This large Large Profoto Umbrella Diffuserfrom Large Profoto Umbrella Diffuserpulls over the front of a white or silver umbrella to turn it into a softbox. It creates a softer, more diffuse light. The diffuser will also reduce the output of your light by approximately 1.5 stops. This model is compatible with the large shallow and deep White and Silver Umbrellas.

A: Each diffuser would cut about one stop of light. You might be able to add a few, but you would have to be careful not to over load the umbrella frame.

A: The medium will be too small. Get the next size. You will love it.

A: Measurements with the latest Sekonic 858U with a 1% spot reading are showing us a light loss of 1.5 stops in the superstore.

Q: 5. What shallow umbrellas does this fit with? I cant seem to find a Profoto shallow medium - and Id like to avoid the Photek ones are quite fragile

A: Actually i use only a Profoto.. and not sure what other shallow umbrellas does it fit with.

A: Should be fine!

A: The optional diffuser is discussed within Profoto's description of the umbrella itself. It creates a softer wraparound light but loses a stop or more of light. A good investment. Profoto's gear is superb in quality, construction and performance!

[0.6 lb] I use this diffuser with a silver umbrella when I want to change from a contrasty look to a softer one. It is very easy to attach to the umbrella and the flash head. Overall, I am very happy with my purchase. 5

[0.6 lb] As with all Profoto modifiers, they are good but pricey. This one fits well a mid umbrella, I'm actually fitting it on a third party one, a bit smaller though, no problems so far. Light temperature stays the same, which is good. 5

[1.5-Stop] As you can see in the photo the diffuser fits right over the umbrella to help diffuse the light reflected from the umbrella. It was a bit awkward to put on at first but is still as simple as it gets. Works exactly like its meant too, just what you would expect from profoto (a high quality product that is simple to use) 5
