext, you can fill the frame with a 3/4 object on the ground w/o bending over. At that distance the IS, AF & pop-up flash work as designed. For an enthusiast, the price is a write-off compared to a lens near 1K.

[Canon RF] This a reasonable way of taking your normal lenses and getting very acceptable macro photography results. So far I extremely happy with the results I get that while using them. I can wholeheartedly recommend buying and using this set of tubes. The tubes appear to be built well enough for the normal wear and tear that is typically given by advanced photographers.

[0.47 lb] I have never used the Canon extension tubes, but the Kenko tubes seem to be made very well. The mounts fit great with no wiggle, and they seem to be very stable. I have been wanting to get these for a while now and I am very happy that I finally did. Much cheaper way to get into macro before purchasing a macro lens.

[Canon RF] The simplicity of using these lenses combined with my other lenses is what makes this product the best. I have used these lenses for nature photography, and will definitely be using them in the spring and summer for flower and insect images.

[0.47 lb] I don't have a macro lens, and couldn't justify buying one. These Extension Tubes allow me to use my existing lenses as Macro Lenses. They work great. The Depth of Field is very small with these, even with the smallest tube. Definitely a more cost effective way to try Macro. The Autofocus works as well.

[Canon RF] With a long enough lens, this set of tubes is a reliable but cost-effective way to dip into the exciting world of macro photography. I've used it with my Nikon 80-200/2.8D lens, and the results were superb. Especially for the price, they're well worth having in your camera bag.

[Canon RF] The set of extension tubes by kenko is really worth shelling out the $$. This is my first move towards Macro Photography and i am really not disappointed. I decided to go for the product after i read the review which stated that it doesn't contain any glass element, so the picture quality all depends on your lens. it is so true...totally happy with the productOn the bit of the cons side, the built material looks a little cheap, but hey you cant expect more for $

[Canon RF] These feel as heavy and sturdy as Canon ETs. I am confident using them with the RF 85mm f/1.2.
