The Shure GLXD4R+ is a single-channel digital wireless audio receiver compatible with the GLXD1+ bodypack and GLXD2+ handheld transmitters (available separately) and housed in a metal half-rack chassis with two removable rear-panel antennas. Rackmounting hardware is included, making this model ideal for installations in small venues, houses of worship, conference rooms, and event spaces. Shure's next-generation technology automatically scans both the 2.4 and 5.8 GHz frequency ranges to seek out the best possible digital transmission channel to ensure dependable performance for your presentations, performances, conferences, and events at a typical operating distance of up to 100' indoors and 65' outside.

The receiver features front-panel charging for the SB904 transmitter battery (available separately) and an easy-to-read display that shows pertinent information, including the remaining transmitter battery time in hours and minutes. The system transmits audio with a flat, 20 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response and 120 dB of dynamic range, leaving the sound of your mic unaffected by the wireless components. The transmitter's input gain can be wirelessly adjusted right from the receiver's front panel to optimize the audio signal. The rear panel provides a balanced XLR output switchable between mic and line levels along with a balanced 1/4" Inst/Aux output.

  • GLX-D+ Dual-Band Digital Wireless systems operate in both the 2.4 and 5.8 GHz frequency ranges, automatically scanning both to select the one that offers the higher number of clean channels.
  • The previous GLX-D only worked in the 2.4 GHz range, which offers 83.5 MHz of bandwidth. By expanding into the 5.8 GHz range, the GLX-D+ provides an additional 125 MHz worth of potential open frequencies for available channels, helping to minimize dropouts and enhance reliability.
  • Besides the additional spectrum, there are other benefits to in operating in the 5.8 GHz range. In general, there are fewer devices operating in this range, making the spectrum cleaner. The 2.4 GHz range is home for Bluetooth devices and other devices, including Wi-Fi routers and repeaters, security cameras, baby monitors, garage door openers, and more. Operating in this range means competing with these devices for the same space.
  • The system offers true digital diversity, which means two antennas and two independent receiver modules work together to reduce RF signal dropouts.
  • In addition, the GLX-D+ transmits on its own main frequency just like a traditional system, but it also transmits on 2 extra "backup frequencies” at the same time. If the system detects interference on the main frequency, it will switch to one of the backups automatically without the user even knowing.

  • GLX-D+ receivers typically allow you to run up to 4 mics simultaneously in the same space without using remote antennas and a frequency manager. Under ideal conditions, up to 8 systems can be used this way.
  • This GLXDR+ half-rack receiver includes removable antennas, allowing you to mount the antennas on the front panel for improved reception (cables and hardware included) and expand the system to accommodate more microphone channels.
  • If you're only using two or three receivers at once, consider adding the UA221DB-RSMA kit, which includes two passive antenna splitters to route the RF signals from a single pair of antennas to all the receivers. Using only two antennas for all the receivers helps to avoid intermodulation problems for better reception.
  • To maximize signal reception and reliability, consider adding a pair of PA805DB-RSMA Dual-Band Passive Directional Antennas, which offer improved filtering of interference and deliver a 24 dB front-to-back rejection ratio of off-axis signals to improve reception by up to 8 dB.
  • If you need four or more microphone channels, consider adding the GLXD+FMZ3/LC Frequency Manager, which allows up to 11 mics to operate simultaneously (16 under highly optimal conditions) making it ideal for installations with multiple wireless systems.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is glxd1+ transmitter compatible with glxd4 receiver?

A: No, the Shure GLXD1+ Dual-Band Wireless Bodypack Transmitter (Z3: 2.4, 5.8 GHz) is not compatible for use with the Shure GLXD4 Digital Wireless Receiver (2.4 GHz) - B&H # SHGLXD4Z2, which operates on the 2.4 GHz frequency band only. Shure's single-band GLX-D series was discontinued and replaced by the updated dual-band GLX-D+ series. Unfortunately, the GLX-D+ components are not backwards compatible, so the GLXD1+ Transmitter cannot be used with the GLXD4 Receiver. The GLXD1+ Transmitter is intended for use with the Shure GLXD4+ Dual-Band Wireless Tabletop Receiver (Z3: 2.4, 5.8 GHz) - B&H # SHGLXD4Z3 and the Shure GLXD4R+ Dual-Band Wireless Rack Receiver (Z3: 2.4, 5.8 GHz) - B&H # SHGLXD4RZ3. For a bodypack transmitter to use with the GLXD4, you will need to use the older, discontinued single-band Shure GLXD1 Digital Wireless Bodypack Transmitter (2.4 GHz) - B&H # SHGLXD1Z2 or you can replace the system (transmitter and receiver) with the new components.

Q: 2. Can you control a sony A7Iv of the sony fx 30 with it

A: The SONY A7RIV is supported for control when using the INKEE Benbox Mini 1080p Wireless Video Transmitter. Also, while the Sony A74 and FX30 are not listed, they should also be controllable when using a USB-C to USB-C cable. Tested camera list for control: https://bit.ly/44DJ0VT

Q: 3. Can it be charged with a powerbank and be used at the same time?

A: yes this can be powered via the USB-c and used at the same time

Q: 4. Can it transmit to more than one device?

A: Yes it can. This can transmit to up to 4 iOS/Android Devices.

Q: 5. Will the C2G 98045 work with the AAXA Technologies M5 900-Lumen WXGA LED Pico Projector that I bought from you last year? If not, what will?

A: Unfortunately the AAXA Technologies M5 900-Lumen WXGA does not support external infrared remote extenders for control of the projector's functions. The best available option would be the included remote control.

Q: 6. Are you able to pull files from the camera to the laptop and edit live while the camera is being used to shoot? Asking for the Ux90

A: This will not be able to work. You will need to do them separately.

Q: 7. Can you stream from the XU90 with this device from the camera ?

A: While this will work with the UX90, it is for control through WiFi. The UX90 does not have streaming built in.

Q: 8. Can this device be used with a Vizio TV that has Apple Airplay 2 built-in?

A: no this can not be used with Air play

Q: 9. Will it work on the Z6II camera partially or fully including remote camera control?

A: Inkee states that their Benbox is compatible with the Z6 but they have not tested it with the Z6 II. Since the Z6 and the Z6 II are very similar we expect it to work with the Z6 II as well.

Q: 10. Can this transmit to a laptop?

A: This product is not designed for sending video to a computer. it requires an app that is only available on smartphones and tablets.

[1] Having come from lots of QLXD and SLXD installs, I was worried the GLXD system would be a significant downgrade. Yes, its dual band 2.4/5.8GHz, but we haven't had any issues compared to our other UHF systems. For a simple uses cases, I would recommend.

[208.5 MHz] I've used the Shure SLXD series now at 8 events. They've been great. I bought the rechargeable batteries and I'm getting 7.5 hours out of them. The setup is fast. They scan the open frequencies in less than 10 seconds. Very happy with this series!

[Auto-Scan] As a Wedding DJ, I have a console with room for only one 19-inch rack mount mic receiver. I was going to buy two single units, but I didn't want four antennas. I stumbled across the SLX4D4 that's two receivers in one that only uses two antennas... PERFECT! And, it's easy to configure and sounds fantastic!
