Q: 1. Will this work for late 2013 Mac Pro?

A: No, Apple MacBooks do not use a standard m.2 SATA interface. They use a PCIe interface, but it is a proprietary pinout so you need to buy an SSD made specifically for an Apple computer.

Q: 2. Why is the TBW spec of 360 worse for this TLC SSD than it is for Crucial's 1TB m.2 SSD that has inferior QLC memory?

A: If you are comparing it to the Crucial 1TB P1 NVMe M.2 2280 Internal SSD BH #CRCT1000P1SS, this model actually has a 200TBW rating so it is not higher than the Crucial 1TB MX500 M.2 Internal SSD BH #CRMX5001TBS4 360TBW.

Q: 10. which is de adapter to connect this ssd external to my notebook for backup.? I saw your recomendation Transcend CM80 but its looks like for NVMe M.2 with two connection and this ssd is sata 3 with three connections

A: The form factor of the Crucial 1TB MX500 M.2 Internal SSD is M.2 Type 2280 and the interface is SATA III (6 Gb/s). So this is compatible with the Transcend CM80 M.2 SATA SSD Enclosure Kit. The CM80 can mount type 2242, 2260, and 2280.

[0.03 lb] Easy to assemble. Well constructed. Gets a bit hot when copying many large files but perfect for my use connecting to my TV to watch video files. Do make sure your M.2 SSD is compatible.

[0.03 lb] If you have an M.2 SATA drive, don't just toss it in a drawer and forget about it! It's easy to put it in this enclosure and use it. Just make sure it's an M.2 SATA drive and not an NVME drive!

[0.03 lb] I tried another M.2 enclosure from another retailer before this one, and couldn't get a working connection. I learned there are a couple of different types (sizes) of M.2 and not all enclosures are compatible with all devices. The description on this one listed it as being compatible and it worked immediately.

It also seems to be well constructed, with a mostly metallic construction and two small screws for assembly, and overall is a better quality than the first device I tried.

[0.03 lb] I used this to clone my existing 120G SSD drive to a new 500G SSD drive. I was surprised how quickly this worked. Took about 60 seconds to perform the cloning operation with a 100G used on the 120G drive. Cloning was successful without any problems.

[0.03 lb] Nice enclosure and finish is great, attractive but a little slippery at times. However, it is sturdy and metal enclosure make it good to protect your storage chip. Would recommend and the price is good as well.

[0.03 lb] I purchased one of these through work so I probably wont show up as a verified buyer, but I wanted to write a review to clear up some confusion. This StarTech enclosure is only compatible with B-key SATA-based drives. The specs here at B&H dont list this detail, but the specs on the manufacturers website do. Unfortunately for Rickey, this information probably would have prevented his 1-star review. See the attached screen shot of the relevant spec.

As to my actual review, the unit has a sturdy aluminum housing which both protects the M.2 drive inside, and also helps conduct heat away. The speed potential is limited by the internal SATA interface (again, this is not compatible with PCI-based M.2 drives), but thats not to say it inst plenty fast.

My only (slight) concern is the ventilation holes allowing dust to accumulate inside the housing over time, but not enough to deduct a star from my review.

[0.03 lb] I bought this enclosure to clone my stock SSD to a Samsung Evo 850 M.2 1 TB SSD. Combining with the freely downloaded Samsung Data Migration that works exclusively with Samsung products, the process was flawless and easy. This enclosure was perfect for the job. It's got a solid metal build, vents for cooling, and a connection that works with USB 3.1 or even 3.0 if you don't have 3.1. I turned the previous M.2 I had into a mini-portable external drive, with ridiculous transfer speeds like at about 300MB/sec. Oh, and here is an LED light on the bottom that indicates it is being used! This is a great enclosure. =

[0.03 lb] Crucial makes solid products. In general SSDs will improve the performance over mechanical hard drives, but for top performance you want a drive with the highest IOPS. This one rates very high compared to most. NOTE: If you motherboard supports M.2 SSDs, that would be faster than the SATA SSDs.
