Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this size umbrella work with a Profoto B10 head?

A: Yes, the Profoto deep white umbrella would make a great light shaping tool combo for the Profoto B10.

Q: 2. Would I be able to use this umbrella with my Einstein 640 & a speed ring?

A: You can use this umbrella with the umbrella holder on the Einstein E640. No ring required.

Q: 3. Will the diffuser work with a standard speedlight (eg Nikon SB 910) or only with studio strobes?

A: The following unit is made and designed for studio strobes. A dedicated camera strobe does not have enough power to illuminate the light shaping tool. A: All

Q: 6. Will this size work on a B2 head? Or does it need a different mount?

A: While it is a large umbrella and I would recommend using a sturdy stand (and sandbags if used outdoors in windy conditions), the Profoto Deep Silver Umbrella (Extra Large, 65 ) uses the standard 8mm umbrella shaft and would slide into the umbrella receptacle on the top of the Profoto B2 Off-Camera Flash.

Q: 7. Can I use with profoto HMI 800?

A: Yes, this umbrella is compatible with the Profoto ProDaylight 800 Air.

Q: 8. What is the folded length of this umbrella?

Q: 9. Has anyone used this with a B1?

A: Yes many time and also the Deep White Umbrella. Love it darren leigh roberts photographer @dlrphoto

Q: 10. Is the 65 measurement it's actual diameter, or rib length (over the curve)?

A: Mine measured from rod end to opposing rod end was 65 . I also have a Profoto Deep Silver Umbrella Large and the same distance was 51 . So, in my cases the measurements met with the specifications.

[3 lb] This is a stunningly expensive translucent umbrella ... but I've grown sick of crap products failing on me ... like bent rods or torn fabric after any prolonged use. Failure is a costly factor.

So, I'm giving these a try ... and I must say the level of design, build quality and materials is what you'd expect from Profoto ... It's handling any pro spec gear ... it just feels right.

The proof will be apparent after some good use ... although I suspect more care will be exercised when handling these beautiful umbrellas given their cost ... LOL!

[16] Yes, you can but a much cheaper umbrella from lesser brands, but this umbrella is the only one you'll ever need if you're willing to pay the price. It has fiberglass ribs and the umbrella pole is made of high-quality stainless steel. No issues if it ever gets wet. I went out to shoot images of my wife this weekend and got the best pictures I've ever gotten of her. Even she loved them which is saying a lot! Highly recommended!

[16] This is a well constructed umbrella. It feels even better that the two small white umbrellas that came with my D1 Air kit, and those aren't bad either. I also got the optional back panel for it, and am impressed with how versatile this tool is. I picked the medium size because it will pack nicely in my 2x D1 kit.One thing to note is that when shooting through this medium umbrella with the back panel attached, and it's hanging directly under the light, the D1 needs a little help keeping the umbrella from slipping out because of its weight and slick tubing. I twisted up a rubber band and put it on the shaft as a stop. I was also able to loop the cinch-cord for the back panel around the D1's handle, so it can work in that configuration without assistance as well.

[16] The unique shape of this light modifier makes it a must have in your photography. The soft gentle fall off is unmatched when compared to other Translucent Umbrella.

[49 x 7.5 x 1"] The metal on the umbrella is solid and opens and closes well. I've been in a rush and rough on opening and closing. The metal pops back to shape.

[16] Got this as my first one to see what the difference is ... yes, you pay for the Profoto brand, but the product lives up to it ... so far.

Spent years with umbrellas failing after moderate use. These umbrellas are better built and seem to use better materials ... we'll see. The proof will be apparent late on.

[3 lb] I purchased this product hoping it was constructed well. The center shaft of my 7 ft. cheaper one bent the first time I used it- very disappointing. The Profoto shaft is heavy duty and does not bend at all! I'm glad I spent the money- I know it will perform as expected.

[8 mm] I can only compare against Paul Buff umbrellas and right away I could tell this thing is built to last. Not to say the PCB one is bad but this one just has attention to details, like the spring mechanism to open, the stitching, etc plus is really, really white, no tinge of yellow or brown. I use it as a shoot through for portraits and it works great with my PCB Einstein.

[3 lb] Profoto makes some of the best umbrellas and this doesn't disappoint. Excellent build quality and produces a beautiful light. I use this with a Profoto B1 and like how I can adjust the spread of light by sliding the B1 head along the shaft. I use this with and without the optional diffuser.

[Fiberglass] Works very well with the black back panel to provide the softest and dreamiest light of any of my modifiers with gorgeous catchlights in the eyes. It has become my favorite.
