Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I want to know the diameter of this lens? For example Canon 200 L lens has a diameter of 72mm. How much is for this lens?

A: The diameter of this lens is 74.5mm.

Q: 2. what magnification can i expect with the pentax pf 80 ed spotting scope?

A: This zoom eyepiece is roughly a 20x to 60x power regardless of the scope it is matched to. A larger diameter objective lens of the scope will allow more light to enter the eyepiece than a smaller diameter lens. The difference will be in image brightness.I have this zoom eyepiece on a 65mm scope which I use for birding and wildlife viewing. The zoom is a big advantage for quickness in locating moving targets, and the smaller scope is light and compact to carry in the field. Larger scopes with fixed focal length eyepieces are advantages in photography.

Q: 3. i have a range of spotting scopes and have just bought a televue 85 scope i want to see the birds clearly that my 82 leica 65 leica and 65 vanguard can't at long range so this eyepiece only gives me the same as them am i correct in that ?

A: Well it depends on the Focal Length of your scope. That is what determines the power of this eyepiece technically. You take the Focal Length of your Scope and divide it by the Millimeter of the Eyepiece.

Q: 4. I read that the 35mm equivalent is like 35.6mm focus lens. Is this for a full 645 format, or the reduced 33x44 format of the 645D?

A: The Pentax smc FA 45mm f/2.8 lens has a 35mm focal equivalent length of 35.5mm. This lens is for full 645 format.

Q: 5. My 200mm 645z lens operates flawlessly but I notice that in manual focus, the focus ring is hardly damped at all. Quite, almost too easy to turn. Do any owners notice the same?

A: We have not had any issues we are aware of from customers with manual focus on that lens. If you do feel you might have an issue you need to contact direct our customer service department.

Q: 6. Will this work with my old Pentax 500 spotting scope? I currently am using a Meade MA25mm eyepiece.

A: The Pentax SMC XW 10mm Eyepiece (1.25") BH #PEEP10X • MFR #70514 will work with your Pentax 500 spotting scope.

Q: 7. Durability and practicality ?

A: The SMC XF 6.5-19.5 eyepiece is very well made, with high quality optics. I have used my scope in rain and fog without any problems. The actual scope is some kind of durable plastic construction which has held up, especially with the case that allows you to open the front and back and leave the case on for added protection. My ONLY con is the eye relief is real short, I wish I had a little more space, but that being said the view is crystal clear, bright, and detailed. Hope this helps in your decision.Note: the original one I had was stolen in a home robbery and covered by insurance. I could have bought any other brand, and I re-chose getting the Pentax again.

Q: 8. What are the eye relief and field of view for this eyepiece?

A: Field of View 60 to 42° Eye Relief 15.0 to 11.0 mm

Q: 9. Will this fit and focus on a Celestron regal m2 100ed?

A: Yes the Pentax SMC XW 3.5mm Wide Angle Eyepiece (1.25") is compatible with the Celestron Regal series spotting scopes.

Q: 10. Will it work with Pentax PF-65 ED II (straight body) ?

A: Yes, it will

[20.0 mm] I couldn't find fault with this eyepiece, however I bought it for terrestial river viewing. I already had the Pentax XW20 eyepiece and was hoping to be able to see greater detail with the XW14 but that was not the case. To me it seems about the same as the XW20 in resolving fine detail. It will probably get very little use because of the wider field of view of the XW20.

[20.0 mm] I use the eyepiece with a 80mm Pentax scope for long range rifle shooting. This is a large eyepiece but not a problem. The field of view and image sharpness are just super. While I can't pick out individual hits at 1000 yd. I can read the score ring numbers and shot markers like I was standing right in front of the target. I have been able to compare the image quality with a few other scopes used by other shooters and have not seen anything that exceeds the image quality of the Pentax eyepiece.

[7.9 x 5.1 x 5"] Bright image, excellent eye relief, effective exit pupil and very good build quality. I use the 10mm eyepiece with a Pentax 80mm straight spotting scope for viewing planets and other astronomical subjects. Because I wear glasses, the 10mm with its long eye relief is easier to use than the 8 to 24mm zoom. I use the zoom for daytime subjects.

[7.9 x 5.1 x 5"] Used with my scopes I get 60x and 77x magnification. The view is outstanding. Stars are pinpoint edge-to-edge. I like the longer eye relief. I prefer this to the 7mm NT6.

[7.9 x 5.1 x 5"] This eyepiece is used on a 65mm Pentax spotting scope and the 39X power lets me get a much better view of those out of range shorebirds using the SCM WX14mm which =s 27X. The wide angle helps greatly at that distance.
