Sporting black HDD handles, the iStarUSA 4 RU 12-Bay Stylish Storage Server Trayless Rackmountable Chassis Kit is designed for storing up to twelve 3.5" Hotswap HDDs. It features SAS I/II & SATA I/II/III interfaces.

This D Storm Series chassis supports up to 12 x 13" E-ATX, ATX, or micro-ATX motherboards in addition to up to seven full-length and full-height add-on cards and a total capacity of up to 12 storage drives for RAID configuration. Two 120mm cooling fans on the sides provide adequate ventilation to prevent critical equipment from heat damage. It provides server or cluster configuration with maximum reliability and performance.

Q: 9. Can 3rd party drives be used on this model without errors/warnings in DSM?

A: Although 3rd party drives may work with the Synology RX1217, only Synology drives are officially compatible and all other brands will generate a warning message. This message does not affect system functionality.

Q: 10. Does this include a power supply?

A: The iStarUSA D410 does not include a power supply.

[4RU] For all our storage needs - this is the solution! Not only is it reliable, it's one-stop shopping for our NAS and IP camera needs. Cloud storage is the new kid on the block - but this is the O.G when you want your data and videos in-house. I highly recommend it or its other siblings of different capacities. 5

[2x 120 mm] There's one main reason I chose this instead of the newer and updated models and it all comes down to the hard drive compatibility of the 2021-2022 models that have been rolling out. This rackstation lacks the dual power supply I really wanted but I decided I can live without it since I have all of my files backing up to an RS2818RP+ living in the same rack and then another server off site. Models with Xeon processors can go up to 1 petabyte volumes unlike the lower tier processors that are limited to about 107TB which I didn't consider when I picked up the RS2818RP+. I did not have the budget to rebuy Synology branded hard drives since they are nearly 50-100% higher in cost and not really proven to be any more reliable yet considering limited data on their track record so it made the most sense to get something compatible with Seagate and Samsung so I can create volumes and save a ton of cash to put into other areas that make more sense for a small photography team. Currently loaded with five 4TB Samsung SSD's I see speeds of over 800mb/s read and write for 45 megapixel images and I imagine I'm only limited by the 10 gbe network I have. Formatted with BTRFS and RAID F1. 5

[36.7 lb] This turned out to be a pretty great cabinet. Sturdy construction and well put together. I'm currently only mounting 2 servers and have one shelf. I also put casters on this (Event though it's supposed to be for the wall) as I'm keeping this on the ground. You can't fit a regular sized screwdriver to mount anything in the back (it will have to be hand tightened or small screwdriver). But hand tightening worked fine for me. 5
