Stream audio from any Bluetooth-capable mobile device or computer to your mixer, PA, or recording system with the BT-DI Project Series Bluetooth Direct Box from ART. Particularly effective in live stage applications where there may be great distances between audio sources and their targets, this compact and rugged Bluetooth DAC is engineered for maximum flexibility with minimal complexity or hassle.

The BT-DI comes with robust Bluetooth support and a long range of operation, aided by a built-in antenna. The unit can be powered by either USB or via two channels of phantom power over the noise-free, transformer-isolated, balanced XLR outputs. A main output level control is provided and can be bypassed for a fixed XLR output level, and an extra 1/4" TRS output is also provided, which can be switched between stereo and mono to feed headphones or line-level inputs.

The BT-DI is designed to be an easy-to-use Bluetooth interface for your mixers, line-level amplifiers, or computer-based DAWs. With an extremely long range, the BT-DI is versatile enough for numerous applications, such as reducing long cable runs during live performances.

  • External antenna for long-range operation, up to 100' line of sight
  • Bluetooth 5.0 receiver
  • Simple Bluetooth pairing switch with LED indicator
  • Dedicated Bluetooth audio level control
  • Balanced, low-impedance audio path for audio sources
  • Works with mixers, amplifiers, computers, tablets, and cell phones

The BT-DI has two distinct methods of power input. First, the unit can be powered with simple USB bus power, using a single USB Type-B port for 5 VDC power (this port does not transmit data). The DI box also comes with a convenient ground switch for avoiding any ground noise from computers when powered over USB. An alternative option allows the BT-DI to be powered by two +48V phantom power lines through the XLR output jacks, which can typically be supplied on microphone input channels on a mixer. This method can be useful when transmitting audio directly to a mixing console.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this version send a beep through the audio output when it's in pairing mode/when it loses signal with the device? The first version did, hoping this one solved that.

A: No, the Radial Engineering BT-PRO V2 Stereo Bluetooth Direct Box does not send any beep or chime sounds through the audio output when it is in pairing mode or if it loses Bluetooth signal with the device it is connected to.

Q: 2. I just got these and I love them. They'd work better with my particular setup if they had longer speaker wire connecting them. Any recommendations?

A: The JBL 1 Series 104-BT Compact Powered Desktop Reference Monitors with Bluetooth can be connected via standard, unterminated speaker wire, such as the options shown here: https://bhpho.to/3rSkY7H

Q: 3. How do the preamps with gain cranked up compare to other popular USB mixers at this price point? IE, vs Mackie (non-Onyx) and Behringer Q802.

A: These pre-amps will be in line with the quality that of a Behringer Xenyx mixer. These pre's would pair better with more sensitive signals requiring less gain to avoid noise.

Q: 4. What version BlueTooth does this have?

A: The Rolls HR187 Stereo Professional Bluetooth Direct Box currently uses Bluetooth version 4.2 with Radome Technology.

Q: 5. Can more than two headsets be used at the same time?

A: No you can only pair to 1 output device at a time.

Q: 6. If I connect the L/R outputs of an XM receiver to the corresponding inputs on each speaker will I get true stereo?

A: Yes, you will get true stereo with the JBL 1 Series 104-BT Compact Powered Desktop Reference Monitors with Bluetooth (White Matte).

Q: 7. Does it support 24bit/48khz?

A: It supports 44.1 or 48 khz at 16 bit.

Q: 8. Can I send phantom power in it to power and another device as a pedal that need it ?

A: No, the A-Designs REDDI Mono All-Tube Direct Box with Throughput does not let Phantom Power pass through the device.

Q: 9. Anything the other way round? I need something affordable with Low-Z input and Hi-Z output - the opposite of this device.

A: Perhaps you can use the Hosa Technology Impedance Transformer XLR Female Mic Lo-Z to Instrument 1/4" Male Hi-Z (B&H # HOMIT43) or Audix T50K Impedance-Matching Transformer (B&H # AUT50K) if you can work with an XLR Low-Z input.

Q: 10. What is the range?

A: The Rolls HR187 Stereo Professional Bluetooth Direct Box specifies a maximum operational transmission distance of 20 meters or 60 feet with line of sight to its front panel.

[1x USB-B] I tend to disagree with previous reviewer. I have this product and it works great for me. I use it when I have a situation where I am recording from DJ feed that is from their speaker output, usually too loud for line input on digital recorders. It has 3 position pad and ground lift switch. Bullet proof construction, no worries if dropped, not batteries necessary. If you want stereo in and out, you will have to look elsewhere, but DJ speakers are all mono anyway.

[Active] I'm a bass player and switch between a Upright and Electric Bass during or gigs. And would get feed back from the Uprights piezo pickups. The two channels on the DPDB allows me to use the two thru bypass line outs to my A/B switch to send one line to my Amplifer and Two XLR sends to our PA Mixer. With a better quailty signal going to the Mixer we don't get the feed back. And it gives me a channel for each of my instruments in the mixer so we don't have to change the volume levels when I change from one instrument to the other.

[Solid-State] No moving parts, no power required, converts a line level signal to microphone level, which is what we needed to take advantage of a microphone jack in the wall of a large room. We can now tap into the house system with any input device. Simplicity itself.

[Solid-State] This is the fourth one of these that I have purchased in the last 4 or 5 years. What a great value!!!I have read so many reviews from those golden eared guys that write in the audio journals but I haven't seen any laboratory tests that prove to me that any one passive DI is truly different. So I believe price is a reasonable measure.A true dual path DI. I use it for acoustic-electric guitar, bass guitar, electronic drums in stereo, a stereo keyboard, DJ mixer, CD player, computer feed to pro mixer. It can even serve as a splitter (run the high imp thru into the high imp input on the other side, bingo, two balanced outs.
